Friday Favorites-2.14.20

Happy Valentine’s Day, Everyone!

Narci, Andrea, and I are here with FRIDAY FAVORITES!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

My biggest valentine has been out of town for a week and just got home last night.  My request was something grilled for dinner with a super chill/low key night at home.  Now THAT sounds fabulous!  And he has Britt bathing duties.  #happyvalentinesdaytome

Today, I have a hot random mess of faves from my week to share!

First up, is this candle.  You guys know I’m from a small, country town in Missouri and if you’re wondering what my town smells like…it is this candle.  I had lunch with some friends this week and popped into Bath and Body Works with a girlfriend, sniffed this candle, and it took me WAY back.  FAVORITE scent of my childhood.

Another FAVORITE…our school’s family valentine dance.  The tradition at our school is in fifth grade you learn how to square dance in p.e. and then the fifth graders show off their square dancing skills at the dance.  Mid-dance the lights all come on, everybody gathers around, and we watch the fifth graders.  Ebby Lee and her group were so nervous but they did great!  We got her dress from Dillard’s and lost the belt because it just wasn’t working.

I’ve gotta talk about square dancing for a hot minute…
One town over from my hometown hosted a “Homecoming” celebration every year for a week in the summer.  It always happened right before school started back so this was always the place where I debuted all my new school clothes.  Anyway, at this event the big tradition was square dancing.  They’d bring in a big wooden dance floor in the middle of the town as well as all the carnival things…rides, funnel cake stations, and midway-type games.  But the star of the show was the square dancing portion of every night.  Since I wasn’t from this town, my family didn’t grow up doing it every year but that all changed once I got to high school.  I became fast friends with a group who lived for the square dancing so they taught me what I should be doing.  Was I good?  NO!  But those guys would flip me around, twirl me, and really did their best to make me look like I knew what direction I was supposed to be going.  WE HAD A BLAST!  Fast forward to college, when I needed another p.e. credit…guess what I took?  SQUARE DANCING!  Yes, I did.  And please ask me if I liked it.  Spoiler alert-YES!  I might have even dated a guy in that square dancing class for a few months.  😉

We were laughing at this picture.  It has to be the angle but Bowen looks giant!!

I spied some cuties catching Nixon’s class doing the Macarena.

Bowen and his buds in first grade.

Nixon and his fourth grade crew.

Ebby Lee and her friends.

Did you guys see this??!  JERRY, our FAVORITE, from Cheer was Ellen’s correspondent on the Red Carpet for the Oscars.

On the subject of the Oscars, let’s discuss Renee Zellweger’s ARMS-AMAZING!  Did you see her?  She looked SO GOOD!

I have zero Pinterest skills-especially at this stage of my life.  But lucky for me…my mother-in-law, Marla, IS a Pinterest GRANDMA!  For both Nixon and Ebby Lee when they were younger, she helped them design and create amazing valentine boxes.  I saw the e-mail for Bowen and instantly texted her for help.  She and Bowen scoured the internet for ideas and they came up with a solid game plan.  She told me that she instructed him but he was the grunt work.

The final product…I think Patrick Mahomes, his FAVORITE, would be proud.

A FAVORITE part of my Thursday was a few solo minutes with this girl of mine.  She had an orthodontist appointment and I grabbed her a bit early to stop in Starbucks beforehand.  She thought I was the, “BEST MOM EVER”.  She had asked if I’d get her at 9:30 a.m. for a 2:15 p.m. appointment to which I gave her major side eye.  We compromised when I grabbed her an hour early and she never saw it coming.

I ordered these tile bracelets from Amazon because I’ve seen them everywhere and they are really cute!

I’d say this set is brighter than the “love” set.  A fun little FAVORITE to add to make any outfit a little “extra”.  Also-I heard someone mention that Amazon fluctuates pricing based on how many people are buying an item at any certain minute.  I don’t know if that’s true, but if it is, I’d recommend continuing to watch this set before purchasing.  I didn’t pay this much but wanted to share in case that price drops.

Finally-we’ve gotta talk about one last FAVORITE from the week…THE BESTIE BREAKDOWN!  Did you listen?  We’d love any feedback you have!  I mentioned it yesterday but we had a few technical difficulties and are working those kinks out before the next one.  As we recorded the conversation flowed, but it sounds like we were talking over each other and there were super long pauses.  I promise it wasn’t happening like that in real time.  You can still listen!

I loved the podcast! You’ll figure out the kinks in time. I specifically was rolling over the dogs…..I also grew up in the country and dogs were outside. When I met my husband, he already had a dog so I do love her but still can’t say I’m a “dog person”! Lol!

The square dancing sounds like so much fun and it's wonderful that the kids get to show off what they learned! Loving the colorful bracelet, it would be so perfect for summer! Oh, and I recently picked up a honeysuckle handwash at TJMaxx. It smells soooo good!

I took MOUNTAINEERING when I was at ASU!!! What was I thinking? We rappelled off of the fire tower near the old student union building…do you remember where that was? I was afraid of heights. I really should've looked into square dancing!

Ebby Lee's dress is absolutely beautiful!!
