Spring Break in Mexico

Before we even begin the Spring Break talk, I’ve gotta start with a little story since it’s St. Patrick’s Day! Years ago, I was at the mall on St. Patrick’s Day dressed in something other than green. As I was walking through the mall, a random guy walked over to me, pinched my arm, and said, “Because you’re not wearing green”. HOW WEIRD!! RIGHT?! I. Was. Speechless. So please when you’re choosing your clothes today remember this story and save yourself. Wear some green just in case you might come across that same guy I saw at the mall all those years ago. 🙂

Growing up my school never had an official, “Spring Break”, but my goodness I’m glad my kids get one now! A week off prior to the kickoff to the busiest season right before everything ramps up? SIGN ME UP! It was a little touch-and-go on if we’d really be able to make it up until the Friday RIGHT before we left. I’m looking at you, Passports. ;).

Before I share some pictures, I thought I want to begin with this…

  1. I was THE WORST blogger on this vacation. I one hundred percent fell into pure vacation mode and hardly took any pictures at all. BIG FAIL!
  2. We stayed at the JW Marriott in Cancun. We’d never visited this property before and wanted to check it out. Great news-it was STUNNING!
  3. We only had Monday-Friday without other commitments so we caught a super early flight on Monday in order to maximize the most of our day and found ourselves having lunch on the beach. We did the opposite on Friday and left in the early evening. Since our time was a bit shorter we skipped out on any excursions and just enjoyed the beach and pool as much as possible.
  4. I spend most of my day times planning vacations for others. I work at Mix and Match Travel Agency {usually booking Disney vacations}, but there are girls in our office who would love to help you! If you’d like to visit yourself, please head over to our website to learn a little more about our services.

The Slaughter family spent four nights and five full days at this STUNNING resort living our best lives.

Remember my comment above about my little blogging fail mishap? Exhibit A…I forgot to take pictures on our first day. I wanted you to see our room…we had a king suite that connected to a room with two queen beds complete with two and a half bathrooms. The extra space was glorious!

This living area had an extra balcony and then it connected to the kids’ room. {It’s not pictured because well, it was day two and a mess.} Britt’s dress is here.

Two Slaughter girls ready for dinner! My dress is old from this cute boutique.

Dinner with some gorgeous views!

My cover-up is this one, swimsuit is from here, and my hat is Amazon.

The best views to wake up to everyday.

We spent our time between the beach and the pool just going back and forth.

The weather was in the 80’s everyday, nice and sunny with one little fifteen minute rain. That’s it! It was quick enough we all huddled under the huts by the pool and then it was gone.

Let me introduce you to the latest Slaughter fish. At the end of the summer last year, Britt was doing pretty well, but wasn’t one hundred percent swimming. However, I didn’t want to kick off the year with her using any kind of floatie. So we did our best and she PICKED IT UP SO WELL! Her swimsuit is this one.

The property was located right beside the Marriott resort with a little walkway between the properties. That was so nice because we had the option to visit any of the restaurants without officially leaving the property.

The little building at the bottom is where we had a delicious breakfast each morning.

Crazy girlies…we were on a mission for the perfect tween/teenish swimsuit and we both loved this one. We might have gotten it in three colors. ;). Britt’s suit is this one.

Old suit paired with a new cover-up.

We had a great little getaway.

And we’re already looking forward to returning!

And just like that…we landed back in Dallas in our sunny weather clothes to temperatures in the 30’s! Back to life…if you sent in a question about our vacation, I’ve got a post coming next week answering them all! Thanks so much for reading today, everyone!

XO

That sounds like an amazing trip! Sadly our April/spring vacation is never a time we can travel because in high school sports still go on even during vacation… it makes it so hard for even little day trips!
