Friday Favorites-6.30.23

Happy Friday, Friends! Can you believe it’s the LAST DAY OF JUNE!?! WHOA! I feel like our entire month was kind of the same thing…camps, baseball, camps, baseball…on repeat. But we’re traveling in July and are really gonna squeeze the most out of summer before school and football {I’m looking at you training camps that start the first week of August-ha!} start. I’ve got a random little list of FAVORITES from my week. Be sure to pop over to Andrea’s blog to check out her faves. Happy Friday FAVORITES, friends…

One of my FAVORITE people has been working out at the Row House {not sure if they have these all over but the workout classes are all on rowers-some with weights and others are hour long classes on rowers only} and she celebrated her 1,000,000th meter row during a class last week. Ebby Lee and I surprised her by signing up for the class where we knew she’d hit her big milestone. She was SHOCKED when we walked in to row. ha ha! The instructor let Marla choose the play list before hand and she made the class so fun. We all celebrated and cheered when she rowed her exact one millionth meter. Super fun way to spend a Thursday evening!

I’m typically not a crime podcast listener because I want to listen to a podcast for an hour or less and typically true crime podcasts are hours long but let me tell you…this podcast is worth the listen! It’s a new FAVORITE and my new go to when someone asks, “What podcast do you listen to?”. This eight episode series is my new recommendation. :). I just finished it and was SHOCKED!

You guys know I turn forty in about a month and I’m declaring these shorts my FAVORITE mom shorts! Have you guys tried the Free People shorts? I have a dupe pair and they’re really short. So short I never grab them from my closet. Last week Bowen and I did a little shopping before he left for camp and I found these shorts. They have a bit of the look of the Free People shorts but are a big longer. They work for a workout {I wore these during my rowing class} or just to run errands. I’m in my typical size small. They’re a high waisted short {kind of boxer short look} and come in tons of colors.

We’re nearing the end of one of my FAVORITE seasons…baseball season. Nixon’s baseball team had a crazy/fun/wild bonding day recently and they all bleached their hair blonde. Nixon doesn’t look too different since his hair was already light but some of the boys on the team look SO DIFFERENT! While the hair results aren’t my favorite thing, the fact this group of boys came together, had the best kind of day, and all did this together is a favorite. And a team mom who was good with all the mess at her house is a favorite too! {I’d have been a stressed mess!}.

Nixon’s team has one more big tournament and we’re hoping for a really great end to the season. Honestly, my mom view of the season is it’s already been a great one. This team has had many ups and many downs and they’ve battled. They’ve picked each other up, they’ve encouraged each other, and they’ve fought hard. Excited to see them battle big one more time before they trade in their baseball cleats for the football cleats.

Bowen’s had a really busy two weeks. He had a big baseball tournament, had two days at home and then it was time to head to church camp. He wouldn’t exactly say church camp was his FAVORITE but the fact that he’s saying he had a “good time”, means we’re calling it a win. I think it was a mom fail on my part that he went from a really busy summer immediately to camp and he was tired before he even arrived. Add in three nights of exhausting camp and he was SPENT by the time he was home. Hearing his camp stories though-a FAVORITE!

Hope you guys have the BEST weekend!

While listening to scamanda, I thought of you and your friend group many times with Manda and her fight for cancer. I wondered if the scam on the podcast hits even more offensive when you watched a dear friend battle so honorably. And can I just say the sentencing in episode 8, specifically the judge’s comments, are a highlight of the podcast.

The judges comments were absolutely PERFECT! It was shocking to me how much someone could prey on such a vulnerable group of people who are already going through so much as well as the emotions of people just trying to help AND only go to prison for 5 years. It seems like such a terrible thing to do yet the only crime she committed was wire fraud?! Surely there’s something else they missed!

If you liked Scamanda, you should check out Something Was Wrong. It will blow your mind. There are a tone of seasons but they are about different things. Some seasons follow one story the entire time and others do not. So so good. And Smartless is good for a ton of laughs!

I love a team hair color!! My boys were wrestlers in high school & their school colors were navy blue & white. The boys that went to the State Tournament would always dye their hair blue. I have to say my youngest son looked really good in blue hair. I had to warn the pastor that 1st year of all the blue hair coming in to the church on Sunday morning!
