Hey There, Friends!
We’re BACK! Tab and I had a busy/fun/relaxing/amazing week! We went from Orlando, Florida, where he had a NFL official’s conference {and spouses were encouraged to come} to our connecting flight in Miami where we met up with the Shulls only to get to our final leg of the trip, a few days in Turks & Caicos to celebrate my 40th Birthday. {Yes, a few months early but August is REALLY busy.}. Huge shout out to my mom for holding down the fort!
I promise to share more details from the trip next week! I had scheduled an Allure Best of Beauty Award post and I’ve been using this product for almost two months. I actually really liked it BUT when I was working on the post I started reading some fine print and realized I’d been using it ALL wrong! I decided I need to scrap it! I don’t wanna tell you how great something was if I’m using it all wrong! BLOGGER FAIL! I’ve got a few more products already in my cart so I’ll get to those STAT!

#1 This is what we’re gonna call, PIVOTING! hahaha! I’m gonna share what a day after a trip looks like. I’ll be going right back into all the typical duties and I’ll invite you to join me! You can follow along right on my IG today.
#2 This isn’t rocket science here {not like you come to this space to get a dose of that BUT you might very well already do this or not but I’m sharing what I do}. I thought it might be helpful to share what I do on a return flight. You know after a trip where you’re without kids and then WHAM you’re right back into mom life? The return flight helps me attempt to ease into that normal life by a few things…
Thanks to the AMAZING modern technology with wi-fi on planes what I ALWAYS do on any flight home {heading back to the real world} is order groceries online that will either arrive on my doorstep {thank you Walmart} and/or my local grocery store where I’ll schedule a grocery pick-up for the next day. Having a game plan for our meals, snacks, breakfasts, lunches, etc. ALWAYS makes me jumping right back into all the things just a little easier. It’s almost like my typical Sunday routine but I might be diving into it on a Wednesday or some other random day. This seriously helps me a TON! I look over our schedule just like I do when I’m making our meal plan on a Sunday. And I’m often reminded-Oh! Bowen has this practice or we have this event. When you’ve been off duty, it’s a good idea to take a look at all the things. Then I go through all my e-mails and try to get as ready for the next work day as possible. On any trip I’m checking my emails but I can really caught up on a flight and have my to-do list ready for the following work day.
Again, I know none of that was rocket science BUT those three hours {or however long you have} doing that on my flight home always helps me! Just something for you to consider your next trip!
#3 One Million Arrows: Raising Your Children to Change the World

I probably shared this book YEARS ago. Amazon told me I purchased it way back in 2013. When we were in Orlando I was talking to this absolutely adorable mom who was referencing a book she’d really learned and taken so much from. I ordered the book and will share after I read BUT it got me thinking about how when our kids are little we’re diving deep into all kinds of books on how to raise them. Or at least I did. I read books on raising boys, books on raising girls, books on disciple, books on how to pray for them and the list goes on and on and on. Now that they’re older and are hitting the teenage years, I haven’t read as many of those books so I’m challenging myself to do that. I also really tried to think about books that changed me after I read them. Books that I found myself quoting to others when we were talking parenthood or kids and I came back to this one. A friend told me to read One Million Arrows years ago and you guys it changed me. The premise of the entire book is are we going to allow the world to change our kids or are we going to teach them how to change the world.
You might have read it back in 2013 when I shared then but if you haven’t, I encourage you to read it now. And on that note, do you have a teen parenting book that you loved? I’d love to add some of those to my nightstand! Please share!
The MOST random post of all posts! But now I’m off to share my day with you! I hope you follow along. See you back here tomorrow for Friday Faves!
XO

Not sure if you’ve read “Wild Things” but it’s a book about raising boys from ages 2-25 or so! Written by Christian counselors. I read it once and made a note to myself to re-read every few years as it breaks down chapters by kids’ ages!
I need to read it, Laura! Thanks for the rec!
The Mama Bear Apologetics book I loved so much I bought in paperback. I’d never heard of Wild Things, I’m ordering it. Great post! I’ll be referencing back, thanks!
Thanks for sharing, Christin! Do you recommend it for younger kids or for parents of any ages?
Good luck getting back into the swing of things!

Welcome back! Excited to follow along!!! xoxo
What discipline book would you recommend for toddlers?
I loved Sally Clarkson’s book-The Mission of Motherhood and Wild at Heart by John Eldredge were both my faves. {My more discipline challenging kid was a boy so Wild at Heart was good for me.}
Have you read “Raising grateful kids in an entitled world” – good for any ages! And convicting for me as well!
And
“Raising emotionally strong boys” – by David Thomas (same person as “Wild Things”)
Also “Raising Worry free girls” by sissy Goff
