What we’re eating this week:
Since Christmas is in less than a week, we have ALL THE THINGS happening! We’re eating out several nights, so I only meal planned for one evening this week. Kitchen is staying CLEAN! WAHOO!
What I’m Reminiscing About:
We had a fun framily night this past Monday with the Shulls. We had dinner, grabbed a treat at Starbucks, and then loaded up on a horse drawn carriage to see all the lights in Dallas. The weather was absolutely perfect. There were Christmas carols playing in the background…I’m telling you-PERFECTION! I’m already looking forward to next year!-
Some of my favorite girls!
Isn’t that gorgeous??
We spotted a few other carriage rides as well. π
I’m blurry, but please note the trees. Absolutely gorgeous! And I totally thought Britt was smiling for the picture too. #whoops
Crazy Slaughter girls!
What I’m Loving:
I’m loving DATE NIGHTS! We had double date night with the Shulls last week. It was in Dallas at Highland Park Village. {Same spot where we rode the carriage ride.}
I’m loving TAKING THESE KIDDOS ON LAST MINUTE ERRANDS. Except that’s a lie. I’m really not. haha! Last Friday, I had a few things to return to the mall and just didn’t have time during the day to go. I grabbed the kiddos at pick-up and we all headed straight there. The parking lot should have been my first clue to GO HOME.
Where are Britt’s shoes? Who hit Nixon in the eye? Ebby Lee is taking over “Mom” duties with that “Mom” look she’s giving me. And Bowen is five, which explains his humor at the moment. #REALLIFE
I hope my Public Service Announcement helped some of you with STAYING AT HOME after I shared this. haha!
Sums up how I felt while we were there. π
What We’ve Been Up To:
Winter sports have just begun! Ebby Lee is playing volleyball, Nixon is playing basketball, and I’m coaching Ebby Lee’s team. I can’t even begin to tell you how PROUD I was on Saturday of those girls. I almost cried at three different points…
#1 We won the first set. I almost cried.
#2 One of our girls got hit with the ball and she was so crazy tough. You could tell she wanted to cry, but she wasn’t doing it. I wanted to hug her, but THE GAME and again-I almost cried.
#3 Then in the middle of the second set, a sweet girl leaned over and said, “Mrs. Erika, thanks for coaching”. Day made. I almost melted in my chair and sobbed.
Last night was our Bible Fellowship Group’s Christmas Party. I don’t know what came over me, but my competitive side was shining brightly. Andrea always plans the most fun games for after dinner and it’s a boys-against-girls type of thing. We typically lose but this year the ladies brought their “A” game. And if I had a dollar for every time I yelled, “GO, GO, GO”, we’d all be rich. π #imtellingyouiwascrazycompetitivelastnight
Please note in the picture above it looks like I’m looking at something random. Right?
Look where Tab took the picture from! What?! haha!
What I’m Dreading:
The Christmas season being OVER!
What I’m Working On:
This is SO me! I have high expectations for myself, but when I really get down to it. I’m a mess. I need a gift wrapping class.
What I’m Excited About:
This will be our second year in McKinney for Christmas and I’m excited. It’s so nice to have a day that’s chill, laid back, and full of family. We have no big plans on Christmas Day-other than being together and I’m looking forward to it.
What I’m watching/reading:
I have this one on my night stand ready to read! I’ve heard such good things about this from several friends.
I’m watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta because I just can’t stop.
I’m looking forward to Big Brother in February (AND THE OLYMPICS)!
Along with Arie’s season of The Bachelor!
What I’m Listening To:
I finally splurged on the Pandora that has no commercials. Why did I wait so long?! So we’ve had Christmas music on Pandora ALL MONTH LONG!
What I’m Wearing:
It’s SWEATER season! Lately, I’ve been a big fan of the oversize sweater paired with skinny jeans. π
This BLACK dolman style sweater is now 40% off making it under $24.
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
We’re celebrating our FIRST CHRISTMAS with this sweet girl.
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
I’m looking forward to the clean slate and fresh start a new year brings.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! XO
Was Tab in the other room while trying to take that pic? Hysterical!!!!!
Oh my gosh!!! It looks like it and WHY did I not notice I was looking a bit far away? πππ
We've had so much fun celebrating the season with YOU guys!! And bonus? The fun isn't over!! #bringiton
Bring. It. On.
I can't stop real housewives of Atlanta either!
Enjoy Britt's First Christmas, nothing more magical than that π
Aw!!! You have been having so much fun!!! I love it! Also, I love that pic of you girls in the carriage! So cute!
Just ordered that Lucado book! Like I stopped reading the blog post, ordered the book then finished reading! Anxious? Haha! Yep my hubby and I need that book! Thanks for sharing!
If I could post a video in the comments of you and Shay doing that ornament game, I would. It was hilarious! Iβm so glad the girls won this year! Woo hoo!
Oh I hope yβall have the best Christmas with sweet Britt!!
We went and saw the Christmas lights in Highland Park on Monday night too! And I added that Max Lucado book to my "to read" list this week π
^^ Totally left my comment on the wrong post. Oops! Happy Wednesday!
Are you hoarse from cheering so hard last night?! Hahaha! So much fun!! (Except for my game…I'm sore. Seriously!) That Inspired Chick
The Rosie Thomas (Holiday) station on Pandora is awesome for those calmer, less "Mariah Carey staples" (although you can never have too much Mariah Carey Christmas….).
There's A LOT to comment on in this post but I think Bowen's puppy hat was my favorite part π
