Let’s Look-Pet Peeves

Shay and I are back for another installment of Let’s Look, the monthly link-up where we take a peek at the little things in our lives.

If you missed my January post where I shared all about how I schedule/keep track of things for our family, you should check it out.

In February, we shared our medicine cabinets, and you can see all the details in this post.

Last month we highlighted our FAVORITE Amazon purchases, EVER!

And today we’re talking about our BIGGEST PET PEEVES! This one could get touchy. What if I go all out about a topic that you reading does each and everyday?! The peacemaker/people pleaser in me is sweating bullets as I type this post….hahahaha! {I wish I was kidding!!}. But I’m doing it. Please know I’m not trying to offend anyone and if we met in person, I’m certain I’d think you were sweet. 🙂

Just to make the post extra fun, I’m gonna share one of Tab’s BIGGEST pet peeves. If you know Tab in real life then this won’t surprise you. He can get fired up about this topic. And he’s very passionate about his thoughts so trust me-you’ve probably heard him.

Tab cannot stand it when big crowds of people are walking and people aren’t walking on the right side of the sidewalk, street, {insert any type of place right here}. If you’re not married to Tab, then you might not have even thought of this before but in big crowds {think theme park} when people are walking crowds tend to walk on the right just like how we drive. And it makes the entire walking system run smoothly. Every once in a while there will be stragglers who are like fish trying to swim upstream in the middle of all the people walking the other direction. After he pointed it out, I see it’s SO MUCH EASIER for everyone involved if we stick to the right side.

Have you heard of this?? Does this bother you too?

I have a couple and mine are SUPER mom-focused because I’m overall pretty laid back but these can get under my skin…

#1 Caring about themselves only-I’m NOT a fan of selfish people or people that are only caring about themselves. I can apply this to MANY things outside of my house but in our house this can often sound like the phrase, “I didn’t get that out”, or, “that’s not mine”, or, “he got it out”. Those phrases DRIVE ME CRAZY!! If that were the case, would moms do much of anything around the house?? All the items I’m frequently picking up don’t belong to me!

#2 When you’re the last person to eat ANYTHING out of a package, bag, or box BUT instead of throwing that package, bag or box away you place it back in the pantry, refrigerator or cabinet. So when I take a glance in the kitchen to see what we need more of from the store, I ASSUME we still have more of that item but in reality it’s completely empty just taking up space. This just happened at Ebby Lee’s birthday party, we had a gluten-free guest and it appeared like I had a package of gluten-free oreos in the pantry. I’d seen the package and ASSUMED there were enough in there for the guest to enjoy a few cookies while the other guests had cake. When I went to grab the cookies, THE PACKAGE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY!! I panicked and realized the Easter Bunny’s stash contained some gluten-free treats so I grabbed those for our guest BUT if that package had been thrown away then I would have bought something gluten-free.

#3 A few people in my house think if they rinse off their plate and leave it in the sink they’ve done me a big favor. When in fact they didn’t do a dish, they just rinsed off their plate and left it in the sink. “Doing dishes” would be when you rinse off all the plates and put them all in the dishwasher. Often times certain people {that I love with my whole heart} who live in my house will rinse their plate and give me a look like I have so much to be thankful for. hahahaha! I probably give them a side eye back because again, “That’s not doing dishes…that’s just rinsing plates and leaving the dishes in the sink for someone else to do later”.

Whew! It feels better to get those off my chest! Those are my TOP THREE BIGGEST PET PEEVES! I need to go take some deep breaths to calm myself down. hahaha! I’d LOVE to hear yours!! What is your biggest pet peeve??

Please join us next month when we chat about our Morning Routines! Thanks for popping in today, friends! Now I’m off to make my favorite THIRTEEN YEAR OLD’S birthday a little extra special.

XO

I love let’s look! I’m with you about the empty boxes in the pantry! Drives me nuts! http://www.elspethsdaybyday.com

Um YES, Tab- I agree, people should walk in an orderly manner on the right side. I find this most at AIRPORT. I travel ALL.THE.TIME. AND it drives me crazy at 6 a.m. when I’m in a hurry to get to the next gate, when people walk super super slowly in the MIDDLE of the lane, and I can’t get around. Or they STOP right in the middle of walking, and I’m right behind them. Geesh.

I’m 1000% with Tab. One of Chris’s biggest pet peeves is when he’s in line to fill up his cup with a soda…… and the person in front of him sits there and presses the lever like 20 times to try to get their cup filled perfectly. MOVE IT ALONG.

Yes to the dishes one! I hate that too.
I also gripe about people not walking on the right side, it should be common sense (unless those people are from the UK or Australia, haha, then they may be confused!).

I was reading Tab’s pet peeve to G and got a 5 min in-depth easy on why he agrees?!!!🤪🤪🤪 Sounds like the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree!!! My pet peeve is bikers that clearly know they have a traffic line of 20 cars behind them trying to get around them because they’re in the middle of the busiest street ever.

Thanks to my friendship with Tab, I am way more aware of what side of the street/walkway I’m on 🙂 >

So basically, you and Tab are annoyed when people lack basic self-awareness. Me too!! Haha. Self-awareness is key, and so many people seem to lack it these days. 😅

Mine is right up there with Tab’s, when people saunter 4-5 abreast on a walkway ( usually clueless) blocking others both ways!

Haha, definitely hate the old empty box in the pantry trick. Whyyy? I guess because the culprit doesn’t want to admit that they ate the last one? It really makes no sense.
Anyway, my biggest pet peeve is tail gating, bar none. But also, people who speed in parking lots and just obnoxious drivers in general.
I also agree with your thoughts on cleaning dishes, though I have to say that I’m pretty happy if the dishes just make it to the sink these days:).

My pet peeve is leaving cabinet doors open. Not tightening lids back on things tight,
Like 2 liters, leaving dishes in the sink, and dogs on furniture.

I live in Hawaii and my pet peeve are tourists wearing loud clothing and acting drunk. I remember a boss saying it was because they are not at home and around anyone they know. Have some respect for the people and culture you are visiting… I am also with Tab. I find the younger kids do not know social etiquette and need to be taught. People are walking all over the mall and won’t even make space for you if you are going around them or in the opposite direction.

Hi Shar! I’m sure that is annoying when you live in a tourist destination! Thanks for sharing!

Ask Tab if you are in a country where they drive on the other side of the street – are you suppose to walk that way? I agree with him about people not walking on the right side!
