Hey Friends! We’re BACK in Texas after an amazing two week vacation at the beach! I know this post is oh, so late! But, I have big plans for my end of the year book round up and it requires a book post each month. So, here we are. 🙂
I read three books this month and only would recommend one. Womp womp.
The Book Woman’s Daughter was my favorite of the month. I didn’t realize before picking this up that it’s actually a sequel to The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, which I’d never read. It didn’t seem to affect the story though. This was one was a hearty story about a girl who takes over her mom’s duties as a packhorse librarian, who delivers books to people living out in the middle of the Kentucky mountains. Historical fiction is slowly creeping in as my favorite genre {watch out, thrillers!} and it didn’t disappoint. Someone recommended it and now I can’t even remember who but I’m glad I read it! And would definitely recommend to you!
Happiness Falls…began with the beloved father and husband of the family going missing. The family all has different theories about what could have happened. We walk through each of those and don’t uncover the truth until the very end. This one was just kind of slow for me.
Shelterwood was one I was pumped to read because I loved Before We Were Yours so much. If you haven’t read that one, definitely do it! This book toggled back and forth between the early 1900’s and the 1990’s in Oklahoma where their was a battle for power and wealth with many children being left alone, orphaned, and hungry. I think I thought Lisa’s first book was SO good that I maybe built this one up to be even more. It was just okay to me.
Good news is I’m officially back on the reading bandwagon! I’ve read some really great books in July and will be sharing those soon! I’ll be back TOMORROW with some of my Amazon favorites from the summer! And then Wednesday, I’ll be sharing a quick recap of our vacation!
Have a great Monday!
XO
I’m going to need you to boss me around and tell me exactly which book I should read.

Thank you!!
After seeing you post something about the Book Woman’s daughter, I checked my library and saw that it was a series, and book #1 was available, so I downloaded right away! I’ve now got the one you read downloaded, but would absolutely recommend going back to read the first one, it was so good!
Oh good, Jenn! Hope you like #2 just as much!
I just finished The Midnight Feast by Lucy Foley. It was so good. It was definitely a suspenseful thriller in all the best ways.
I ran out of books at the beach and popped into the adorable book store. I saw that one and ALMOST bought it! Adding it to my must read list now! Thank you!
Love that you’re getting into historical fiction! You may enjoy The Island Villa by Lily Graham!
Just added it to my Amazon cart! Thank you!
I can’t wait to grab that first book! 😉
HAHA!
