This was me on Saturday morning and it’ll be me again today….a quick 48 hour trip to my hometown in Missouri to celebrate a VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY.
My grandpa turned 90 earlier this week and to celebrate our family surprised him in his pew at church on Sunday morning. I flew in on Saturday, spent some fun time with my parents {without kids-when has that EVER happened?}, and then we all got PARTY READY on Sunday morning.
This was our crew…a party of TWENTY-FIVE all waiting patiently for the guest-of-honor to walk in for church. The other church guests started asking about why were there, word spread, and when my grandpa walked in…
the entire congregation yelled, “SURPRISE!!”. And then we all sang, “Happy Birthday”.
He was shocked!
My grandma said in the middle of church he leaned over to her and whispered, “What are we gonna feed all of them for lunch?”. haha! Like we hadn’t thought of that?
We had a special 90th Birthday celebration lunch set up in the fellowship hall. As soon as church was over our family all went over to enjoy a nice lunch with the birthday boy.
All of grandpa’s granddaughters in attendance 🙂
We were just missing two.
All the grand kids…love this crew so much!
Bill Hency {Bowen’s namesake} is such an amazing man. He has a special way of treating his family like each of us is his very favorite. I have no doubts-I’m his favorite grand child, but I also think every other grand child would say the same thing! I’m so very thankful I got to be in attendance for his big birthday!
Love this guy so much!
My sweet grandma was so nervous about letting something slip about this surprise, but he had no clue!
This couple is the sweetest!
After lunch we all shared special memories about Grandpa. We laughed, we cried, and HOPEFULLY we let him {and my grandma} know how much they mean to us.
Selfie with the Birthday Boy…and Ty and Morgan {two more of my faves}
The ENTIRE crew!
I went to bed last night with a big smile on my face…just so thankful for the man that he is, the impact he’s had on so many, and the fact that I was there to celebrate.
Happy 90th Birthday, Grandpa! I love you so much!
XO
