A Big Catch-Up

HEY HEY HEY!! I’m kicking off this blog post VERY on-brand. I got that selfie pic of my skort to upload, but I didn’t want it to be the first thing you see. AAAHHHH!!! It’s like my blog has said, “No, Erika, this is the picture that MUST kickoff your return to the blog.” Because it’s not letting me delete it now nor is it allowing the picture to be moved. So, here we are. A headless picture of me to kickoff my return. See what I mean? Very on-brand, right? Still having technology issues after ALL these years. :). ha!

But it’s so glad to be back! I always leave town with big intentions of sharing throughout my day, finishing blog posts while I’m there, and taking TONS of pictures. Let me tell you when the salty air hits my face it’s like I forget about all of that. Before I dive into the vacation pictures {those are coming tomorrow}, I just had lots of things to catch you up on, so here we go…

First up, scroll back to that top pic. haha! I found the cutest, lightest, most perfect length skort which just happens to come in the prettiest color. I ordered my true size and it fits perfectly. If you’re digging skorts this season like me, you should give this one a try.

You know how there are kids who play sports who are uber competitive? There are kids who play sports because they love the game. And then we often laugh because there’s Bowen who plays because he loves the accolades. He plays for the bling and the applause. Don’t get me wrong-he loves the sport and wants to win BUT he really likes to have the coolest gear and big hits.

The week before we left to go out of town was the craziest, busiest, wackiest week in my summer calendar {at least I hope}. Tab was out of town and all four kids had some sports camp that didn’t overlap times, plus Nixon played in a two day baseball tournament in the middle of the week and he had two basketball games thrown into the evening plans for good measure.

Britt attended volleyball camp at our local high school and loved it! She was super pumped to see a friend in day one. Watching them warm up like the big girls was the cutest thing!

And at the end of the week, guess who walked away with the Hustler Award for her age group? BRITT SLAUGHTER!

I typically head to outdoor events with my hair thrown back in a baseball hat, but I have a mom friend who always shows up looking so cute in a beach hat paired with her outfit. I did my best one day to sit out in the hot hot sun while watching baseball. Tank, skort, hat, and please notice the crazy behind that is our house. 😉

I carpooled with some neighborhood mamas so these girls got to hang together-super fun group of girlies!

I must have looked super frazzled that week because while my kids can be super sweet and kind after a late basketball game on the drive home, Nixon looked over and goes, “Mom, thanks for driving me all over and for coming to basketball.” Melt my heart and made my crazy week worth it. But I also thought-I must look exhausted. hahaha!

Ebby Lee’s FAVORITE thing is an acai bowl from Vitality Bowl here in McKinney. She took the pic and wanted me to share with everyone. We should all give it a try. It’s her FAVORITE!

Last year these four all played on the same baseball team. This year they’re each other’s competition on the field, but still besties off the field. Super cool to see them come together after playing.

And one more skort because it’s my summer uniform! This was a gem that kept popping up on my Instagram until finally I realized that Instagram was right-I did, in fact, need to try this skort. I ordered my typical size and it fits great! I paired mine with this tank, which is also true to size.

Okay, friends…I’ve got a crazy while story that happened to me the night before we were leaving town. WHAT are the odds? I’ll kickoff my beach pics with that wild story and see you right back here tomorrow!
