Friday Favorites-8.4.23

HAPPY FRIDAY! Andrea and I are here again for another week of Friday Favorites! Each week we ask you to join us by sharing some of your faves and linking up with us!

Guys, this was our last full week of summer. I’ve got all the feelings! I’ve LOVED getting to be home with my kids. We’ve made so many great memories. We went on multiple trips. They’ve had friends over, we’ve swam, I’ve driven carpools for HOURS, and I have no doubts if you added up all the pizza I’ve bought for friends this summer there’d be enough to feed an army. It’s been such a good summer! And now it’s time for them to go do some amazing things this school year. I’m excited about the upcoming schedules and routine. They’re pumped about meeting new friends, getting to see old ones on the daily and all the exciting things a fall school year brings…like cheer, football, softball, Homecoming, and the list just goes on and on. Summer, you’ve been so very good to us. We’re sad to see you go, but we welcome this school year with open arms!

Whew! Don’t know what got into me there! haha! I told you I had ALL THE FEELS about our last week of summer. In true Friday fashion, I’ve got a list of my FAVORITES from the week!

I’ve shared my new FAVORITE sneakers from the Anniversary Sale multiple times. They’re still available in many sizes and three different colorways! GREAT price and they’re so comfortable! Also, keep in mind this is your last chance to shop the sale! It ends on August 7th!

Just yesterday I shared how great my birthday was. So many people reached out to make my day so special. I was on a complete birthday high! And then my Thursday looked like this…

Cherries splattered ALL OVER MY NEW WHITE SNEAKERS! UGH!! It played out like a sitcom. I wish I’d been videoing. I tried to put something in the garage refrigerator and the cherries dumped, spilled all over the garage floor, and got my shoes dirty. Two seconds later Nixon opened the trunk to unload groceries and a glass jar of pepperoncini peppers went all over the driveway. Glass, peppers, and juice! We were a MESS! Not a FAVORITE but highs and lows..right? 😉

Another high from the week….THIS BOOK! In Missouri this weekend one of my cousins mentioned this book, Fourth Wing. I was so intrigued! I’d describe it as a racy, adult version of The Hunger Games. If you’re okay with a few racy scenes as well as some language but you loved The Hunger Games, READ IT! It was a FAVORITE from the week!

And here’s a little peek at a few other FAVORITES from my summer reading…

Only the Beautiful-Oh my heart! This book gave me all the feels! This book is split into two parts. The first part is about a girl who’s parents and brother die in an accident leaving her an orphan. She’s forced to become the maid for her parents’ employer. I don’t want to share too much about what happens but she has a DIFFICULT life and happens to be connected to the woman who’s covered in part two of the story. The woman in part two is living in Europe during WWII and is a nanny for a large family. I tend to pick up books based on someone’s recommendation without even knowing a thing about the book. That’s exactly what happened with this one and you guys…I’m STILL thinking about this story! It touched my heart in every way possible. START READING IT TODAY!! It’s a heart wrenching story about the difficulties families faced during WWII. And I highly recommend it!

The Five-Star Weekend-I HAD to pick this up while I was visiting Shay and her family on Nantucket. Right? In Hildebrand’s latest, one woman decides to host an amazing weekend with five friends from different stages of her life. {Can you even imagine if you invited five friends from different stages of your life? }. They didn’t all know each other. Some didn’t get along and while the storyline was great, it made it extra special reading about all these locations that are actually places on Nantucket. It was the perfect beach read and if you’re looking for a great chic-lit story {that’s meatier than a Hallmark movie}, this is the one!

These Silent Woods-Once again I picked this up based on a friend’s recommendation and am so glad I did! Almost throughout the entire story we don’t know why a dad and daughter are tucked away hiding in the woods. We learn at the very end of the book what’s happened and my goodness-this was a heart warming story about grace, forgiveness, and receiving gifts you don’t even deserve. Another gem of a book I highly recommend!

The Light in Hidden Places-And ANOTHER book you’ve gotta read STAT! I realized when I was linking this one for you it’s actually listed as a “Young Adult” book so appropriate for teens as well! This is based on a true story of a teen girl who showed amazing courage and bravery in the throes of WWII. I held my breath as I read, cried at different times, and also held the biggest smile. Friends, you will love this one!

I heard about this football charcuterie board cheat sheet. You add exactly what the sheet says and it ends up looking like a football in the field. I thought it was darling and an easy way to make any fall football night a little more festive. Hopefully it’ll be my new FAVORITE this fall!

Many of my FAVORITE sale items are still in stock!

Farm Rio Dress-Last year I scored a Farm Rio dress in this sale and was SO GLAD I had that in my closet. I took it on several trips and wore it to a couple date nights. It’s always nice when you have something come up that needs a certain outfit and you have that just waiting for you in your closet. This dress looks like it can be worn all year long {or pretty much in Texas} by just changing up the shoe wear!

New Balance Sneakers-Remember how I’ve declared my love for a tennis skirt? Well what pairs better with that look than a cute neutral sneaker. I’ve had my eye on this style for a while and am so happy to see it at this price point.

Multichain Necklace-Yes, yes, yes! The perfect gift for any woman in your life or for you! I love adding new versatile jewelry items during this sale.

Running Shoes-I literally left my current pair of workout/running shoes in the garbage on Nantucket. I need a new pair of running shoes in my life and actually saw a friend wearing this pair yesterday. When I asked about the shoes, she gushed and gushed. She works in many OR’s and told me they’re THE most comfortable shoe she’s worn to surgery. I was SOLD!

Blazer-Blazers are ALL the rage this season and while there are some cute fall colored options, Texas doesn’t give me the best weather for getting all layered up in the fall. This blazer screams more “winter” and I’m here for that.

Running Shorts-How CUTE are these shorts?!

Western Boots-I’m a sucker for a western boot and this pair with the two-tone leather is adorable. The hardest part for me was deciding which color combination to go with.

Hooded Vest-The athletic wear in this sale never lets me down. I love a vest to pair over workout clothes or when I’m headed out for errands.

White Boots-I already have a pair of white boots but I included this pair for you! If you’ve been considering a white pair of boots, these are a great price point!

Full Zip Jacket-Athleisure jacket? YES, yes, yes!

Okay, I’m off to get a little work done before we enjoy our FINAL WEEKEND OF SUMMER!

Have a great one, friends!

Ok something similar happened to me sneakerwise. So I ordered a new pair and now I have one to wear when things are yucky outside and one to wear when nice.
