Friday Favorites-8.12.22

It’s Back to School edition of Friday Favorites! Happy FIRST Friday of our Slaughter School Year! This school year is kicking off to be a great one…great teachers, awesome schools, and good friends.

Andrea and I are holding down the Friday Favorites fort with a round-up of our FAVORITE things from the week. As always, we’d love for you to join us!

I have a big list of Back to School FAVORITES that happened over the last week. Let’s get right to it…

Our elementary school does a Kinder Park Play Date the Saturday before school starts every year. Each class is assigned a color to wear so that when the kids are all running around it’s easy to identify the kids in each class. As we were leaving I asked Britt for a picture and this is the pose she gave me. #really

This was better…my FAVORITE! 🙂

Bowen’s summer flag football team won their playoff game on Saturday and played for the championship Sunday. We weren’t able to pull it out in the end but the fact that our lunch order was his baseball number was a FAVORITE silver lining.

Some of the kindergarten girls got together to take a FAVORITE picture that we hope to recreate each year until graduation. Isn’t that cute?!

*************************

Meet the Teacher was a great night. Britt got the teacher she was hoping for! She’s gonna be a FAVORITE we can already tell. We’re looking forward to a great year! {Britty’s dress is this one. I’m planning on adding a denim vest during the year and it’ll be school appropriate.}

********************

The first day of kindergarten was a FAVORITE for this girly. She came home talking about it all! The snack, the book her teacher read, the activity they did afterwards, the LONG walk from recess to the cafeteria, and on and on. This is Britt’s dress and these are her shoes. She has the teeniest feet so she’s actually in toddler shoes. I took a deep dive in all things back to school related fashion for Britt mid-summer, so she has several similar varieties.

Bowen Slaughter entered fourth grade. Crazy he just has two years left in elementary school! He got braces right before the school year started so he’s looking even older.

Seventh grader, Nixon, is pumped about a great year too.

These three were all ready at the same time so I was able to take a 3/4 first day picture.

We walked Britty and Bowen into class.

This was right before she walked into the kindergarten area. She did great! No tears and was happy to go inside, but it was still a bit overwhelming. I’m not going to name any names but one of my kids {whose name starts with an “N”} got a bit emotional about her walking into class. That made ME get emotional so then we were a bit of a mess. The baby is in kindergarten!

Bowen stumbled upon some of his besties as we walked into his class.

Then this girly was looking so pretty and ready for her eighth grade year!

************************

After school everyone was ALL smiles! That’s my FAVORITE way to pick up kids on the first day! LOVED getting to see this!

As always, I decorated the door {which is cheesy and ridiculous but my kids roll their eyes and like it} and then we went out for a family birthday dinner for Tab.

Another back to school FAVORITE? Smiles for Day #2!

If you saw Britt’s Back to School pics, I added the photographer’s IG {if you’re local} in the post, but I got lots of questions about her outfit. I have the links for you…

Your kids are so cute. The dress code at our school doesn’t allow any frayed or torn jeans!

We’re in the middle of that right now. She’s wearing Levi’s in this picture, but we just got a delivery from American Eagle. I’ll keep you posted!

I didn’t comment yesterday but saw all the Britt pics you had posted from her shoot. If I were you, I think I would just wallpaper the whole living room with them. They could not be more adorable, the clothes, her beautiful face, her hair, the bus… all so precious!! And how sweet about her drop-off, too. Your big 8th grader looks so grown up and beautiful. Glad your kids had a great first week. Happy weekend!!

It seems really old fashioned that girls can’t wear spaghetti straps or sundress and be “school appropriate.” The dress looks great!

Thank you!! I think there’s no clause in the dress code that separates anything approved for kinder versus a ninth grader so they keep it all consistent across the ages. The straps are just supposed to be wider than a spaghetti strap on things like that. They might allow it for kinder? But I’m not a risk taker when it comes to kinder dress code so those vests are perfect!
