Currently-8.23.23

These posts used to be some of my most popular and yet, I always forget to throw them into my blog calendar. They seem so random to me, but I can get behind getting a little closer look at what’s going on in others’ lives. I get it. :). If you’re new here, I have a list {from a friend YEARS ago} and in these, “Currently” posts I share what I’m “Currently” doing/thinking/eating/etc. I hope you enjoy these peek at what’s CURRENTLY happening around my house….

Making-We’ve been making LOTS of smoothies around our house. It’s so hot outside that when my boys come home from a practice the last thing they want is a big hot plate of food. They’re hungry so they want to eat but the heat wave is getting to us all! Needless to say smoothies have been a constant go to over here. The favorite way is frozen berries {the strawberries, blueberries, raspberry pack is the fave}, vanilla greek yogurt, protein powder, a bit of milk, and then a bit of peanut butter or nutella for fun.

Cooking-Tonight we’re having a Ritz Chicken Slow Cooker recipe. I’m tweaking a few things to make it a little healthier. Subbing the sour cream for greek yogurt and then I’m going to add breadcrumbs to the top instead of the buttered Ritz {I know I should give it another name if I’m not even using the crackers. I happened to also forget them when I shopped this week so there’s another reason it’s getting tweaked.}. I’ll make a vegetable and we’ll eat the chicken over rice. And DONE!

Drinking-Lots and lots of water! We’re getting REAL close to that season when I add another cup of coffee to my daily life. I just need the temps to cool down below 95 in order to make that happen.

Eating-My family has ALWAYS preferred a rice dish over a pasta dish so the fact that now there are so many recipes out there in a “bowl” form means we’re living our best lives. We’ve been eating lots of bowls…taco bowls, salmon bowls, etc. They’re so easy and since you can add your favorite toppings each of us make it to our preferred liking.

Reading-I just started reading, “Go as a River”. It’s too soon to encourage you to grab it as well so I’ll be sure to keep you posted. I heard it was similar to Where the Crawdad Sings or The Four Winds which I loved both so I’m giving it a shot!

Wanting-To give a HUGE shout out to the football player who started a fight during Tab’s training camp yesterday. Apparently a big fight happened so the coach shut down practice completely which allowed Tab to come home HOURS before he was expected to land! WAHOOO!!! And that officially wrapped the last of the four training camps he had to attend this preseason. Whew! It’s been a MONTH! But we made it! So far this month he’s slept at our house five nights. See why I want to give a shout out to that player? hahaha!

Looking-For some amazing fall finds to share with you! I placed several big orders of all things fall, football, and more to share with you! Can’t wait for these goodies to arrive.

Playing-Softball. Britt’s playing softball {and soccer} this fall season so we’ve been playing lots of softball in the backyard to prepare her. Our family doesn’t have as much experience with soccer so not sure how that will work out. #fingerscrossed

Wasting-I don’t feel like I’m wasting much of anything other than time when I scroll on my phone. Urg!

Buying-Socks. HOW does our family go through socks so quickly? HOW do we lose matches for socks? HOW do my boys have so many socks with holes? And Britt’s in a phase right now where she wants to wear long crew socks like her older siblings. She happens to have the tiniest foot so I can’t find Nike socks like they wear that will fit. Any ideas?

Wishing-Texas would begin to cool off. The triple digit heats are starting to change schedules and well, the ONLY way I survive in the fall is with good planning. But having football, softball, and soccer schedules get tweaked at the last minute puts a big kink in my plans.

Loving-That FOOTBALL season is ALMOST BACK! WAHOOO!!! We’re kicking off college football with an in-person game and are pumped!

Hoping-The weather cools off a bit before said football game. EEEEK!!

Marveling-At how much food my people go through in a week! Our pantry and refrigerator can be crazy stocked full on Monday afternoon and by Sunday afternoon it’s practically empty! HOW does that happen?!

Needing-Someone to hang about 17 things inside my house. It’s been on Tab’s to do list since 2022. hahahaha!

Smelling-My Pura air freshener.…do you guys have one of these? I was influenced and snagged one over the summer. It’s all run by an app so I have mine set to go off at the same time each morning so when everyone wakes up it’s fresh as a daisy {or the Capri Blue Volcano scent} in our house. I’m loving it!

Wearing-Tennis skirts on repeat! It’s so hot here that look is one way to look cute, still relatively cool and put together.

Praying-For the school year…new teachers, new classes, new friends, new school, new grades. Lots of time has been spent covering this school year.

Noticing-I’m not as invested in Big Brother as I normally in. I can’t figure out if it’s because of the time of year. Who has as much time to commit to a show at the beginning of the school year {which right this second feels like THE busiest time of year}? Or is it because of all “the verses” the show has this season? I’d like to speak directly to a few of the writers about this part. I’m not a fan and everyone I’ve talked to that watches isn’t either.

Knowing-I’ve gotta get to bed earlier than I did last night! I’m a morning person BUT if Tab’s out of town then I can be so productive late at night too. The lack of sleep is catching up to me!

Thinking-About how excited I am for this semester! We’re so very thankful we went through that big remodel and honestly while I was living through it, I felt like it was fine. I was obviously overwhelmed but we were fine. However, now that I’m on this side of it I’m thinking-HOW’D WE DO THAT FOR SO LONG?! haha! It was a lot! But I’m pumped about the fall season without any construction happening.

Opening-Another bag of the “No Cheese” Cheesiness Lesser Evil Popcorn. IT IS SO GOOD!! Please grab a bag if you see it at your local grocery store. And thank me later. 😉

Giggling-After watching some of those babies who are CRACKING UP LAUGHING on Instagram. Have you seen any of those videos? They’re the cutest thing EVER! And they make me giggle each and every time!

My goodness, friends! If you made it all the way to the bottom of this post, thank you for reading! I hope you guys have the best kind of Wednesday! Here’s to hoping the temps begin to drop!

XO

Well count me in on not watching Big Brother because I don’t get the channel right now…my cable provider is in talks with the network to reach a pricing agreement, blah, blah…what in the world?? Anyway if it isn’t easy I’m not doing it, lol! Yes on a rice bowl, give me all my dinners in a bowl. We even bought larger melamine bowls from Target for this purpose. #throwawaytheplates Loved this post!

I agree we are not huge fans the season either. We typically love big brother. I think the universe is our weird and I also just think it’s kind of a odd group of people compared to Seasons before.

Love these kinds of posts. I couldn’t get into this season of BB either. A lot of it had to do with us already being in school and sports every night. We aren’t rolling home until 8/9pm each night so rushing to bed and our kids would watch with us so there just isn’t any time.

I just had a fellow blogger mention Go As River and say it was fabulous! I hope you like it. I feel the exact same way about our food too. I just left the store Tuesday night with 2 carts of groceries and I’m hoping we can make it to Monday before I have to go shopping again… but I’m really not sure we will!
