Slaughters Sail to Alaska-Part 2

Happy Thursday, Friends!

If you missed my Part 1 of our Alaska Trip, please check it out here. Apparently my blog vacation was too long because I forgot how to, “Publish”. 😉 You can read all about our pre-cruise stay in Seattle as well as how we spent our first day on the ship.

We’re gonna pick up right where we left off yesterday. Our first full day on the ship happened to be a full day at sea so we did a lot of this…

Uno was on repeat in the Observation Lounge. Gorgeous views and cards are totally my jam!

That evening we watched a show in the theater and then had dinner in the Manhattan Room.

Instead of taking a group pic, we did two by twos.

If you follow along with Mix and Match Travel Agency’s Instagram, then you might recognize some of these pictures. For Takeover Tuesday, I took over the MMT Instagram and shared a Day-in-the-Life on the Norwegian Encore.

Our Day two was a morning on the ship followed by one of my favorite stops, Junea, Alaska.

Tab and I got up while the kiddos were still sleeping to hit up the gym.

A little view from the back of the gym. 🙂

We knew the kiddos would still be asleep so we grabbed breakfast and coffee before going back to the staterooms to get them. This was my favorite breakfast…bacon, tomato, onion, and cheese omelet with fried rice {my heart fell in love with a little fried rice with eggs in China}, and a hashbrown. It was absolutely delicious and I’ve missed it daily since we got home.

These cuties got up and we joined them for another cup of coffee while they ate breakfast. Britt’s breakfast each morning was watermelon and scrambled eggs. Two of her favorite things!

We hit up the go-karts and…

Galaxy Pavilion, a virtual reality arcade.

Then we hit up the old school arcade full of Mario Kart and basketball.

All four were fans…can you tell?

We popped into the Atrium just in time for Balloon Animals.

And someone discovered he had a secret talent.

This is the spot I’d grab a little daily snack…sometimes loaded nachos, sometimes chili, sometimes pretzel bites. It differed depending on my mood. We also fit in a legit lunch before we got off the ship for our Juneau stop.

We kicked it off by enjoying the little town with some window shopping.

This little area had to be my favorite.

They served crepes, seafood, and more. I was so bummed I’d already eaten breakfast, a snack, and lunch at this point. haha!

We met up with our tour for the day and made our way out to the marina where we had four hours of fishing and whale watching on a little private boat.

We spotted lots of bald eagles.

These two were pumped about being on the water for the evening.

Tab and I couldn’t get over these views…gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.

Our captain took us over to this location so we could spot lots of sea lions enjoying the sun.

We absolutely love being out on the water. Many of our favorite parts of a vacation involve us six on some kind of boat. This one proved to be the same…loved spending our evening on the boat.

We spotted several whales…I’m definitely not a wildlife photographer so imagine this being way cooler in person.

Nix was successful with a catch!

After lots of this, it slipped right off the hook.

I was expecting a cool, cloudy, rainy day but Juneau delivered with the gorgeous weather. The sun came out and we began peeling off layers. It was absolutely perfection!

The girls having the best kind of evening.

Can you spy that light blue amidst the dark trees and mountains? That’s a glacier!

The face we often get to see. 🙂

When we got back to the dock, the guys who’d just gotten off another boat had caught a TON of fish! We couldn’t believe it!

And around 9:00 p.m. we got dropped off back at our ship where we grabbed a little bit to eat before catching some sleep. Day #2 was an absolutely great one!

Just a friendly reminder, if you’d like to set sail on an Alaskan Cruise or are interested in a Walt Disney World vacation, Caribbean vacation, or many many other destinations, please reach out to us to learn more! Mix and Match Travel Agency would absolutely love to help you!

See you back here tomorrow for some Friday Favorites! And crossing my fingers this post goes live at the correct time! ha!

I’ve never been on a cruise, but Alaska is definitely on my bucket list! What amenities are included in the cost of the cruise – like, did you have to pay extra for go-karting, the VR, the theater show, the boat tour, etc., or is it an “all inclusive” type of thing? Can’t wait to see more pics – such gorgeous scenery!

Hi Jen! Great question-the shows on board, resort, food, etc. are all included. Most cruise lines run certain promotions that might include upgraded wi-fi, specialty dining packages, premium drink packages, etc. It just kind of depends on when you book and what promo is happening at the time. The go-karts and VR were additional costs on the ship and all excursions are additional as well. The great thing about Alaskan ports is you could get off the ship and have a special excursion planned or get off the ship and enjoy the town.

I love Juneau!!! What a fabulous excursion for you guys! I’m beyond jealous of the coats you were wearing. Bahahaha!

Love this! We went on an Alaskan cruise in 2019 and one of my favorite memories/parts was how the giant cruise ships just literally pull right up into town, like in your picture at Juneau. That and the views while sailing are just too beautiful to describe! We are so hoping to do another in the next few years. Do you guys also help plan land-sea cruises? Thanks for sharing!

My mom and I spent 12 days in Fairbanks in 2020, but the next time we go to Alaska , I hope Juneau is one of the stops. I’ve seen pcitures and it looks beautiful. I am looking forward to the rest of your posts. Maybe I’ll find more stops to see in the future!

*also, as an Ole Miss alumna, I enjoyed seeing Nix in an Ole Miss hoodie while fishing:)

Rachel, the views were breathtaking! You’ll love it! And coming from an Ole Miss grad, Nixon said, “thank you”. haha! Ole Miss’ baseball team has won his Oklahoma-loving heart over. He’s torn…OU, Ole Miss, and Vandy are his favorites.
