The last time I shared one of these posts I was crawling to the finish line that was the last day of school. WHEW! That Erika and this Erika are very different. Aren’t all of us way different moms by the end of the school year? We’re almost three weeks into school and right at this moment {don’t worry, it doesn’t happen for long} I’m still very much on my “A” game with lunches, dinners, e-mails, Sign-Up-Geniuses, and such.
Anyway, it’s time for little peek at what’s CURRENTLY happening at the Slaughter House. This is what’s CURRENTLY going down…
Making: I’m trying to figure out how to make dinner tonight a little extra special. This week officially kicks off football season. Ebby Lee is cheering in her first game of the season tonight and Nixon plays in his first high school football game tomorrow. It’s a special week around here so we’re gonna celebrate just a bit. 😉
Cooking: Tonight, even though it’s still summer temps here in Texas, we’re embracing the football + fall vibe so we’re having chili with all the fixings. I’m gonna make it and have it simmering in the slow cooker all day so we can eat when we’re back from the game.
Drinking: Hmmm…I’m currently sipping my afternoon cup of coffee while I work on this post {Tuesday afternoon}. And I allowed myself to run out of my favorite creamer so it doesn’t taste as good as normal.
Eating: I just finished an afternoon snack of a Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Protein Ball. I grabbed mine from Costco last week but even Walmart sells these. They taste like dessert but are good for you! I love adding these to the kids’ lunches as well!
Reading: I’m about 1/3 of the way into The Housemaid is Watching. I read the other two books a while back and am enjoying the third book of the series.
Wanting: To me there’s nothing like the scent of apples in the fall {and I know I’m stretching it, it’s not fall yet}. Give me ALL THE APPLE candles this time of year through September. Yes, yes, yes! But I’m WANTING Bath & Body Works to put their candles on sale. Knowing they’re on sale so often, makes me never wanna pay full price. Anyone know when they’ll go on sale?
Looking: Into Homecoming mums. I love a good tradition but this Missouri girl is so out of her comfort zone on anything mum-related. So here I am texting other moms and doing all the research on these Texas mums!
Playing: “Get to know you” with our A/C guy. hahahahaha! Apparently when our house was built in the 90’s the builder thought it’d be a great idea to use four units to cool this house. Enter my new friendship with the A/C guy. Over the last month we’ve had lots of problems and it’s kind of like playing whack-a-mole figuring out which unit is the trouble each week.
Wasting: Hmmmm…always lettuce.
Buying: Apple candles-just not this week! 😉 Do you have another brand you’d recommend? I’m on the hunt!
Wishing: These boys of mine were small enough to let me choose their hair cuts. Anyone agree?? With all this hair I feel like we have to schedule way more hair cuts than we used to!
Loving: This season of Big Brother! It started with a bang and just keeps entertaining me even more. Typically it feels like a big group runs the house for many weeks which is boring to watch!
Hoping: This football season is a great one! WE ARE EXCITED!
Marveling: At this community and how kind you are. Thank you for your prayers for the “S” family. Like I said in my post on Friday, it’s not my family personally but just friends going through a really hard time. Thank you for the prayers.
Needing: To get my fall decorations out of the attic just to get us in the spirit.
Smelling: Right now I’m burning this Apple Strudel candle. It smells divine! And to keep it real, the broccoli smell from last night is still hanging around a bit too. WHY does broccoli smell so terrible?!
Wearing: This tennis dress is one repeat! {Comes in other colors}.
And since getting this Amazon top I’ve ordered it in other colors because I liked it so much!
Praying: For my friend. XO
Noticing: I got a text from Bowen {from a friends’ phone because he doesn’t have one yet} just this morning saying that he’d forgotten his shoes for athletics. So, my mom drove them up to school for him. Then a bit later I was getting something out of the refrigerator and noticed he left his lunch as well!
Knowing: This long weekend will be SO NICE!
Thinking: Some of these questions are a bit similar. If you’re still reading, you’re too kind.
Opening: The latest thing I opened was a pack of arm sweat bands for one of the kids for football.
Giggling: About how this “non-dog owner” is smitten with Champ. Even my mom who’s not a fan of dogs has shared how she’s walked him daily, taken him out on errands to get the kids, and even more. Isn’t that funny? I think she’s falling in love a bit herself.
I hope you guys have a great Wednesday!
XO
