I’m a SPRING fan! I really hadn’t pondered how I truly felt about spring until Shay and I worked on our latest podcast episode {you can listen here}. We were chatting about March and after recording I thought about it way too much. I’ve decided it really doesn’t matter the season but I look forward to the change and newness each time a season begins. There are things I look forward to about each season but I’m telling you-the podcast got me thinking about my thoughts on spring. And then this blog post was born. 🙂
Here are 10 reasons why I’m a fan of spring…{I hope after reading this post helps get you into the spring mood}
#1 All the outdoor time. We live in an area where the kids play outside all year long but spring time really ramps that up. From bikes to ball to any little game you can imagine, it’s always a little more fun outside!
#2 Spring Cleaning-I always start this is January because it’s my down time. Growing up, we did it every summer because my mom was a teacher so it was her down time. This is usually the time of year I begin to panic if I haven’t had time to get to decluttering all the closets. Why would I panic? Because I know spring things are getting busy and I’m almost out of any extra time to handle that kind of thing. {This is an old picture but my goodness we must have had a thing going on with peanut butter at the time of the picture. I just checked and we only currently have two jars so that season must be over.-ha!}
#3 School things are gearing up-in my house those choir songs they’ve been working on since early December, the percussion music they’ve gone over for months, and the Texas songs they’ve been singing in music for weeks can finally be shared via competition or concert with me. There are song that have been sung so much that I know all the words. Finally getting to see those things performed is exciting! And then the kickoff to all the end of the year activities will be right around the corner.
#4 Easy spring dresses! Yes, yes, yes…I’m all about a simple spring {or summer but this blog post isn’t about that right now} dress! They make getting ready in the spring super simple. And I don’t know about you but I’m pretty much over all the winter clothes in my closest.
#5 SPRING BREAK-I can’t have a spring post without mentioning that! Can I? Getting a week to chill and regroup with my people is huge!
#6 Rodeo-As random as this is and since it hasn’t happened in two years thanks to Covid, I’m giving the rodeo a spot in the line-up! I’ve seen many people sharing about the Ft. Worth rodeo, Houston rodeo, San Antonio rodeo…is it just me? Maybe it’s because I’m in Texas? This year Tab and I are headed back to Houston for the rodeo in a few weeks. And my love for a rodeo? Well, I always say I blame it all on my roots…
#7 Baseball is back! Both of my boys have had their first scrimmages of the year and kickoff their real tournaments soon! For our family {with two boys} it makes our schedules a bit crazy but it’s fun to be a part of!
#8 I mean the meme isn’t wrong, is it? When I think of spring treats, it’s a Reese’s egg {and growing up it was heart and egg-shaped sweethearts}.
#9 Easter…in the midst of a busy time I always like pausing for a big reminder of what’s truly important.
#10 We always do swim lessons in the spring because you know what is right around the corner? SUMMER! And by the end of spring, I’ll be READY for summer!
Happy March 2nd, friends! Hope this post gets you a little more pumped about spring being on the way!
