Hey Hey Hey!
I’m coming to you today from super snowy, freezing cold temperatures, and with/without power due to those rolling power outages here in North Texas. Due to that, I’m not sure how this space will look the rest of the week. Hopefully, I’ll be here every day but I can’t promise anything. This morning {worked on this Monday} my internet was going in and out every few minutes, but for now-it’s all working!
I’m teaming up with Fancy Ashley {who is also having her own set of power outages, so bear with us} for Tuesday Talk! Once a month we team up to chit chat about anything and everything! We invite you to join us!
I wanna talk to you about being grateful and when I say that please know I’m one hundred percent speaking to myself here!
A hometown friend who lost her husband to cancer last year shared this on her FB feed yesterday and it really spoke to me…
“5 years ago today we had a snow storm and our lives changed that day forever. Our lives got a whole lot uglier than that scary night in Nashville but we made it. All the way till death do us part, we made it. And I’m making good on my promise to never let the kids forget their daddy. Even when it’s hard.
I challenge those who read this today, while you are stuck inside from this snow storm to write down a gratitude list. Things you are grateful for because you never know what tomorrow holds.
At one point during our hospital stay in Nashville I asked God for wisdom, for a picture of what was in store for us and the response from the holy spirit was “if I told you what was coming, you wouldn’t do what’s needed, just trust me”.
Five years later we are still trusting, blindly, but we were, we are, and we will always be “all in” for whatever God requires. Even when it’s hard.
Today I’m grateful for two beautiful children, my workers and their families, my friends and family who kept me alive after the funeral, the folks who have loved my children like their own, a warm house and food in our pantry on this winter freezing day, and most of all for God’s unflinching everlasting unconditional love on our most undeserving days.”
I haven’t seen her in years but have watched her story play out via social media and she’s been the most courageous wife and mother over the last few years. Such a sweet reminder we all have so much to be grateful for no matter the circumstances.
As I read her FB post, I’m pretty sure I was annoyed the power was in/out as well as the internet so every project I started working on got stopped mid-way through. Her words immediately stopped me in my tracks. Told you I was talking to myself here, but thought it might speak to you as well.
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18
Today, I’m grateful for a house giving us lots of protection from these cold temperatures, the five faces who are tackling this adventure alongside me, a family who prayed for me even before I was born, a boring testimony, friends who are keeping me laughing even from their own homes, neighbors who are taking turns providing entertainment, books, games, art supplies, plenty of food in our refrigerator, this snow that brought a little excitement into our lives this week, and a Savior who loves us so much He meets us right where we are.
Hoping you can find lots to be grateful for on this Tuesday as well. Like I said, hopefully I’ll be back every day this week but this internet of mine is super spotty. Stay safe and stay warm, friends!
XO
Beautiful words and definitely a powerful reminder! Thank you for sharing!

So powerful. The verse you shared was my verse last year. Praying for you all as you are without power. I’m from Georgia so we aren’t equipped for snow/ice either…
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this post today! I am so incredibly blessed, and I need reminders like this when things don't go the way I want them to go, or when I'm having a not so good day.
Praying for all of those who are in homes with no power and are trying to stay warm.
such a great reminder. We all can be guilty at times of not being grateful enough. Thanks so much for sharing.
A wonderful reminder. Love you, friend. xoxo
One of your best blog posts EVER. This is such a great reminder. "A boring testimony" wow… you nailed this one!
So very good! Thank you for sharing and I am.so.glad I popped over to catch up on your blog so that I saw this.
