5 Last Minute Things to Make Your Halloween Week More Festive…

Happy, Happy HALLOWEEN Week, Friends!

I said it last week and I’ll say it again. Texas feels a little magical to me right now. The weather is absolutely AMAZING {a big group of kids are playing on my street right now as I type!}, the trees are all looking gorgeous, front yards are decorated for fall/Halloween, and things are getting more cozy! I’m EXCITED…can you tell?! 😉

Let’s talk about me for a second. My inner-Erika can be a GRADE “A” Procrastinator! I have to work at it to not go this route…

ANYONE else?? BAHAHAHAHA!

Sometimes holidays sneak right up on me and I’m scrambling at the last minute. I thought there might be a few of you who are feeling that way right now reading. If that’s you, don’t panic! I have a few last minute things you can do to make this week feel festive {EVEN IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE A THING YET!}.

#1 MAKE A FESTIVE DINNER-Last year, I think I did an entire week of Halloween-inspired meals. This year we have a busy week so I’m making two festive meals….

We’re having Shay’s Ghoul-Ash for dinner on Halloween night and earlier in the week we’re having a Chicken Pot Pie Soup with Mummy Dogs. Make something festive that’s EASY that you know your kids will eat! For years I popped into Papa Murphy’s for a Jack-o-Lantern pizza on Halloween. The kids loved it and I loved an easy dinner on such a busy night.

#2 CARVE PUMPKINS-If I don’t put this night on our calendar, it sneaks up and we miss it! My three older kids act like they don’t enjoy this but let me tell you a little secret, they do! Instead of watching Spookley the Square Pumpkin these days, we’ll watch something more age-appropriate {that won’t give Britt nightmares}. We love a friendly competition so we often have a small prize for the winner of the pumpkin decorating. Other than pumpkins and some tools, you really don’t need to prepare much to do this activity this week! Helpful tip…I ordered five pumpkins from Walmart with my grocery delivery and they were delivered right to my house! EASY PEASY!

#3 FESTIVE PLATES & SNACKS-Procrastinators, this one is REALLY easy! Hop onto Walmart and order some festive paper plates for your special day! You can also add some special Halloween treats to their lunches…

Again, these festive snacks are easily added to any grocery order for your week!

#4 PLAY THOSE HALLOWEEN MOVIES-If you have a busy week, it doesn’t have to be an official family movie where everyone’s watching all together. You can just have Halloween movies playing while the after school chaos is happening, while you’re making dinner, or while everyone’s chilling for a bit before bed. You might not have tons of time this week for a movie night {our family doesn’t} but I’ll have festive things on tv all week to make it extra festive.

#5 WAKE THEM UP WITH A SOUNDTRACK-I’ve been doing this since they were little. Halloween morning calls for Thriller, Monster Mash, Ghostbusters and more! I just have it playing in the background as they get ready for school. Some kids will be annoyed because they’d prefer quiet in the morning while others will be dancing their way out the door. Either way, it’s FESTIVE!

Procrastinator Friends, As you can see these are EASY things you can do to make your week a little more festive! Some of these my kids will roll their eyes at now, but one day they’ll look back and realize we did all we could to make these days festive! Happy HALLOWEEN WEEK!
