Happy Happy Friday, Friends!
Well, it happened.
We are BACK IN SCHOOL in the Slaughter House! Somehow it felt like it came around quicker than normal but I never felt more prepared than I did this year. We were all ready! Maybe this tells me that it takes me approximately eleven years, then I can master it? hahahaha! My oldest is in tenth grade, after all. 😉
I’m here with my girl, Andrea, to share some FAVORITES from my week…
Let’s talk about some FAVORITE arrivals! Now that school is BACK in session my mind set is shifting to more transitional tops that give off more of a “fall vibe” versus “meet me at the pool”. This top is DARLING! I love the length, the style, and the puff sleeve. I’m in the purple medium. It comes in several other stripe varieties and I’m currently trying to decide how many of the same striped top is too many? I wore this earlier this week and got compliments from two different friends while I had it on. It’s a good one!
The detailing of this eyelet top is difficult to see in the black BUT it’s there! Cute details, eyelet, and puff sleeves make it easy to pair with shorts, jeans, etc. I’m in the small and it fits great. I also ordered in a red and I’ll keep you posted on which color I prefer, but comes in many others as well.
It’s no secret I’m a fan of FOOTBALL SEASON! Every year I tend to add some new merch for the upcoming season. You know my house is full of football fans so to keep things extra interesting we {the kids and I} have teams, do some trash talking, and it makes everything a bit more fun. I added this short sleeve sweatshirt to my closet. It’s SUPER comfy, is oversized so I can wear it with leggings or I tucked it in this pic.
This is where I find my FAVORITE NFL gear!
I was envisioning pairing this half zip top with leggings this fall/winter but the color makes it a great fall transitional top with shorts. I’m in the medium taupe. Again, this comes in many different colorways.
Hi! My name is Erika and I love a good dupe! This Amazon pullover is an amazing dupe for the Free People pullover. I actually have the FP one in red/navy and when I spotted the red/black dupe decided I needed to try it. We have one school and two teams that are red/black so adding this to my wardrobe at a FRACTION of the price was a no brainer. Overall, it’s more lightweight than the FP one but other than that, a GREAT choice! I’m in the medium and this one comes in so many adorable colorways. You can’t go wrong! Fingers crossed you find your team colors as well!

My FAVORITE eleven-year-old started middle school yesterday! EEEKK!!! Bowen is more ready than any other Slaughter I’ve ever sent to middle school so it was an easy drop off for my mama heart.
He met up with lots of friends for a couple pics before walking into school.
The first day yesterday looked VERY different for us. Ebby Lee got picked up by a friend {who drives} and rode to school with her. I snapped the cutest pic of her but she politely asked me not to post that. :). Nixon had early morning football practice and left with his carpool WAY early. He was dressed for football and not for school so I didn’t take a pic of him. And then Britt woke up feeling yucky so she missed her first day back. She was so sad! But fingers crossed it was a quick little bug! Needless to say, no family group pic of the first day in our house!

Speaking of back to school, they’ve only been in school one full day BUT our schedule this week warranted a more “back to school” type of meal situation. I’m always on the hunt for new ideas so I’m sharing mine…
–Slow Cooker Meatballs…these were DELISH! And the type of recipe EVERYONE ate!
-Salmon Bowls…I’ve shared this 43728975894207 times. Now my people eat so much salmon I can’t make it in the air fryer so I bake salmon with some blackened seasoning in my oven. Meanwhile, I make rice, broccoli, edamame, slice up cucumbers, red onion and avocado, and any other veggies I have on hand. Everyone’s bowl looks different but they’ll all adding what veggies they prefer.
-TACOS-I tried a new to me way to make my taco meat. I saw this online…I added the leanest ground beef and taco seasoning to my slow cooker and cooked it on low all day. Then when all of my people were home, I drained any excess grease {wasn’t much} and we assembled tacos. EASY PEASY!
–Baked Chicken-Marla makes a version of this she’s famous for. I actually put this chicken dish together while making breakfast one morning. Then I wrapped it all up and popped it on the oven about two hours prior to dinner. We had this one over rice with broccoli on the side. My people gobbled it up so quickly there weren’t even leftovers.
If you need a new idea or a little inspiration, hope one of those above helps. 🙂

This girly was wearing a FAVORITE look for her meet the teacher night earlier this week.

One of Champ’s FAVORITE times of the day…when we walk. :). If you have a new puppy, let me be an encouragement to you by letting you know Champ is far from perfect but this July/August he turned the corner. In a weird way, I feel like he understands English, FINALLY! hahaha! The kids and I joke about him going to that boarder/training program for two weeks this summer. We don’t feel like he really learned much except how to bark louder, BUT we do think he came back home and realized he lives a very cushy life here in the Slaughter House. He came back grateful and while it’d have been real nice for him to come back and not jump on house guests, I guess I’ll take his grateful heart as a consolation prize.

There are so many things I’d prefer from the 90’s over our current day and age BUT grocery delivery is something I’m so thankful for. It’s a FAVORITE!

Tomorrow my FAVORITE guy has a birthday! He’s been out of town all week for football but we’ll get to see him tomorrow and will celebrate big! Hope you guys have a great weekend!
See you back here on Monday!
