Baseball Mom Must-Haves

Hey Hey Hey! I hope you had a great weekend! All six of us were SO TIRED yesterday morning and then today kicks off the big state test for all three of the big kids. Hopefully that last night of sleep was good enough for them. Fingers crossed!

I was working on filling in my blog calendar through the rest of the month and was wracking my brain on topics to share. I realize hearing about my kids’ sporting events isn’t the most riveting material, but I always try to keep this space true, real, and genuine to what’s happening in my real day-to-day life. And well, sports are happening. I’ve also always learned a lot from the moms a few years ahead of me. Maybe your kids aren’t playing a weekend full of baseball but they will be one day. So keep this post in mind for when the time comes. :). Hopefully there’s someone out there who will find it a little helpful.

I’m not sure how the baseball world works where you live, but here in North Texas both of my boys play select baseball where they play in weekend tournaments. The tournaments kickoff usually on Saturday with two pool play games and then Sunday is bracket play. Most of the time the tournaments are single elimination so once they lose on Sunday, they’re finished for the day. It’s been a tricky season so far with having two boys on this schedule. Tab and I split up the duties but very rarely do they not have games that overlap when we can both truly be present at all the games. Needless to say, when we leave the house we’re usually packing it all up so we can be gone for the entire day.

These are the must-haves we’ve discovered, but often times when I share something you guys recommend something I need to try. Please share if you have any great ideas!

*First things first…a great chair! We have these rocking chairs and these oversized chairs as well.

*Our cooler {2022 version} is a GAME CHANGER on hot summer days. {And by the way, summer just arrived to Texas this weekend.}. This one is so easy to carry…we just throw it on our backs.

*Cute hats…no matter if I’m seated in the shade or in the sun I’d prefer to be wearing a hat. Several moms from one of our teams have had these personalized hats made which are nice because you choose the color, what it says, etc.

*Wagon-I’ve gotta tell you my kids are all so close in age that we never really needed a wagon. All my people can carry something. But if you have small littles, then a wagon would be a great idea too.

*SNACKS, SNACKS, SNACKS!

*Drinks! I don’t use a certain cup. I actually prefer cans…La Croix, Waterloo, etc. and then I toss them. It’s nice because it leaves nothing for me to have to carry back. One family on our team had a similar two-gallon cooler and each family member just filled up their cup. Great idea!!

I also try to add lots of the team colors to my closet from athletic wear to casual clothes…tanks, tees, etc.

Okay, now it’s your turn. Baseball mamas {and really any sports mamas for that matter}, what are your must haves for sporting days? I’d love to hear them!

Happy Tuesday, Friends!

XO

You must get a Renetto chair…. The sun shade is everything and you can wear it like a backpack because it folds up nicely and has back pack straps! It folds like a pack and play! Worth every penny for baseball moms!

Can’t agree more on the Renetto suggestion. We’ve tried every kind of chair and just upgraded to Renetto. GAME CHANGER! The “roof” part is clutch for sun or rain. And the backpack straps and pockets are so handy!

Great advice! I would add keeping things like chairs or a blanket or sunscreen in your car so it’s always there abs you don’t forget it in the garage.

My kiddo played baseball through college. We live in Missouri and he played for a D2 college in Kansas. I always had a towel to sit in my chair because otherwise, my legs would get sweaty. Also, college ball starts in January and before college, tournaments started as early as February. It can still be pretty chilly here. We would take our buddy heater to sit in front of us. We stayed nice and toasty at all of the cold games. I always had blankets, jackets etc. in the car just in case the weather would get cooler as we went through the day.

A clip on rechargeable fan!!!! Clips to your chair and literally is a lifesaver in the sweltering Louisiana heat! Also, sunscreen, bug spray, an umbrella (to block rain and sun), a blanket (for those cold days or to let the littles sit on the ground a play), rechargeable phone charger (long days)… wipes (how dusty are those ballparks?!), etc!

We always had a bag full of rain gear in the car when my son was playing baseball because you never know when a shower/storm may pop up in Missouri!

My daughter just started playing select softball. We live in Iowa so we have experienced all 4 seasons during one weekend tournament. We’ve learned to pack neck cooling towels in our cooler. I bought a pack on Amazon that had enough for the whole team. Also always have hand warmers stashed somewhere! The team kept them in the back pockets of their softball pants to keep warm when they were on the field.
