Happy Happy Wednesday! I can’t even believe I’m typing this but we’ve done the summer camps, we’ve done the lazy summer days, we had an amazing two week vacation and now my mama self is ready for the routine only the beginning of the school year can bring. Don’t worry! I’ll enjoy the next couple weeks! I’m not going to wish the days away but I can sense the beginning of the school year on the horizon and I don’t hate it. 😉
I started to recap the entire half part of our Rosemary Beach trip and then decided New Orleans deserved it’s own spot right here on my blog. This was my second time visiting The Big Easy and guys, it didn’t disappoint! I love so much about this city…the architecture, the food {YES!!}, and the music are at the top of my list of faves!
Our beach vacation rental began on Saturday technically at 4:00 p.m. so we left town mid-morning Friday {after dropping Champ off at the trainer/boarder for two+ weeks} and made our way to The Crescent City. We had a little mishap with the location for where Champ would be which cost us an extra hour BEFORE WE EVEN GOT OUT OF TOWN! URG! I was sweetly reminded that even though I’d LOVE for Tab to have the gift, he can’t read my mind. 😉
We pulled into New Orleans in just enough time to grab dinner and head to our haunted carriage tour.
I shared this yesterday but it’s worth another share…THIS set {I bought in navy} feels like a Varley set but with an Amazon price tag. YES! I’ve washed and dried it already and it held up great! My slides are these from H & M. This was my first real time wearing these slides and we rolled into town JUST in time so we didn’t have time to change. I walked Bourbon Street in this outfit! ha! And the slides gave me a couple blisters, but now they’re great! I guess they just had to get used to the shoes.
We popped into a restaurant super close to our hotel. {Don’t even remember the name, but the food was great and the atmosphere was casual enough our travel clothes fit in just fine.}. We had gumbo, oysters, shrimp, fish, crawfish…we had all the things!
And instead of getting an Uber to take us to the meeting spot for our tour, we decided to walk through Bourbon Street to really give the kids the full experience. {Keep in mind, it was like 8:00…not too late.}
Such a fun experience!
Don’t let this picture fool you…it was HOT in The Big Easy!
Tab had booked us a Haunted Carriage Tour the night before and the driver ended up telling us we were super lucky. They don’t let the carriages go if the temperature gets above a certain temp, but that day was a tad cooler.
The driver told some spooky stories {super PG} and drove us through different parts of the city.
On our tour Bourbon Street appeared to have gotten a little livelier!
Should you decide to do this carriage ride keep in mind the back row middle seat HAS to be the warmest. Guess where yours truly was sitting? #iwashot
After our hour long look at the city we were right back where we started.
A SUPER great way to see so much and learn so much about New Orleans!
For day two of the drive, I’d packed THE perfect travel set.
Our first stop was Cafe Du Monde for some world famous beignets!
They were DELISH! But more importantly, the live music from a local jazz band was my FAVORITE!
You can see the band playing to the crowd behind us.
We paused for a couple minutes in Jackson Square…stunning views!
Before we crammed everyone in the car for the final leg of our trip!
New Orleans, we loved you! The music, the people, the food, AND your gorgeous buildings made this quick stop an amazing one! Until next time!
XO
Well you know I want to visit too! Day #1 already looks like so much fun!! You also know I’m not wishing away anything but itching for a routine.
YES!!
I followed your lead on the H&M slides in black. I love them, but I also had to power through the breaking in blisters! And do yours squeak?!?!? Mine are so loud!
BAHAHAHAHA! My toes bled for days! But I haven’t noticed the squeaking. Beauty is pain, right? hahaha!
We start school after labor day so I’m always so surprised by the southern states going back so early. Does your high school have required preseason practices for fall sports? My kids always had to be back by mid-August for 2x/ day practices before school started in Sep. Does that start for you guys in July?
No, they can’t officially start practices here until the week school starts. Probably because we start so early and the summer heat they aren’t allowed to practice any sooner.
What a fun little spot! And now I’m craving gumbo!
You and me both! I’m on a mission to make gumbo WELL this school year! Wish me luck!
What a fun day! Thanks for sharing, can’t wait for more trip updates!
