Hey There, Thursday! Hope you guys are having a great week! If you’re new here, let me catch you up. About a week and a half ago, my family of six drove to Rosemary Beach, Florida. We spent the long weekend in one of the cutest little towns in the U.S. It’s absolutely darling! Our oldest son, Nixon, had a baseball tournament in Panama City Beach from Wednesday-Sunday. We did our best to have the perfect mix of baseball and beach once that began. Today, I’m sharing all about our trip with a little recap. 🙂
I must share the crazy story that kicked off our trip. Wednesday, June 8th, I was solo mommin’ it with lots of sports, Tab’s flight had gotten majorly delayed, I was trying to finish packing us for the beach, and so as kids were showering that evening I went for a little walk. I just wanted a little quiet amidst the chaos. I was about fifteen minutes into my walk and a little bug flew in my eye. Pretty harmless, right? Except I could not get it out. It was at the bottom left outer corner of my eye and well, it felt like it had taken up residency there. It REALLY hurt. I tried and tried and finally just decided I’d walk home with one eye closed. By the time I got home, I was certain I’d somehow gotten an enormous beetle in my eye to discover it was a tiny little gnat. I got it out, went to bed and was expecting everything to be great the next day. But I woke up to a painful eye {still}. I kept thinking it just had to be sore because that bug was in there for quite a while the night before, but as the day went on it started hurting more and even swelling underneath my eye. Our plan was to leave town at 4:00 p.m. and around 1:00 p.m. I manically called our eye doctor who got me in immediately. Turns out that little bug had left something and it got infected causing all kinds of mucus to start forming under my eye. GROSS!!! I left with eye drops and enough time to barely shower and finish packing before we left town. Now if you see me walking down the sidewalk wearing swim goggles, you’ll know why!

We stayed Thursday night at a mid-way point between McKinney and Rosemary beach before arriving Friday afternoon. We were SO pumped to be there!

The bikes are always one of our favorite things about this area. We checked in, grabbed our bikes and were off. We managed to hop over to Seacrest to hear a little live music before going back to our condo for a College Baseball Game and spaghetti. Since we have no kitchen still at our house here in Texas, the idea of making some super simple meals on vacation was AMAZING! Everyone requested spaghetti with green beans and salad. I’m certain we’ve never had better spaghetti! It was delish!

Britt Slaughter LOVES the beach!

Accidentally captured this little gem!

We spent our days at the beach and typically ended in a pool before calling it a day.

SO STINKIN’ CUTE!

Tab and I took a few strolls around town in the early morning hours. I’d messed up and gotten coffee pods when our condo only had an actual coffee pot so on this particular morning we were strolling to coffee STAT!

Our youngest beach babe…on Monday our plan was to move over to a condo in Panama City Beach. We had two other family friends staying in this condo. I mentioned this before, but basically we got catfished. We had paid for something and were expecting one thing only to arrive and be delivered something very different. After one night with a super grumpy dad, we decided to team up with another family and move to a house.

This was us packing ALL our stuff again to head to the house.

Once we arrived and got everything unpacked at our house the baseball fun began!

These two little sisters made the best of some REALLY hot baseball games.

We celebrated a friend turning 13 with his requested lunch, Chipotle. You can take the boy out of Texas, but…

Our team had a big bonfire one evening that was super fun.

We had pizza, smores, birthday cookies, some whiffle ball games, and late night crab hunting.

Over the course of the last few tournaments every boy has earned some type of nickname. Nixon’s is Richard. Get it? With a first name like, “Nixon”, it’s hard to get named something else.

Oh, AND we had sparklers, great music, and some corn hole.

Just like that, Bowen and I flew back to Texas for his last regular season baseball tournament happening in Dallas. Tab and the other three stayed through the weekend and drove back on Monday.

I got a few pictures after I’d left…surfer girl for sure!

Sisters!!

A great way to end a fun week…medals!

They got 3rd Place! After one tough loss the bracket made it impossible for them to fight their way back to the championship but they won every game after earning 3rd Place! It was a great way to end the week!
Whew! If you made it all the way to the bottom of the post, YOU deserve a medal. ;). Thanks so much for reading today! See you tomorrow!

Hi Sarah! It’s SO cute! Um, we haven’t yet, but we’re working on it.
Love this recap and the pics! Besides the little condo “situation”, it seems like it was an awesome trip!!! And I hadn’t heard about your eye. That’s terrible! Thank heavens you got into the eye doctor before you left!
Girl-I was a MESS!
Erika! My family was inspired by you and got SUPER into the College World Series (Ole Miss!!) We made a spontaneous trip to Omaha and had the time of our lives- your boys would love it it! I’m telling you- we had the best time and are planning on going back next year- super family friendly, great food, beautiful weather and passionate baseball fans- people in Omaha are so darn nice You definitely need to make it happen for your family- can not rave enough about the atmosphere- so fun!
Oh my gosh! This is the coolest! Let me tell you-Nixon is about to die! His two favorite teams {because his Vandy team let him down} are playing in the championship!! AAAHHH!! Needless to say, we’ll be glued to the television on Saturday night!
