Well, it happened.
Yesterday, I turned forty years old.
I thought I’d wake up and immediately need readers to see my phone, paper or possibly even a book but it didn’t hit me on day one. 😉 That’s the ONE thing I hear everyone say about turning forty!
Tab left on Tuesday, August 1st, for his first training camp of the season. He’ll be popping in and out all month long but will be way more “out” than “in”. He has four camps to attend this month plus three preseason games. Needless to say our busy month has officially kicked off.

Remember when we celebrated my birthday early with an amazing getaway to Turks? This right here was exactly why we celebrated early. I knew the chaos would arrive around August 2nd and we’re here! ha!
I was expecting a super chill low-key day yesterday and it ended up being one of my favorite days so I’m sharing all the fun surprises that came my way.

I awoke to the most fun yard sign! How fun is this?! {Courtesy of the bestie, celebrating all the way from Nantucket..on a group text, my neighbor was giving Tab credit and I could tell by his response he had absolutely nothing to do with it!}. I took it slow and had TWO cups of coffee on my special day. Then headed to the gym for a quick workout. Ebby Lee, Britt and I popped into the nail salon to get pedicures and meanwhile several of my neighbors dropped off THE SWEETEST gift with flowers! We had planned to meet some friends at the pool that afternoon and I was expecting a “happy birthday” when we arrived with a popsicle mid-way through the pool session. I was all kinds of wrong! My friends SHOWED UP with cake, snacks, presents, and even candles! SO sweet! The kids and I had a sushi dinner delivered and then my sweet in-laws brought over a homemade peach pie for dessert. Add in so many calls, texts, and messages wishing me a great day and well, it was such a good one!
Apparently even CBS got the memo I was turning 40 on August 2nd because Big Brother premiered last night so the kids and I watched that before bed. Let’s discuss….
*Did you watch?
*WHY did they start this season so late in the summer? If my calculations are correct this means the finale of Big Brother won’t air until early November. WHY would CBS want to be airing this show in the fall?
*I always think the first couple episodes start off rocky. It takes me a bit to really get invested in a new group of people so the verdict is still out on the group.
*I thought the whole premise of the “Mega-verse” with the “Humil-iverse” and others were ridiculous! We’re not watching for a unique storyline. We want new challenges and maybe a fun twist mid-way through the season. Julie hadn’t even gotten out a few words out before revealing “a new twist” every fourth sentence. Slow down, Julie!
*We watched four challenges last night and that last challenge with the four people holding onto their grips for fear of being taken to the “Nether Regions”. Um, nether regions. WHY did we choose that location? WHY not just say Cory went to the underworld or the abyss? Nether region seems ALL KINDS OF WRONG to use there. Don’t you think?
Of course I’ll be tuning in for the next episode but PLEASE let me know what you thought if you watched!
The moral to this post today is I had so many people who loved on me yesterday-THANK YOU to ALL OF YOU!! My goal this year is to pass that on…send the birthday text, drop off a birthday treat, or make that phone call! Time is ticking right by us, friends. Let’s make our people feel extra loved this year! At least that’s my goal. Just thought I’d encourage you to do the same! Have a great Thursday!
XO

BB was pushed to Fall because of the writers strike, so to fill the void of shows that require writers. I think they casted a “nice” group of folks who will use game strategy and not personal attacks to move further in the game.
Now THAT makes a lot of sense! Watching is a big commitment-three days a week, which seems really tricky in the fall.
Awwwwww!!! I am SO HAPPY you had a special birthday!! 40 looks really good on you! (Unless you’re asking me in the dark because as you recall, at 41, I started to need glasses when I drove at night and basically, you’re blurry to me in the dark… 😉 ).
SEE…the eyes!! I was expecting them to go yesterday.
Happy belated birthday! So glad you had such a good day! Cheers to a new year!

THANK YOU!!
I watch Big Brother religiously! I’m not sure how this season will work out, but I am here for it!
I think they started late this year due to the writer’s strike – they wanted to fill the fall schedule with unscripted television….(I think)
I thought nether region was all wrong too!
Much love and Happy belated birthday!
Lora
That makes so much sense! I’m nervous about my commitment levels to a three night a week show in the fall, but I’ll do my very best. Or I’ll just have some episodes to catch up on every weekend. And nether region…WHAT?!
Happy belated birthday!
My thoughts on big brother – I was a little grossed out by the term nether regions. I can’t remeber most of their names (and I’m too lazy to look them up lol), but I like the guy with the big red beard, I like the swimmer, I like Felicia (only becuase she’s older than the average houseguest and I feel like there’s never enough HG in that demographic). I’m super irritated that Kirsten pronounces her name incorrectly – HA! I like the bartender chick … those are the only ones i can remeber right now. I think it will be a good season!
I don’t have favorites yet but I’m sure I will soon!! AND WHY NETHER REGIONS?!!
I’m so happy you’re watching (as usual!) “Big Brother”!!! Like you, it takes me a few episodes to really get into it … but so far the only person I kind of don’t care for is that older woman. Totally agree with everything you said (take it easy, Julie!😁) … and I pretty much found the use of ” nether regions” completely unnecessary! I think I read somewhere why they started later, but now I can’t remember – maybe something about anticipating the writer’s strike????
Happy belated birthday! My 40’s were some of my favorite years🙂
Thank you so much, Debbie! WHY did they use nether regions?!!!
Belated Happy Birthday Erica! I don’t watch Big Brother, but laughed at the nether region reference. The first time I used that phrase my husband spit out his coffee, so funny!
