What’s Saving My Life Right Now

Are you guys FEELING May-Cember too?!

It’s end of season ceremonies, Teacher Appreciation Week, Field Day, field trips, final exams, playoff baseball, make-up softball games, and so much more! I recently listened to the latest Lazy Genius Podcast episode where Kendra detailed ten things saving her life right now during this busy season of May-Cember. It got me thinking…what’s saving MY life right now?!

In no particular order, here are the things saving my life right now…

*Cozi App-For some reason a few years ago, I thought if all three big kids had braces at the same time it would make my life easier getting them to appointments. Well, I didn’t think that through because right this minute they’re all three at different schools, they all need appointments at different moments, and the last thing I want to do in the busy May-Cember time is take a kid to the orthodontist BUT for some reason they’ve all three had to go often lately. Thanks to the Cozi App, I’m remembering each and every one. I write EVERYTHING in my app because it’s ALWAYS with me. If I have to call a client, it’s in there. If a kid has an appointment, it’s in there. If Tab’s got an out of town trip, it’s in there. There are SO many things happening right now and I’m only remembering things thanks to my Cozi.

*Grocery Delivery-In a perfect world with lots of free time, I’d stroll the aisles of a grocery store to find new things or foods to make BUT that’s not how my life is right now. I’d be LOST without grocery delivery! I can order groceries sitting at the ballfield to be delivered. How cool is that?! Just this weekend, I placed my order while Bowen’s team was in between games for Monday morning. Who got to have tacos on Cinco de Mayo thanks to grocery delivery? The Slaughters!

*Slow Down-Right now EVERYTHING is so fast paced. I’ve had a couple lunch dates and a coffee date with friends recently. My typical “friend meet up” is a walk so I can kill two birds with one stone…walk + catch up with a friend. But, I’m realizing that right now my body needs a little chill. It’s okay to take a bit of time to SLOW DOWN! It literally SAVED ME earlier this week.

*Bible Study/Prayer Time-This is another time in my day where I’m slowing down and taking time to dig into a Bible Study plus spend good quality time in prayer. I recently started this study, Anointed Transformed Redeemed, on the recommendation from a friend. It’s out of print but man, is it good!

*Spotify Playlist-Friends, it’s 2025 and I JUST realized how to make my own playlist. For me the warmer weather + country music go hand in hand. I’ve been listening to a new country playlist I created while I work around the house, while I workout, while I walk, etc. My kids would be so embarrassed to read that I JUST learned how to create a playlist. haha!

*Supergoop Glow Screen-This sunscreen is a tinted primer + sunscreen all in one. I wash my face every morning, add moisturizer + this sunscreen no matter what I’m doing. I either then add foundation or I go about my day. Either way this gives a little tint with the perfect glow to my skin. I use the “Golden Hour” shade.

*NEW DRIVER in the house-Ebby Lee is SAVING my life by helping me with drop-offs and pick-ups! Just this past weekend, Tab and I were with Bowen for his baseball tournament about 50 minutes from our house. Nixon had to meet some friends from school to work on a project and she drove him right over, waited on him and brought him home. SAVING my life, I tell you!

*Videoing from my cell phone-I’ve used my phone to video “big things” over the last week about three times…honor ceremony, pep rally performance, champsionship baseball game, etc. Every time I thought about my parents. I couldn’t find the exact video recording system we had when I was growing up, but I do remember it being two parts. One part they slung over their shoulder and the other part was the recorder. Can you imagine if we had to add this type of thing to the rest of our May-Cember?!

*Ransom Canyon-A friend recently told me to watch and she described it as Yellowstone meets Virgin River. On Monday evening, I was weirdly home alone for a bit and I found myself folding laundry to this show. I was so zoned out I didn’t even realize I was folding laundry! ha!

*Sunless Tanner-These legs NEED the saving! And this Walmart tanner came in clutch this week!

And THAT’S what’s saving my life right now. What about YOU?!

XO

Alison, FOR SURE! I’m liking the show! It’s cute but not near as aggressive as Yellowstone!

I’m dying at the video camera throwback. My dad had two different ones during the early years. I think the first one was like the one you pictured where he threw the one piece over his shoulder which is HYSTERICAL. I think the next step up a couple of years down the road was a video camera that was just one piece…. BUT IT WAS HUGE! Like it looked like he was filming for a major motion picture! Yes, suuuuuuuuuper thankful for our phones. We’ve come a long way, baby! 🙂

We sure HAVE! I’d NEVER remember to pack all the pieces to a video camera like that!

Thanks, Pamela! I will tell you-I LOVE the study! But the videos are only on DVD. A friend purchased those {pre-owned} and I’m watching them with her.
