Let’s Look-Being Healthy

Friends, I don’t even know how to properly explain this to you, but listen up-IT’S HOT HERE IN TEXAS! It’s hot every summer, but this year I have walls open to the outside elements. Between the hours of 12:00-7:00 p.m., it’s really hot in our house. This is me…

The kids and I got in the car this week around 1:30 and I grabbed my Ray Bans to put them on. I BURNED MY FACE because those glasses were so darn hot! The kids thought it was hysterical because I was whooping and hollering to get them off my face as quickly as possible. Now, that’s not right.

I’m not convinced the planets didn’t shift and somehow this has happened. 😉

It’s LET’S LOOK, that day of the month where Shay and I share a little peek at something in our lives. Today, we’re talking about how it looks for us to practice being healthy. If you’ve missed any posts from this past year, I rounded them up…

Last month, we shared our summer go-to lunches.

In May, we took a closer look at our hometowns. Any other small town Missouri girls here?

In April, we shared our favorite kind of date nights.

Back in March, we were nostalgic again by taking a look back at all our favorites from high school and college. From fashion to movies to food, we covered it all.

In February, we shared a peek at our menus.

And to kickoff the year in January, we shared how we get organized for a new year.

I want to start it off by telling you I’m no expert, but I’ve found some things that work for me. I don’t always get it in, but more days than not I do, which is what’s important.

#1 Workout-I try to workout five days a week and then on those two days when I don’t “officially” do something, I go for a long walk. I change it up…strength training with weights, Peloton cycling, a jog, etc.

#2 Make healthy choices-not all the time, but MOST of the time. I’ve really tried to start paying attention to my protein intake. As we get older, ladies, it’s so important! I’m very much an “everything in moderation” kind of person. Any time I try to restrict myself from a certain type of food, then it’s ALL my body is craving. I’ve learned that doesn’t work so great for me, but what does work is trying to make healthy choices MOST of the time. Key word there is, “most”.

#3 Drink LOTS of water-I try my best to get as much water in as possible. Some days it’s easy and other days I struggle.

#4 Sleep-I’m a terrible sleeper. If something wakes me up in the night, then I’m up for hours. It’s a horrible habit. But I’m working on going to bed earlier, sleeping in a bit, just whatever I can do to get eight hours each night.

#5 Walk Daily-Doesn’t have to be long, but a quick walk around the neighborhood everyday helps me feel better everyday.

That’s it! Those are the five things I really try to incorporate into my everyday in order to stay healthy.

I’ve shared some fitness related posts in the past…

Shay and I did an entire Bestie Breakdown podcast about Breaking Down Fitness.

Years ago, I shared how I do fitness in this post. Things have changed a bit. I don’t love working out at home anymore, but I think it’s important to do what works for you. Seasons change. Your workout preferences will too and that’s okay! Change it up. Try something new!

This is a post sharing an example of my workouts for the week.

Next month we’ll be talking how we do everyday cleaning. Let me tell you-mine looks WAY different than normal right now. 🙂

Hope you can join us next month! As always if you joined us please add your blog to the bottom of the post!

Okay, I’m off now to get to moving! Hope you’re feeling a little inspired to get moving too! Have a great day, friends!
