Everything Entertainment-August

Friends, HAPPY SEPTEMBER! I’m finishing this blog post on Tuesday afternoon and dare I say it’s a bit chilly outside? That might be stretching it but it’s in the 70’s and there’s a little rain happening. It’s basically everything my fall loving heart could hope for.

Not only does September bring cooler temps but FOOTBALL IS BACK! Tab and I spent our weekend rotting away on the couch. We watched so many football games. It was what Labor Day dreams are made of. ;). This is the time of year that’s crazy busy but when else do we have the perfect excuse to sit down in front of the television for three solid hours? NEVER! Only during football season! I also snuck in some reading time and have a good dose of books for you this month! {As well as some shows and a movie!}

The Paris Widow

In this novel, Stella meets Austin and falls in love. A few years later they’re in Paris in the midst-of a little work trip for Austin where he’s picking up some antiques and other artifacts to sell at his store in the states while a bombing occurs. Austin goes missing and well…I can’t say much more because I’ll give things away. You ladies know I’m a fan of a thriller. I’d give this one a 3 star rating. I’m not sure what has happened but I feel like I’ve read several books about art dealers, antique collectors, etc. and I’m not a fan of that plot. However, the twists and turns did keep me guessing.

The God of the Woods

One of the best books I’ve read in a while! One morning at Camp Emerson, one female camper is missing. She happens to be the camper from the wealthy family who owns the camp. And this family’s back story is twisted with lots of secrets. This book does have lots of characters so if you get to a chapter and forget one, just keep going. It’s a really good read! And I didn’t expect the ending! Highly recommend!

The Wedding People

I can often go down rabbit holes of any type of Reese Book Club, Read with Jenna Club, etc. I find myself adding many of those reads to my Amazon cart for another day. I’d heard about this one over and over again so finally decided to read it. It’s unlike my typical genre and leans way more chick-lit than I typically prefer but it’s got some meat in there as well. Dare I say I could have even picked out some Gospel messages from this one if I thought about it a while? A trigger warning should be offered about suicide, just fyi.

Phoebe arrives at a little boutique hotel where the entire hotel is rented out for a wedding {except her room}. Her life was going terrible and she had terrible plans for the evening but she gets intertwined in the lives of the “wedding people”.

Pretty Little Wife

I’m always down for a good thriller and while this kept me guessing throughout most of the book, it did air on the dark side a bit. Lila Ridgefield’s husband goes missing and the majority of the story is one twist or turn while we discover what happened to him. Not my favorite thriller but was “okay”.

The Housemaid is Watching

This is the third book in the Housemaid series by Frieda McFadden and while I remembered absolutely nothing from the other two books, I still thought this thriller was full of twists and turns. Millie {from her previous books} is married now with two children and her family moves into an interesting culdesac. The housemaid acts very strangely, neighbors are a bit odd, and one neighbor ends up dead. It kept me guessing and entertained! If you’re a thriller fan, I’d suggest it!

One of my girlfriends kept asking me if I’d watched this Laci Peterson documentary so I finally took the plunge and WHOA! WHY’D I WAIT SO LONG?! After watching this I’m in the “her husband killed her” camp but I heard there’s a documentary on Hulu that leans more “he’s innocent”. I’ve gotta watch that next!

Are you a fan of Love is Blind? I mean…the concept is so interesting but what most of the couples have taught is love isn’t truly blind. What is the percentage of couples that actually stay together? Very slim? Anyway, I’ve heard over and over again the UK version is great so I watched the latest season and was totally entertained.

Emily in Paris always leaves me feeling kind of blah. It’s not my favorite storyline. {I’m an Alfie fan!} But the scenery and fashion can’t be beat! I’m all caught up on season four and just waiting for more episodes to drop.

Football season is BACK and we spent this long, glorious weekend watching tons of football but then ESPN and my satellite provider got in a big fight late Sunday evening. Anyone else?? Which meant Monday our television had zero football. We had a little family movie night and finally watched The Boys in the Boat. I read the book years ago and it was a love. The movie was also a HIT! I know the Slaughters are WAY late to this movie but if you are as well, it’s worth a watch!

I asked you guys for great fall book recommendations and I promise to share soon! I’m working on compiling a list! What’s the best book you’ve read lately?

XO

We watched the Laci Peterson documentary, and it definitely confirmed for me that Scott is guilty. I can’t even imagine a scenario where it wasn’t him. The hulu one must just leave out a whole lot of information. I mean, I could list 10 reasons why he has to be guilty right off the top of my head! HE DID IT. Case closed.

GIRL, YES! I might have mistyped. Might be Peacock and I think they interview Scott. We need to watch that one ASAP!

Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson. My favorite book of the year so far. Also, Book Lovers by Emily Henry. Should be made into a movie.
