EEK!!! It’s here! This is absolutely my favorite day of the month in blog world! haha! I love getting to share these honest, crazy moments with friends, other bloggers, and readers!
Today, one of my besties, Narci, is here Owning It!! Narci and I met about three years ago when we both signed up to teach preschool at our church/the kiddos’ school. We started meeting up for play dates and totally hit it off! Since then she’s become one of my closest friends!! She’s always funny, but girls today…she did NOT disappoint! I started reading her crazy and was laughing out loud! Hope you girls enjoy!! Here’s Narci claiming her crazy…
Look how cute she is!!
Hi, it’s Narci over at Grace & Love Blog and Narci D Photography! I am a mama to 3 precious babies, obsessed with SEC football, and a Dallas-area photographer. I was so excited when Erika asked me to own it and claim my crazy! Mostly because I love Erika like family….but also because cataloging my crazy for this post came super easy to me. I’d like to think it’s because I am a little quirky in a charming, Southern/Texan way…but you can go ahead and make your own judgement after I lay it all out there! 😉
1. That time I drew my kindergartener map on the first day of school
When our oldest, Jackson, started Kindergarten, his baby brother was only two months old. Can you imagine a better crazy-cocktail than sending your first-born to Kindergarten and being hormonal and sleep-deprived? Anyhow, of all the things on the planet, I was super concerned that he would get lost on his way back from the bathroom, and he’d end up outside the school and walking down a major thoroughfare. So y’all, because I was thinking CLEARLY and LOGICALLY, I drew him a very detailed map of how to get back to his classroom from the bathroom. Really. Like on a blank sheet of copier paper, I used my ruler and colored pencils…and drew him a map to use the potty.
Oh, Lord have mercy.
Aren’t we all surprised that my sweet boy turned out to be so well adjusted? Also, aren’t we surprised that his kinder teacher didn’t put “crazy mother” on his permanent file?
You should know that when our 2nd son, Luke, went to Kindergarten this year, I handed him a pop-tart in the car and said something to the effect of, “Luke, son, I love you. Now go and be a man and figure out where your class is, because your sister just unbuckled herself and is hanging from the handlebars in the 3rd row.” And, just like that…I slowed to a roll, gave him a gentle nudge out the door, and went to breakfast with my girlfriends.
Narci told me this story when Ebby Lee started kindergarten to make me feel better. I think with my emotional state of sending my girl to school I didn’t realize how funny that story really was!! I am not missing out this time! Girls…she drew him a MAP!! hahahaha!
2. I don’t like surprises
I just don’t. I prefer the anticipation of knowing what is to come…which brings me to my next point….
3. I read the end of every book first
I know I lost a bunch of y’all here, but I am just keeping it real! Girls, I will read the first few chapters, and then usually I am just ANNOYED with the plot until I skip ahead to see how it ends. Once I know that Annie DOES pick her true love instead of the high-powered banker, then I can sit back and enjoy the book.
How have we been friends for years and you have NEVER mentioned this??
4. I am crazy scared of tall Highway overpasses and bridges over bodies of water. I have 3 windshield emergency hammers in my car for the off chance that we fly off the road into Lake Lavon the next time we cross it. Y’all laugh because you know it’s crazy, but I am getting myself and all 3 kids out of that car if something like that happens! haha!
Okay, I seriously was laughing out loud on this one!! That is so funny and I’m so glad you admitted it!
5. I have an obsession with being in a viral Youtube video.
I am not particular–I’d be down with one of those lip-syncing Taylor Swift videos or singing with Jimmy Fallon. #Jimmycallme
Also, speaking of videos….
6. I made a video once in college…
During my senior year in college, I decided to try out for Survivor. Right now, my college girlfriends are dying because they KNOW where I am going with this story! Anyhow, I decided that it would be a fun project to make and enter a video for the show! So, we borrowed a video camera from my boss (Thank you, Dr. Reithel!!) and video taped me around the Ole Miss campus. We did lots of super cute things like make up funny dialogue, visit the sorority houses, and video taping me “working out “, etc…However, at some point, we decided that me eating an earthworm in my bikini would really set my entry apart. So, I did. Survivor never did call me BTW.
7. Thug Rap Music is my fave.
When I am in the car with the kids, we listen to Christian radio with a little top 40 mixed in for good measure. However, when I am driving by myself, I am just a regular thug and listen to Eminem and Lil’Wayne. 😉 My favorite thing ever is to pick up my middle schooler with this music playing and dancing hip-hop style as we pull away. It mortifies him, but we always laugh so hard afterwards! IF you have to go through the awkward years of middle school, you might as well laugh a little along the way, right? 😉
Thanks again, Erika, for having me! Love you, friend!! XOXO N
Narci, sent me this yesterday and after I read I hopped in the car. I listened to Nelly in her honor! 😉
That was SO much fun!! Narci, thank you SO much for sharing your crazy with us! It did not disappoint!! Make sure you check out Narci’s blog HERE
