Hey Friday!
I’m ready for you. 🙂
First FAVORITE of the day are these earrings! Aren’t they CUTE?! And perfect for spring and summer! Narci dropped these off as a little “thank you” and I just had to share! Stella and Dot has a ton of new spring items that are screaming at me! If you have any specific questions, Narci can totally help you out with all things Stella and Dot. Just message her directly!
Next up is something I’ve debated all of my mothering days…to give allowance or not to give allowance-that is the question. I snagged these chore charts from Amazon and we’re calling this “Practice Week” in the Slaughter house. I listed things everyone should already be doing but it’s like we’ve forgotten where our shoes belong, where our dirty dishes go, and where we put dirty clothes. So enter these chore charts. Every week I’ll add new chores and eventually those things like “put all your dirty clothes away” will not be something they’re getting rewarded for. The plan is to give allowance for chores completed and if you don’t complete your chores then no I-Pads. We let our kids have their I-Pads on the weekends and the big consequence for now {that will work for all three} is you don’t get to have your I-Pad. I’m also hoping we can make this a bit of a money management lesson as well…the tithing, saving, and money to spend lesson is always easier to live by if you learn it early.

Are you watching The Bachelor? And more importantly-are you reading Sheaffer’s recaps? Sheaffer’s recaps are THE BEST! Colton is down to three girls and it appears like the drama is heating up. You should tune in and check out Sheaffer’s blog on Wednesday for her recap!

I mentioned in my What’s Up Wednesday post that I’d successfully ordered some cute swim suits from both Cupshe and J Crew. I don’t have the guts to post myself in swimsuit pictures but I thought I’d share the ones I really liked…
Fruity One Piece, Stripe One Piece, Floral Two Piece, Navy Two Piece, Gingham Two Piece
I couldn’t get the J Crew pictures to work but those last two listed are CUTE J Crew options.

Another week, another picture of this leopard sweater…at under $19 it’s definitely still a favorite. 🙂 I recommend sizing up one or two sizes.

A sweet reader sent me this earlier this week and YES! It basically sums up my life right now. 🙂 We’ve had a lot of random outings that have included a potty chair in the trunk of my car.

You're the sweetest to post my recaps! Thank you so much! And those suits look CUTE!!!!!!! Great finds!
One more thing, I just got those same Stella and Dot earrings and think they're so cute! #earringtwins
Um, I need those cute Stella & Dot earrings!!!
Your suits are so adorable! Also, I love those earrings. Thank you again for being so amazing! 🙂
When I was growing up, my parents gave my brother and me a small allowance for helping with family chores. Some was expected to go to savings and some to tithing. The allowance was maybe $5/week and then when I was middle school age $10/week with the understanding I had more chores and more responsibilities than the $5 days. My parents always “paid us” on Saturday mornings so we could think about dividing the money for Sunday, savings and the rest of the week. They started by saying we already had the $5/$10, and if we did what we needed to do (chores, helping our teachers, being polite, not have to be asked multiple times to do a task, etc) we got the $. If we didn’t complete the tasks, were rude/sassy, etc just things we shouldn’t be doing, our total went down. It was a real motivator to know my $5/$10 was waiting for me on Saturday and all I had to do was do my chores and be respectful and helpful to others. HAPPY FRIDAY!
Those earrings are adorable. Love them.

I ordered three Cupshe suits to try after you mentioned them. Cross all your fingers that at least one works out!!!
I think the chore chart and paying for chores is a great tool. I used it with my son (He is now 23) and I used it to teach financial lessons too. 2/3 He kept and could spend on whatever he wanted and 1/3 had to go to his saving. He took those lessons with him. He has his first big adult job making good money and he is putting his 1/3 amt and splitting it between a reg savings and hos 401k with maximum employer match. I would also every so often add a bonus chore worth some larger money…say help clean out garage, sweep it and put everything back in, or clean and scrub patio furniture etc…something not routine but required more umpf to get done…taught him not to be hard work to earn bonus money. Good luck…love the gingham bathing suit
I’m curious about the Cupshe brand. Do the suits feel like they’re good quality? They definitely have lots of cute ones!
Were the swimsuits true to size? Thanks!
How are the cupshe swimsuits as far as coverage on your backside? I've ordered a few before and I feel like they are so tiny!
Love the earrings. How cute with a summer dress! Not sure if my comments are not making it to you? Where in Colorado? Feel free to Email me: rembery@mssd14.org for suggestions for food and some local favorites as well as activities etc….. we are currently in Crested Butte but ski summit county ALL the time. As a teacher I love seeing every kiddo get out to ski! Plenty of yummy options and fun family activities non-locals don’t know about up in the mountains!
About the Cupshe swimsuits, I read all the details about sizing. Mostly, I size up in swimsuits anyway so instead of what I wear in normal clothes-I bought my "swimsuit size"-if that makes any sense?? Which is just one size up. 🙂 I ordered a ton and the ones that didn't fit-didn't work because the "girls" were a bit exposed but looking back-I should have been able to tell that from the photo. The bottoms are all the higher waist bottoms but I feel like they all have great coverage.
Stella & Dot's spring line is so good—it's one of my favorites in years!

My boys have lots of chores and while they often complain since most of their friends don't have any I love that they are so competent around the house. We never did the whole allowance thing; mostly because I never remembered to have money around to pay them but my boys are lucky that they often are hired for odd jobs from their grandparents and other assorted family members so they've learned some valuable spending/ saving lessons through the years. Good luck!
I've been on the cupshe website on and off all day! So many cute options! I'm just not ready for swimsuit season just yet. haha
