Football Fashion-Red Kingdom

Guys! We’re already almost into October. I can’t even believe it! While our house remodel seems to be slowly creeping by, the dates on the calendar are flying! How does that happen?

Let me insert just a quick little house update…the island in the kitchen is in and I’m in LOVE! It’s finally now a space where I can really see how everything will go space-wise. I’m not the best at spatial reasoning, but apparently all I needed was a kitchen island. ;). The guys are working hard right now on our master bathroom and well, it is coming together! We’re all seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! WAHOO!

How did your team do this past weekend? Nixon was basically hiding under a blanket watching that OU/K-State game. There’s just something about those Wildcats. His Sooners struggle with them every year! And the Arkansas/A & M game…that poor kicker. I felt for him. I felt for his mom. I even was feeling bad for his grandma. Goodness gracious…my mama heart hurt for him!

Today, we’ve gotta talk about Bowen’s very favorite team {and has been for years}, the Kansas City Chiefs. 🙂

I shared this picture last week and got some questions about Bowen’s costume. I thought it was only fitting for me to give all the costume details in this Chiefs’ post. He had the jersey but really you could get as detailed or un-detailed with this as you like. You could grab a Mahomes’ tee as well. We borrowed some football pads from a neighbor who played tackle {Nixon didn’t at this time}. I did get him a cheap pair of white football pants and then this wig made the costume. If you know Bowen, then you know he tried to talk me into certain football cleats, a distinct pair of gloves, and well the list just goes on and on. ha!

A really cool story about his costume though….Tab had the Chiefs a couple weeks before Halloween and he was chatting with some of the players before the game. He mentioned to Patrick Mahomes that his younger son was actually gonna be him for Halloween. {I should add-after officiating for years in the Big 12, the guys that played college while Tab was officiating, many will remember him, come up and say, “hey”, etc. Mahomes played at Texas Tech so they recognize each other from years ago.}. Anyway, they all laughed and the game was played. Toward the end of the game, Patrick ran over to Tab, handed him his towel, and told him to give it to his son for his costume. Super super cool of him! And Bowen Slaughter’s life was made. He’s a Mahomes fan for LIFE now. Can you blame him?

In honor of those Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes….

Guys, some of the gear I found was so cute I had to stop myself from ordering! I don’t have any plans to head to Arrowhead Stadium anytime soon, but I’m hoping my plans change STAT!

Okay, friends! My posting this week is going to be REAL spotty! Hope to see you back here soon. Please check daily!

Been a Chiefs fan for 30+ years – through the good and the bad and all I have to say about the Colts game is woof. Hopefully this week is better (if the game happens as scheduled). And I’ve never heard one negative thing about Mahomes so that story doesn’t surprise me one bit. Kid is a class act.

There is absolutely nothing like Arrowhead! Tailgating is so strong you can smell the bbq and charcoal briquets from the interstate that runs by the stadium. I hope you get the chance to experience it.

Such a great story about Mahomes, but not surprising. He seems like a great person. We live in the KC area and are big Chiefs fans, and he’s really invested in our community. The fact that the convo with Tab was during warmups and Pat remembered to run over with the towel AFTER the game amid all the people, distractions, media, etc is even more cool.
