On January 1st, 2024, when we all decide what we’ll do in the New Year to improve ourselves I made a little vow to read more. My super small goal was at least one book a month. Mission Accomplished! While some months allowed for more extra reading time than others, I’m very happy with my accomplishment.
Here are all the books I read in 2024:
At the end of the year, I’m wrapping up with reading 35 books and listening to 3 audio books! That’s a win in my book! If you’re considering adding reading to your goals for 2025, start small and look what can happen!
Now to the really fun part. I saw this idea early on in 2024 and knew I wanted to do it myself. Here’s my 2024 Book Bracket for the Best Book of the Year!

Each month, I chose my favorite book I read that month and {while I’m in my sports mom era, this felt right} turned it into a little bracket to decide what was my favorite book of the year. I added a couple wild cards to make the numbers even and voila!
Making it to the semi-finals were The Women, The Things We Cannot Say, The Frozen River, and The God of the Woods with the ultimate victor being The Women. This was an AMAZING year of books for me! I’m already looking forward to what I’ll read in 2025!
What do you think? Do you agree? Disagree?
Now it’s your turn…what was YOUR FAVORITE book of the year?!
Thanks for reading today, friends! See you tomorrow!
XO
I love the idea of a book bracket and want to do it next year! I loved all the colors of the dark, the 5 am club and the plan!

I’m still working my way through the plan! I’m unsure on what I think so far…are you loving it?
Although The Women did not top my list, The Frozen River did! Loved it! I’m reading God of the Woods right now and loving it – the author also wrote Long Bright River, which is also a great recommendation if you haven’t read it! Thank you for sharing these reviews this year! You give me good ideas to read 🙂
Long Bright River…purchasing it now!
First of all, I love the bracket idea!
Looking back I think the book that stood out for me the most this year was Go As A River. I know this was more of a “last year” book, but so many books so little time.
I started reading that and never finished! I need to start over!
For two people who act like we don’t agree on books, we clearly AGREED ON BOOKS THIS YEAR! bahahaha!
We NEVER agree on books! hahaha!
Not to be a pest but I sent you a DM the other day hoping to get more info on the Bronco Buddies thing that Bowen did with the highschool. If you have time, I’d love to know how it worked so o can try to do it at my son’s high school. Thanks
Hey Jen! I’m so glad you commented here. Just left you a super long voice message!
So excited to see The Women as your number one! This one just came up as ready to borrow from the library, so I can’t wait to read over the holiday break! Merry Christmas!
Jenn! I can’t wait to hear what you think! I think you’ll LOVE IT!
