Let’s Look-Irrational Fears

I’m BACK! Our family of six got back from our magical getaway on Monday. It was short. It was sweet. And as a mom it was exactly what my heart needed in the middle of our busiest season. I’m rejuvenated and ready to finish this season strong!

Today, Shay and I are here with a FUN Let’s Look topic-our irrational {and not irrational} fears. Our world is heavy, heavy right now. There are all kinds of real, true worries I have so instead of adding to anyone’s lists of fears {the Bible says not to worry} I’m going to keep it more light-hearted by sharing the fears I have that are typically more irrational {not saying they couldn’t happen}.

Before we jump into today’s topic, if you missed my January post where I shared all about how I schedule/keep track of things for our family, you should check it out.

In February, we shared our medicine cabinets, and you can see all the details in this post.

In March, we highlighted our FAVORITE Amazon purchases, EVER!

In April, we discussed our biggest pet peeves! Some of you agreed with me. 😉

May had us chit chatting about our morning routines.

I skipped the month of June because we were vacationing in Iceland.

In July, we shared our FAVORITE summer find!

August, we took a peek at our very worst habits.

And last month we shared our evening/night time routines.

Since last month I’ve been contemplating this topic and a few of my irrational fears have popped up organically….

Do you see that? ALL those birds! I’m not scared or fearful of birds themselves. What makes me nervous is when birds fly over my head. I’m scared they’re going to “do their business” right above me. Is this normal? Do you guys have this fear? I have personal experience from being in the wrong place at the wrong time so now I have a fear of it happening again. On my senior trip at the beach, a bird flew over and SPLAT right on my leg. Another time I was walking outside and BAM on my arm. And just last year in London Andrew got hit hard while I got a bit too. UGH! It’s gross. It’s nasty and now if birds are flying above me I want to duck and hold my breath.

My evenings are often spent in the bleachers and one of my big fears sitting in the stands is when I sit on the top row in hopes of having more of a “back” by leaning up against that fence at the top of bleachers. You guys know what I’m saying? Just a week or so ago, I found myself sitting way high up leaning against that fence at a football game and a few days later I was soaking up all the shade again at the top of the bleachers leaned up against that fence. I have a big fear of that fence falling right off and me crashing to the ground!

So sorry for the up close and personal pic of this gnat BUT gnats reign high on my list of irrational fears. Do you remember last summer when a gnat flew in my eye, got stuck and started an infection? There are gnats all over outside so I just can’t think too much about it or I swat the air as I walk with every step! ha!

Give me snakes! Give me spiders! Give me ROACHES, for all I care. But please, please do not give me a rat or a mouse! URRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!! I just can’t do it!

Nothing can make my blood pressure rise faster than a missing uniform, missing practice jersey, missing sock, etc….I have to repeat to myself over as I’m looking for said item that it can’t be missing. I’m a frantic searcher for all that sports’ gear. WHHHHYYYYY??? My irrational fear is someone came in and stole the practice jersey, I guess? hahahaha!

I’m positive I have a list a mile long of other fears but that’s all I can think of right now. What about YOU? Do you have any irrational fears you’d like to share?

A little note for next month, we’re going to switch our November and December topics so next month we’re talking STOCKING STUFFERS!

Hope you join us next month!
