Potty Talk

WAHOO!!

Friends, I’m not trying to toot my own horn here but I think it’s safe to say Britt is POTTY TRAINED!  Granted, it took us not one but two big attempts and she’s way over three-years-old but we got there.  Who thought the last week of school would be the best week to solidify that “potty training status”?  Please know I’m sending myself an eye roll for that.  Needless to say, WE MADE IT!

This was pretty much me this time around. 🙂

Just wanted to send a little potty training encouragement to anyone else in the trenches of potty training!  You’ve got this, Mamas!

A few things that worked for us this time around…{I know that every kiddos different but maybe something will work for your too.}

*Our first big attempt I read that Oh Crap Potty Training and while it was super helpful I got nervous {and probably a little stressed-who am I kidding?} anytime something had to differ from what the book suggested.  That laid back potty training vibe just wasn’t there thanks to ME!

*Both times we used the “commando” method at home for several days and that WORKED!  Why’d no one tell me about this with my other kids?

*My attitude this time was way more laid back.

*We have a little potty set up in the bathroom.  Britt is so tiny that she can’t get on the big potty all by herself but she can potty in the little potty all by herself.  And-she is proud of herself when she takes care of business solo!

*We didn’t do candy or anything like that either time but we did celebrate BIG!  Lots of dancing in the bathroom.  🙂

Happy Potty Training Vibes, Fellow Mamas!
XO

    Hooray you Brit (and you!)! Potty training was kind of the worst in our house—I just wasn't very good at teaching it & my boys especially took for.e.ver. Maybe bribing them with a Corvette would've sped things up!;)

    Yup, naked potty training is the key but in full honesty my girls basically potty trained themselves. We did it super early, less then 18 months. But… basically they started by themselves and I just devoted a few days and it was done.

    Both of my kids weren't fully potty trained until they were three. I figured they wouldn't go to kindergarten in diapers. I hate all the pressure moms feel to potty train them so early. My mom was the worst and I finally had to say I'm their mom and I know what's best so please back off…LOL. Congrats to your sweet girl and to you! 🙂

    Yay Britty!! And when you said she couldn't use the big potty by herself I had a sudden image of that tiny girl falling butt-first into the bowl with her little legs sticking out. haha. So glad you can cross that off your list now, Mama!

    My kiddo is four abs we started in Feb. He does have some delays and I was just nervous to start. While he still uses the little potty, he is a happy dude. No longer scared of pooping and getting so independent. I also read that book and being commando really helps. We are only using a diaper at bedtime so I would love any nighttime tips. My dude is also nervous about public bathrooms so our little potty gets used constantly when out and about. Goal this summer is to try and get him on the big potty at home. It’s a process but usually potty training is harder on the parents than the kids
