Thanksgiving 2024 Recap

Happy DECEMBER 2nd! EEEEKK!!

I’m gonna jump right in where I left off with a little recap of our Thanksgiving Break. On Friday, November 22nd, the Lovejoy Leopards played their second round playoff football game in Midland, Texas {which is about five and half hours from here}. We loaded up on a big charter bus along with other Leopard fans to arrive with extra school spirit.

My pic is a little hard to see but can you see that score? Another LOVEJOY WIN!

WAHOO! And then we hopped back on that bus and drove {at a very low speed I’d like to add-ha!} back. We pulled in our driveway around 5:30 a.m. and immediately all showered before a big nap! But it was a super exciting way to kickoff Thanksgiving Break!

On Saturday I was already in the spirit and did all I could to get all four of the kids on the Christmas train with me! Hard to see but we’re all five in there {Tab was in Miami for a game}. We went out to our favorite local BBQ restaurant, hit up the mall {on a Saturday night-EEK!}, and then drove through a local light display while enjoying some ice cream for dessert. This is a fancy pic where the top part is the views we were seeing and the bottom part is a selife in our car.

After church and a nap, I’d bought us all tickets for The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. I used to read this book to my third grade classes every year so it was extra sweet for me to watch. I’d say the story has THE BEST MESSAGES! It’s a good one to watch to remind us all what’s REALLY important this season and we’ve often referenced being an “Imogene” or “Herdman” since watching.

My leopard print bomber jacket is on MAJOR sale today! I’d say the jacket runs a bit on the bigger side so keep that in mind when sizing. This was my “get stuff done errand running look” on Tuesday around town. I was still excited about that Leopard win. Can you tell? ha! I’m in these platform boots. They’re kind of trendy but sporty too and comfy!

I know I mentioned this in my post last week but 5/6 of us flew to Detroit on Wednesday for Thanksgiving. Nix has been practicing with varsity for playoffs and they had work to do! So he stayed here with a family friend for Thanksgiving. On Wednesday morning after practice, the sub varsity players had a Turkey Bowl. Another mom snapped a pic for me. Nix had a blast!

Meanwhile we arrived in Detroit and got all settled into our hotel. This also was Bowen’s actual birthday but we’d opened presents and done dinner {his choice} the night before we left.

Before we headed to downtown Detroit for a little brunch and to see a few sights.

This girly has been to many more football games than she’d probably like but she always has the best attitude and somehow manages to get into the game. I don’t have any other pictures of the evening but we had dinner after officials had their meetings with the rest of the crew/families.

Thanksgiving morning didn’t disappoint with gorgeous weather for the Lions/Bears game!

We were EXCITED to be there!

GORGEOUS views! Always love the energy inside a football stadium!

That handsome guy in the black/white spotted us {notice the wave}.

Look who popped over to visit a bit during the game!

Marla and I hadn’t been to an NFL game together in years so this was extra fun!

Kind of hard to see but my shirt said, “Friendsgiving 2024”. We got to enjoy the holiday with our extended football family {I LOVE this lady! Our husbands officiated together in college for a bit as well so we’ve known their family for years. She’s held young Slaughter hands in the midst of many football crowds so I didn’t lose anyone and listened to an upset Erika vent many times-usually about family schedules} and about 60,000+ of our friends. hahaha!

After the game, we all made our way to the Shull House for a traditional Thanksgiving meal! This was such a fun addition to our Thanksgiving Day game to hang out with this crew, watch football, and eat all the fixings.

Our flight left a bit before noon on Friday morning and we made it to round #3 before half time! And WAHOOO!! For another Lovejoy win…on to round #4!

Saturday we got our life in order with laundry, unpacking, etc. and we watched a TON of football! Rivalry week is GOOD! Excited about the next four weeks in preparation for Christmas! Happy Monday, Friends! Thankful you were here today!

XO
