Hi There, Friends.
Happy Friday. It’s been a week. We’ve experienced some really high highs that go along with Homecoming weeks and some really low lows. I’m popping in today with Andrea to share some FAVORITES.
First up was a FAVORITE Homecoming ask. Do you guys know these are a “thing” now? You don’t just ask a girl to go as your date, you come up with a fun, creative way to ask. Another mom and I had discussed signs and what our boys were gonna do. She sent me pics of tennis ball stickers and actually grabbed some stuff from Hobby Lobby for me. I didn’t look at any of it until the day we were supposed to drive over to officially ask the girl. And that morning {Nixon and I were headed out for a double header baseball game for him} I noticed the stickers were actually SOFTBALL stickers. BAHAHAHA! We’d both been so excited about this tennis theme that we’d missed that! Baseball moms helped me come up with this idea as we sat in the stands on Sunday afternoon. {And I’m saying “we” because if you have a teenage son, then you probably understand that if he did this sign solely it’d look WAY different.}. Are Homecoming asks a big thing where you are?

We also had the mum/garter exchange this week. I grew up in Missouri where mums weren’t a thing but I kind of LOVE this tradition. {Not gonna lie-a FAVORITE!} The guys get the girls a mum and then the girls get the guys a garter. They all wear these to school on Friday and the Homecoming game that night.

Bowen finally got his chance to play tackle football and he’s stoked! His team had their first game last weekend. New FAVORITE for Bowen!

Now switching gears to Ebby Lee’s Homecoming week…{she’s going with a big group of friends} her high school kicked off the fun this week with a big school wide parade. Every athletics team/group was represented in some way with a float. These kids brought the spirit!
Check out those CHEERLEADERS!!
And one of Britt’s FAVORITE people is up for Homecoming Court so she was pumped to get to see her in the parade.
Then my FAVORITE part of the evening was the pep rally with a special performance by the CHEERLEADERS!

And my FAVORITE softball player snagged the GAME BALL after her game last weekend!

Remember I asked you a couple weeks ago to be praying for the S family? Unfortunately, my friend lost her battle with cancer. My heart is absolutely broken for her family, but I also know her body is fully healed and whole and she’s with Jesus free of all pain. The days to come are going to be difficult but they have a strong village of people who loved their mama and love them. I keep being reminded where there is grief, there is love. And this family has a whole lot of love surrounding them.

I hope you guys hug the people you love a little tighter today and have a great weekend!
XO
Sending prayers to you and your friend’s family! Absolutely heartbreaking!

Thank you, Elspeth!
What a cute Homecoming ask! Great job! The kids do those here. We do not do the mums thing, but I do think they’re adorable! I am so sorry for your loss. I will be praying for her family and for you. Have a great weekend, Erika! We are off to Disney tomorrow 🙂
Alison, have SO MUCH FUN!!
Homecoming sounds like so much fun! I’ve heard of it but it isn’t a thing over here in the UK.
Well done to Bowen with the football.
So sorry about your friend. Sending love and hugs.
Thank you, Kim!
It has been a FULL week, friend! As you know, I’m praying, praying, praying for that sweet friend. xx
Thank you!
What a busy week! How do the mums work? Do you have to MAKE those?! We live in Wisconsin and I’ve never heard of/seen this tradition 🙂
Hi Alyssa! No, some moms do make them but by the time you buy ribbon and all the extra things I don’t think you actually save that much money. For instance, you can’t just buy one strip of ribbon, you buy the roll. Know what I mean? Plus, I don’t have the mum making skill set. Most people order them. You have their names put on ribbons, school stuff, mascot, anything they’re interested in, etc.
I’m so sorry about your friend. I only met her once briefly, but she radiated joy. Her daughter was so strong last night. Prayers.
Hi Stacy, She sure was! So happy to see her out.
Seems homecoming has so many activities now a days! I’m a few years away from all that, but it seems like a lot! I’m so sorry about loosing your friend 🙁
Jen, prepare yourself. It is a lot! And thank you. XO
At my son’s school last year he said a few/some people did promposals and big asks at homecoming but not everyone and not a lot… and mums and garters are definitely not a thing. You definitely had a roller coaster of a week with lots of highs and lows. So sorry to read that your friend lost her battle with cancer.
Thank you, Joanne. I’m not a Texas native so I don’t fully understand the mum/garter thing but I am always down for a good tradition.
So sorry about your friend. 🙏🏻
Do you have kids in two different high schools? That’s exciting!
Thank you, Lori. And yes, crazy busy week of HOCO activities and fun the same time but at two different schools.
I’m sorry about your beautiful friend. Her family will continue to be in my prayers.
Thank you, Jill
