Friday Favorites-5.8.26

Hi Friends! Happy Friday!

Hope you’ve had a great week! Andrea and I are here popping in to share some FAVORITES from our week. I have a doozy of FAVORITES for you. I’m recapping our trip to the Kentucky Derby! This getaway was definitely a FAVORITE…

I’ve gotten some questions just from posting a few pictures on IG so thought I’d answer those here as well.

  1. This was a semi-work trip. It’s another fork lift dealer in Louisville, Kentucky, that invited us along with a crew of about fifty total for an epic Derby weekend.
  2. This was our first time!
  3. This company has invited us before but we’ve never been able to make it happen due to scheduling. But we’re so glad it happened this year.
  4. I got my fascinator and hat both off Etsy. A friend from Louisville told me that was the way to go.

Let me just tell you, we were SPOILED ROTTEN on this trip! We flew in Thursday evening and arrived at the “main house” where the private chef had a gorgeous dinner display out for us. I’d say we knew about half of the people from other work events. {Who knew so much fun could be had in the fork lift industry?! ha!}. We had dinner and then all got driven to our houses. The company had rented five gorgeous homes for the weekend. We were in a house full of other couples we knew which made it even more fun.

Friday morning we were up early and driven back to the “Main House” for breakfast. We all met up there before being driven to the Kentucky Oaks for the day. If you aren’t that “into” the Derby, you might not know {I didn’t either} that the Friday festivities of Oaks are all about the fillies. Everyone’s supposed to have some type of pink in their “look”, the Oaks lily drink is handed out as soon as you arrive, and well, it’s just all about the girls. 😉 Also, I only wore those random jelly flats for the walk into Churchill Downs. I’d been told the walk was a long one so I was prepared.

These are some of the amazing women I’ve become friends with through fork lifts. ha! All of those really cool trips? These ladies are usually there in attendance with me. We’ve become friends and now I know about their families, what they like to do in their free time, etc.

The ENTIRE crew SHOWED UP for this event. Didn’t we?! If you look carefully, you can maybe spy my purple feathers. 😉

Bless our hearts we had no idea what we were in for!

I told you we were spoiled…our big bus drove us to Churchill Downs where we made our way to our suite for the next two days. Our suite opened up to this huge room that had a buffet spread out most of the day as well as a bar. Plus our suite had it’s own bar/bartender.

We ventured out a bit to check out all the sights!

Woodford Reserve, that Kentucky bourbon, had the cutest little photo op. While we were standing in this line, a guy and girl went up to take their pic and THE GUY PROPOSED! Their families were all there, lots of pics were taken. Sweetest proposal!

I’m so thankful he let me dress hin for the day. ha! For those wondering, I got his suit right on Amazon! I knew my fascinator had purple so thought it’d be cute if complimented each other.

This was the paddock where they’d walk the horses around before it was time for their race.

On Friday, it wasn’t crazy crowded.

I mean this group understood the assignment, right?! Our bus picked us up around 6:00 p.m. to be driven back to the house for dinner. Let me tell you….we were EXHAUSTED by the end of the day! ha!

Before we knew it, it was DERBY DAY!! Once again, we got to the main house early for breakfast.

The entire group once again brought their “A” game of attire.

Remember I said we were spoiled rotten? As we were finishing pictures, this guy popped up to do the Derby tune on his trumpet. ha! They thought of every detail!

Ready for Day TWO!

One of our friends called me and asked me to put money down on a certain horse for him. We sent him this picture. Sadly, his horse didn’t win!

After posting a pic on Friday, our neighbors who live DIRECTLY across the street from us texted they were on their way to the Derby! How funny!! Right?!

We met up with them for a bit to catch up before going back to our separate groups.

Our kids are all into different things and they’re different ages. We kept laughing about we haven’t hung out with them in a long time. We had to both travel to Louisville, Kentucky, for that to happen!

I wish I could properly describe the amount of excitement in the air as the Derby race was about to begin. In every direction I looked the entire stands were covered with people standing to watch this one race. Super cool experience and I’m so glad we were able to attend.

Sidenote: The suite next to us was an Amazon suite and it had Bravo girls. I was trying to not fangirl too hard so I didn’t take a picture. BUT it was super cool!

Also, I’m from Missouri so have been to Kentucky many times but on this particular weekend it showed OUT! It was gorgeous and so green! Everyone was so kind and friendly! I absolutely loved my time visiting.

Thanks so much for reading today!

XO
