Hey There, Friends! It’s WEDNESDAY and time for another edition of Let’s Look with Shay! Each month we highlight a topic and share a little about how we handle it. Today is a fun one! Before we get started, in case you missed our first month of the year…
In January, we chatted about THINGS WE OUTSOURCE WITHOUT REGRET.
Let’s get to it!

I get told often I remind someone of my mom so I’m going to share ways I’ve turned into my mother! Please know I’m saying all this in a kind, light-hearted way. My mom has THE biggest servant’s heart, showed us what it was like to be the hands/feet of Jesus with how she loved others so well, is ALWAYS there to help us anytime we need her, and is such a great example of a mom. She’s truly the best! I have no doubts she’ll read this and crack up at the five, little silly things I’m highlighting. Here we go…

#1 I have her “LOOK”. You know that “look” as a mom where you eye your kids with those big eyes and they’re supposed to know “you better get it together NOW”? My mom had that {and she was EXTRA good at that glare during church} and well, it’s safe to say that I’m a proud owner of “the look” as well.

#2 Calling kids by their wrong name. I’m WAY worse than she ever was at this because she has two kids and I have four. I remember thinking she’s mad at my brother HOW in the world did my name just come out of her mouth?!
Nowadays, I AM HER!

#3 I can’t stay awake during a show or movie if it’s after 7:30 p.m. {give or take about an hour-ha!} I’m not sure when it happened but recently over the last ten-ish years if I try to watch a show or movie, I can’t stay awake. I doze off. My family knows it’s gonna happen so often times I don’t get a vote on what we’re watching. They’ll even call my name to encourage me to keep my eye lids open. Trust me when I say, I got it from my mama. 😉

#4 Every once in a while something slides right out and I think, “That sounds just like my mom!”. It isn’t necessarily one phrase but it’s several plus, I ask a lot of questions. I remember being annoyed when I’d get home and have to answer twenty-one questions but here I am, now playing that same game!

#5 I cry at emotional things!! Something great can happen? I’ll cry. I’m proud of my kids? I’ll cry. Something sad on television? I’ll cry. Emotional song at church? I’ll cry. You get the idea. I used to be as cold as ice but now? I tear up over a lot of things!
Okay, that wraps up my list of exactly how I’m turning into my mother! What about YOU?!! Do you notice things you’re doing or saying that are just like your parents?

Next month we’re talking FAVORITE FAMILY VACATIONS! That should be fun!
See you back here on Friday!
XO

Thank you!!
This is hilarious! I noted a couple of the same ways in being like my Mother. It’s just a tribute to them on how influential they were in our upbringing and currently in our lives. Thanks for hosting!
Absolutely, Alison!
I would say that all of your BEST qualities come straight from your mama. 🙂
Thank you!!
I’m really enjoying the more emotional Erika. 🙂
Oh my goodness!! I need to text you about this immediately!!
This was such a fun topic!! I am right there with you on not starting a movie or show after 7:30 – I’m usually in bed by 7 pm, haha!
