Weekend Recap -Vegas!

What a WEEKEND we had! All the Slaughter kids were on some kind of Fall Break {between two districts the dates off overlapped just a bit}. We kicked off the fun with a Friday Night football game to watch the Lovejoy Leopards play in The Star.

We met the Shulls for dinner before the game and look who we bumped into!

He’s smiling in this picture so that might help?!

Here’s a BIG clue….

Do you recognize that Dillon Panther Booster Club President?

BUDDY GARRITY, from the Friday Night Lights series! It was extra special because it was a Friday Night encounter and then he was headed to watch the football game too.

These girls thought getting to meet the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders at the stadium was so fun!

Saturday morning Tab flew to Vegas for pre-game meetings with the crew. I watched Bowen’s tackle football game and then flew out later that evening. When I arrived, I was laughing because often times this sign can get me….

I know math just fine but when there are people behind me and I have to quickly move one way or another, I can get panicked! Kind of like what button do you push on your cell phone when you’re already on a phone call? SAME FEELING!

Tab and I skipped dinner out with the crew that evening in lieu of dinner at the hotel, football games, and early bedtimes.

Saturday morning I had LOTS of time to myself. I decided a little workout would be the perfect way to spend my morning.

Before getting GAME DAY ready to watch the Raiders and Steelers in Allegiant Stadium! My look for the game was this short sleeve sweatshirt, cropped jeans {run very true to size}, and a black/white stadium crossbody.

I ubered myself right over to the stadium!

And found my seat with about 30 minutes to spare…this stadium was LOUD!!

I scanned the field and look who I spotted…#110!

I told Tab that I enjoyed the game but was pretty chill watching it. Then the announcer said, “Our halftime entertainment is Flo Rida”, and I was UP out of my seat! hahaha! He was performing on the other end of my row! I couldn’t help myself.

See! He sang all his most popular songs!

With a little guest appearance by Flavor Flav. 🙂

Since I was solo and didn’t want to get stuck in the middle of a giant crowd as I sweat to death, I left a bit early and was able to watch the end of the game in my cool hotel room.

Then it was actually the MAIN EVENT of my trip {the REAL reason I tagged along to Vegas}. We had tickets to see GARTH BROOKS that evening!

We had a delicious and fancy dinner before we were in line to see Garth! We’d heard our phones would be all locked up so we snapped a quick selfie while we had the chance.

AND THE SHOW WAS INCREDIBLE! IT WAS THE PERFECT 90’S COUNTRY MUSIC SING-A-LONG I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW I NEEDED! SO SO GOOD! It’s crazy how I can forget the reason I walk into a room but I can remember EVERY SINGLE LYRIC to a Garth Brooks song I haven’t heard in twenty years! He sang some of my FAVORITES! {I’m looking at you, Callin’ Baton Rouge!}. He even sang a few cover songs like Against the Wind and his plus one, Mrs. Trisha Yearwood came out to join him for a few as well. I also loved it was in a small venue because it felt very personable. THE PERFECT CONCERT!

I was bummed I forgot to take a picture of my outfit because I threw it together at the last minute and got a lot of sweet compliments. This top from Amazon {I sized up because it’s a tight-fitting stretchy fabric}, skirt{on SALE}, and boots came together for Garth perfectly!

It was at this moment as we closed the door to our hotel room that I mentioned we’d forgotten to take a picture together. Hotel door as the backdrop…fail!

Take #2 with views of Vegas in the background and off to bed because we were up WAY past our bedtime!

Vegas, you were a fun little getaway amidst the busy days we’re living! Hope you guys had a great weekend as well!

XO

What a fun getaway! I would love to see Garth in a small venue. I love his music even though I don’t care for him that much these days. I can definitely recite all his early songs. You and Tab look great!

I cracked up at your comment about forgetting why you came into a room but yet you know the lyrics to a song drom 20 years. 😂😂 I can relate to that all too well.

First things first. BUDDY GARRITY!!!! How cool! My fam would have died if we had seen him. And what a fun trip! I LOVE your concert outfit, and listen, my heart is in a constant state of wanting a 90s country sing-a-long.

Listen, it’s legit like the worst photo ever inside that restaurant with Buddy, but geez, he was a riot. I LOVE your Vegas pics though!!

It was TERRIBLE lighting but it’s not everyday you get to stand beside the Dillon Panthers Booster Club President!

My sister and I went to see Garth 2 weeks ago too! ! I had to twist her arm to go, but she agreed, it was fantastic!
I love your clothing style! I struggle with having a 14 year old daughter/wanting to dress trendy, but not embarrassing. I work at her school so she likes to approve/disapprove my outfits before we leave;-)

Becky, I feel you! SAME! I want her to barely think my outfit’s cute so it doesn’t look like something she’d wear but also isn’t embarrassed of me. hahaha!

What a fun weekend! A couple of years ago a friend and I were able to see Garth at Notre Dame Stadium! It was cold and snowy but we were toasty warm dancing and singing! It really is amazing how many 90s country lyrics I can remember! LOL More nostalgia this coming April as Brooks & Dunn are coming to my town on my birthday! 😉

We saw Garth several years ago in San Antonio and it was probably the BEST concert I have ever seen. He played for a solid 3 hours and never stopped! He has so much energy!
I might need to make a trip to Vegas to see him!

YES Jenny! I told Tab I had to go to the bathroom but kept waiting for intermission! I ALMOST had an accident because there wasn’t an intermission!
