What’s Up Wednesday {A Week Late}

This post is coming at you a week late, but who’s really counting? I had the post started and that darn airplane wi-fi let me down so here we are…What’s Up Wednesday! I’m gonna link up with Sheaffer and Shay to answer a little about what’s going on around here.

What We’re Eating This Week

I’m like a BROKEN RECORD. I know. I know. Same story, new verse BUT we still are living sans-kitchen. However, Tab and I are waving the white flag again and are gonna move over to G and M’s house this weekend. After way too many meals out, even my kids are craving vegetables. ha! The few spaces we did have and were basically hoarding in those places are now covered in plastic because the walls are getting re-textured before the crew starts painting. All that to say, this is hopefully our last week of random, quick meals out.

Monday: Tab and I got back into town and every kid had something. I took a couple kids to a local Mexican food spot. Tab and his crew had Hat Creek.

Tuesday: When I say, we’ve eaten it ALL. I really mean it. Mexican food won again and it was my mom’s last night here to visit so we had fajitas, guacamole, and all the things before sending her back to Missouri this morning.

Wednesday: I’m not really sure. My plan is to get us partly moved to Marla’s so hopefully I can whip up a quick spaghetti.

Thursday: My hope is to have a nice dinner brewing in Marla’s slow cooker for us to eat post-sports but I’m not sure the time will work out that way. Fingers crossed!

Friday: Friday kicks off our first real legit Fall Break our school is having. And I scheduled, FAMILY PICTURES! haha! The funny thing is typically I’d say we’re gonna go eat somewhere nice after family pics but I think the plan is to go back to Marla’s and cook a REAL MEAL with our cute hair and all.

What I’m Reminiscing About

The State Fair of Texas is BACK! I’m not really sure why but it’s one of my favorite fall things. Last year we just couldn’t find a date that would work for all six of us. Middle school sports can zap the free nights right out from under you! So, I have high hopes that at least a couple Slaughters can attend this year. Only time will tell.

What I’m Loving

HOUSE PROGRESS!! Another house update is coming soon!

What We’ve Been Up To

Oh, just spent a week in Munich and London! We have so many fun stories, so many memories, and my goodness-so much laundry. 🙂

What I’m Working On

Lots and lots of Disney clients over at Mix and Match Travel Agency. The fall is one of the best time to visit because the fall decor is adorable, the Halloween party is a blast, and the weather is typically amazing. If you’re considering a fall break vacation next year, keep us in mind! We’d love to help you!

What I’m Excited About

Britt joined some friends at tennis earlier this week and she might have found something she really enjoys! She asked if she gets to go again this week. I love when my kids find things they enjoy doing!

What I’m Watching/Reading

I FINALLY read two of the most popular books readers have been reading for YEARS! And I loved them just as much as everyone said I would. :). I should listen more often!

The Tattooist of Auschwitz-We visited Dachau Concentration Camp on our trip last week so this one hit a little harder. Wow. Just wow. The Tattooist a novel based on experiences from one man and I had ALL THE FEELS! I highly recommend this read, friends. I can’t even do a little summary justice. It’s GOOD!

It Ends With Us-I also finally read Colleen Hoover’s romance novel where Lily, who meets Ryle, and then falls head over heels. They have some issues early on in their relationship and Lily has some hard decisions to make….once again, I should have listened to all the hype sooner!

What I’m Listening To

Construction sounds are all around! {Still the case!}

What I’m Wearing

I have a little round up of some of my vacation outfits…

THE BEST Travel outfit! I paired this tank with the most comfy pants ever! And then I had my denim jacket on the flight just in case I got chilly.

One day of sightseeing had me in this plaid sweater, jeans {on sale}, and waterproof boots.

Another day, another sightseeing outfit…sweater, coat, hat {also on sale}, and boots {I can only recommend the boots for a small time. I wore them way too long, walking way too much. 3/5 of my toes on my right foot are still numb!}

I bought these pants at the end of summer with a perfect fall day in mind…who knew it’d happen first in London?! Pants and plaid top.

I don’t even remember the last time I had a blazer but this one caught my eye….blazer {sold out but where I grabbed mine}, bodysuit, and leather pants.

What I’m Doing This Weekend

My kids have an extra long weekend for Fall Break so we have major plans to get moved over to my in-laws, HOME COOKED meals, and we’ll probably all fight over sitting on the couch. hahah! We haven’t had a couch since June!

What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month

So many things…our house being complete, us moving back in fully, Thanksgiving, football games, Britt and Bowen’s birthdays and so much more!

Thanks for reading today!

XO

    The Tattooist is a great book and then afterwards you should read, “Cilka’s Journey” which is about one of the women from the Tattooist.
