Hey There, Friends!
Thank you again for all the sweet messages, comments, texts, calls, e-mails and more about Britty. Our weekend was spent blending anything we could possibly liquify, watching Frozen and Olaf’s Summer Adventure on Disney Plus on REPEAT {you know it’s been on way too long when everyone in the house can pretty much choose a part and reenact an entire movie}, and taking turns eating real food. We’ve been spelling ALL THE THINGS, “Your turn to E-A-T”. But today is ONE WEEK and I’m so thankful we have an entire week behind us.
I’m bringing you another Rose Bowl Trip recap and am apparently doing my best to showcase this trip until 2021. 😉 We’re picking up where we left off…December 31st.
On New Year’s Eve, the Slaughter Six had tickets to tour Dodgers Stadium.
Stamps are on and we’re tour ready.
My grandpa has always been a Dodgers fan, but other than that connection-I had no ties to the Los Angeles Dodgers. That is until this tour…
The weather could NOT have been more perfect. The setting at the stadium was gorgeous. And our tour guide could not have been better. I left there telling Tab that starting now I was a Dodgers fan. Who knew I’d get sucked into all the Dodger history?
And let’s be real-if they’d have been selling Dodger Dogs during this tour, that would have helped too.
This guy in blue. If you show up for a tour and he’s not the one doing it, leave and go back another day. He was phenomenal and had so much energy we all left ready for baseball season!
Another stadium tour, another press box.
My, oh my this girl is cute!
We checked out the field and dugout.
This one with a sassy little pose.
#always
In the seat pictured above is where Magic Johnson likes to sit and watch his team.
A little known fact…I wrote a research paper on Jackie Robinson in high school so I might have schooled Nixon in all the #42 facts.
Seriously…such a great tour! We recommend it if you have sports fans with you in LA!
Then it was back to the resort to drop off Tab. This was the gingerbread version of our resort.
The kiddos and I ubered back to the L.A. Live area for lunch at Yard House. Why have a chain lunch on vacation? Two reasons…1. There were lots of games on Nixon was politely asking to see and Yard House delivers on the screens. 2. I’ve only eaten at Yard House {ironically} in Hawaii so this chain holds a little nostalgia for me.
Our side of the table. 🙂
The main reason we were there…the chips and queso were reasons #3 and #4.
Meanwhile, Tab and Brandon {the referee you might have seen on tv} were meeting with the Grand Marshals of the Rose Bowl parade and all the others who were set to be a part of the coin toss. Did you know they practiced that big moment before performing? Ebby Lee had remembered watching Laurie Hernandez in the Olympics and had been talking about seeing her at the parade. Little did we know, Tab was taking a selfie while we were lunching.
Then to run off a little steam, I took the kids to Nerf Challenge. Tab and his crew had an afternoon full of meetings to prepare for the big game! The way I understand Nerf Challenge-it was a traveling exhibit that began it’s tour in L.A. There were obstacle courses and lots of games we played Nerf-style to keep us entertained for several hours.
I tried to find the locations but it looks like Nerf is having fans vote on where to go next so the cities haven’t been listed quite yet. In case it’s in your area I have a few tips…
*Britt was the absolute youngest I’d recommend. She and I both participated but there were moments when I was shooting my gun, throwing my purse over my shoulder, and holding Britt. Don’t recommend that.
*One of the employees told me if I bought us all general admission tickets and upgraded just one to the “Fast Pass” version then we’d all have access. I don’t fully understand how that makes sense for them, but it worked! It saved us a lot of wait time and money!
*I wasn’t expecting to have as much fun with this as I did! It was great for ages four, all the way up!
Waiting in line for our first capture the flag game.
We were all on the same team and that cutie on the right captured the other team’s flag resulting in a WIN for us! Anytime someone would get close to me, I’d SCREAM which is the exact opposite of what I’m supposed to be doing. It was a blast!
I don’t think Ebby Lee was expecting to have as much fun as she did either.
Imagine this…me loading my gun, cocking, and trying to shoot while Britt is handing me her gun to cock so she can shoot. Basically, we were easy targets.
There were several of those types of activities…where they broke us up into two teams and it was like last man standing or a capture the flag thing.
Outside housed other activities…throwing football arrows.
This might have been my FAVORITE…human foosball. Girls against boys and we TIED! Please note-I was SWEATING when our time was up.
Nixon was ignoring me because I kept winning and he wasn’t happy about it!
Basically, I’d recommend the Nerf Challenge if it’s in your area as well!
On New Year’s Eve, we wear sequins. Well, errr…at least the girls do.
We walked to a nice, casual early dinner.
We party hard on NYE. Can you tell?
And we ended our 2019 just a bit early because the next day my alarm was going off at 4:30 a.m.!!!
If you’ve missed any recaps, you can read them here…
Part One, Part Two, or Part Three
On the blog tomorrow, it’s our first Tuesday Talk of the year! Blogger friends, I hope you join us!
Hope your week is off to a great start!
XO
1: I want EL's sweater in my size!! 2: Britty's facial expressions at the tour were too cute! 3: I would be scared to death to battle Nixon in any kind of Nerf war. I would just hand him my Nerf gun and surrender. Ha!
Looks like a really fun day! I love how you gear your vacations to be kid oriented, they look like they had a great time.
Such a fun trip and great pictures! The gingerbread resort is so cute and the details are impressive! I've not heard of human foosball, looks like lots of fun for sure!
Ellibelle's Corner
Ok, the Nall boys would absolutely love all of this. So much fun!! And Britty and those upside down goggles are cracking me up. (Also, your hair looks fab in all of these pics… 😉)
That Inspired Chick
I am thoroughly enjoying your recaps! I hope Britty's healing is going well.
That Nerf Challenge does sound fun!
Dodger Stadium is the happiest place on earth in my book. Their tour is awesome. GO BLUE!
How fun! Love that Tab met Laurie Hernandez – so awesome! The nerf challenge does sound fun! Sequins for the win!
