Let’s Look-Worst Habits

Happy Happy Wednesday and Happy First Day Back to School here in McKinney, Texas! Ready or not…here they come-first grade, fifth grade, eighth grade, and ninth grade! Today happens to be a Let’s Look with Shay! Once a month we team up to take a little peek at something in our life and we invite you to share yours as well! We’re gonna talk WORST HABITS. #ohyesweare Before we dive into that, I want to remind you of all the Let’s Look posts so far this year…

If you missed my January post where I shared all about how I schedule/keep track of things for our family, you should check it out.

In February, we shared our medicine cabinets, and you can see all the details in this post.

In March, we highlighted our FAVORITE Amazon purchases, EVER!

In April, we discussed our biggest pet peeves! Some of you agreed with me. 😉

May had us chit chatting about our morning routines.

I skipped the month of June because we were vacationing in Iceland.

Last month we shared our FAVORITE summer find!

BAHAHAHAHA! This made me laugh. :). As I was working on this post, I decided I wanted to poll my family instead of just sharing what I thought were all my worst habits. {Don’t worry-I’ll share too.}. I thought it might be extra insightful to hear their thoughts. And let me tell you their thoughts turned into a lot more of “what does mom do that annoys us” versus just my bad habits. Who can blame them though? I asked! 😉

Tab: I really didn’t have to even ask because I KNEW what he’d say…I’m messy. I’ll leave cups, random papers, and other miscellaneous items in my car that need to be taken out, I’ll leave a drawer or cabinet open, and I often times let my side of the closet get OUT OF CONTROL before I clean it up. Trust me when I tell you I’ve gotten SO MUCH BETTER than I used to be. I’m naturally a messy person but I want our house to be nice. I’ve taught myself how to be so much better than I used to be but I still have my moments.

Ebby Lee: I guess I use this phrase a lot, “Let’s be productive”. She said that phrase {ESPECIALLY ON A SATURDAY} makes her cringey.

See what I mean though…don’t think that’s considered a “worst habit” but I’m going with it.

Nixon: This made me laugh. Don’t all moms when waking their kids up do it in a sing-songy voice, are super positive, and we do it because we think that will help their day start off on a great note? YES! Well apparently that is Nixon’s idea of a terrible way to start the day. He much prefers the calming sounds of THE ALARM CLOCK?!

Bowen: Apparently he takes after his dad and mentioned how I leave my cups in the cupholders of my car.

Britt: Doesn’t like that I don’t let her watch tv all day. She better just get used to that. The habit is here to stay.

Now my turn:

*I’m REALLY BAD about making a kid take a break from something. Let’s say an I-Pad for an example. I take the I-Pad, put it up because a kid isn’t allowed to be on it for two weekends {that’s a weekend perk in our house} except when the kid is “ungrounded” from the I-Pad, I CAN’T REMEMBER WHERE I PUT IT. Please tell me that has happened to others!

*This might be my worst habit ever because YOU’D THINK I’D LEARN! I ALWAYS put off tasks like getting gas and then will worry and fret the entire drive to the gas station that I’m not gonna make it. WHY do I do that to myself?! I’ll seriously think about which friend would be the best to call for help on that particular day when my car runs out of gas! My friend, Erin, always is using the phrase, “Do something your future self will thank you for”. I’m trying to get better! It’s great advice!

I probably could keep going and I KNOW my kids would have preferred it. {I cut them off after one habit.}. But I feel like you’ve gotten enough of my “dark side” today. Ha! What about you?! What’s YOUR worst habit?! I’d LOVE to hear!

Next month we’re chatting about our evening routines! Can’t wait to share! Hope you have the best kind of Wednesday!

XO
