Tuesday Talk-We’re Chatting 2020

Hey Hey!

It’s time for TUESDAY TALK!

On the third Tuesday of every month, Fancy Ashley and I team up for Tuesday Talk.  We invite you to join us.  It’s a time to chit chat about anything and everything.

Today, let’s talk 2020!  You know why I like the New Year?  It’s a blank slate that allows me to ditch any old bad habits and really start afresh.  I’m not one for making big New Year’s resolutions but I do tend to take a look back at the previous year and work on stepping up my “A” game.  What can I do better?  How can I make more of an impact?  Those types of questions drive a little mental checklist of new habits I hope to make for 2020.

Here are some things on my list…
*Less downtime
*Drink more water
*MOVE more
*More intentional but simple family things {I’m thinking game nights, movie nights, etc.}
*Give more grace
*Keep closets more organized

And I’m sure I could add fifty more things to my list, but I won’t bore you with all those.

I saw this quote on Pinterest and loved it!  I just want to send a little reminder to us all to be encouraged to work hard for those new goals we’ve set for 2020.  Maybe your goal is to finish your degree this year?  Maybe you’re saving this year as much as possible to go on a killer vacation in 2021?  Maybe you have a goal of reading through the entire Bible this year?  Maybe your goal is to read to your kids every night?  Whatever your goal, friends, here’s a little encouragement today.

What goal do you have for 2020?  It can be big or small, but we’d love to hear something you’re working on this year.  Please know I’m cheering you on!

    Love your list but can you tell us more about "less downtime" and what that means for you/your family? I'm actually the complete opposite. We are so busy with our careers, our kids are involved in so many activities– I'm trying to schedule more downtime! haha It doesn't mean we aren't going to be involved but I'm certainly being more picky about what that involvement looks like.

    Great question! I probably should have worded it differently…I meant more less wasted down time! Meaning if everyone is chilling/doing their own thing I can work or be productive versus cruise Instagram. Now if the family is spending time together, I'll be in the middle of the mix. Does that make sense? I'm so glad you asked! I feel you with all the things outside of the home. We need downtime for sure! I just need to waste less time. 🙂

    I’m curious what you mean by “less downtime”? Most folks are trying to create more downtime, and I find myself somewhere in the middle. I might be looking at less downtime too, so I’m wondering what you mean by it and if it’s the same as myself.

    I feel like I am getting a slow start to 2020! I haven't had a "normal" week and so I'm slacking on getting back in the game on all my routines and good habits. MUST TRY HARDER! My word for the year is "release." I am already putting that into practice and I feel so much lighter. Good luck on your goals and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Great posts and loving your goals! Drinking more water is definitely on my list of goals as well! And I'm also hoping for earlier bedtimes for myself because I'm working on becoming a morning person. It's not easy though!!

    Thanks for clarifying your “less downtime” goal! I’m right there with you on this one…I feel like I waste a lot of time cruising insta/FB/etc that are doing nothing towards actually reaching coals that I have set for the day or even longer term goals. I feel like writing my goals down for the day, actually helps me stay on track to utilize my time more wisely. Have you ever heard of Macy McNeely’s daily deposit journal? If not, you should check it out!

    I remember last year you said your goal was to be the kind of person that shows up. How's that one going? I had the same goal last year and did feel like it was a good reminder throughout the year!

    Hey Erika! That absolutely makes sense AND I can completely relate! I love that you're making a point to be more intentional about putting down the phone/computer/whatever to be more in the moment with your family. It's definitely something I need to be more cognizant of. Thanks for clarifying!
