What we’re eating this week:
Our dishwasher is broken. The part has been ordered, but I repeat…my dishwasher is broken. There are many things I love about the olden days, but hand washing dishes isn’t one of them. 🙂
What I’m Reminiscing About:
These two last year on the first day of school. Nixon headed to kindergarten and Ebby Lee went to first grade. Now, I feel like they’re old pros, so the first day will be WAY easier on everyone, including this mama.
What I’m Loving:
SUMMER!!!
I was loving this last month and I’m still feeling the same way.
What We’ve Been Up To:
If you saw my post on Monday, I’ve been getting everyone ready for school.
What I’m Dreading:
I’m feeling a little bit OVER the heat. This week has been cooler and I’m SO thankful for temperatures in the nineties.
What I’m Working On:
I’m STILL (eek! I said this last month too!) working on finishing the front bathroom and the front sitting room. We just had a chandelier hung yesterday in the bathroom so it’s almost completely finished.
What I’m Excited About:
Football season is right around the corner. As much as we miss Tab being gone (when we don’t join him), the kids and I really do have a blast in the fall. Some football games, a destination wedding, and lots of movie nights are on the agenda for us this fall.
What I’m watching/reading:
Big Brother
I shared my thoughts about Big Brother yesterday. 🙂
Luckiest Girl Alive
I’m about three-fourths of the way through this book and oh my goodness….has anyone read it? I bought it because people compared it to Gone Girl. I thought Gone Girl was a bit dark but really suspenseful. I feel like this one is just disturbing. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you like really dark books. I’m almost finished though and feel like I can’t quit now, so I’ll give you a recap later. If you read it, PLEASE tell me it gets better at the end. I need happy and light!!!
What I’m Listening To:
The song, Try Everything, has been on repeat at our house.
What I’m Wearing:
Right now, I’m wearing swimsuits and cover-ups, but this fall I’ll be sporting my new Nordstrom finds. You can see my favorites here.
What I’m Doing This Weekend:
This weekend I have a DATE NIGHT scheduled with this cutie. We celebrate eleven years of marital bliss this weekend. Well, maybe eight years of marital bliss but eleven years of marriage. haha! I kid!!
What I’m Looking Forward to Next Month:
Routines! I’m looking forward to some structure! ha! But until then…we’re soaking up the late bedtimes and lazy days of summer.
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Happy Wednesday! XOXO
Loved Gone Girl!!! Will have to buy this book today!!!
Not a fan of luckiest girl alive! I also found it disturbing and felt that it kind of just ended abruptly
Happy (early) Anniversary! xoxo
Ha on the 8 years of bliss, 11 years of marriage! We had friends over to dinner one night around our anniversary and I had a chalkboard that said 11 happy years and when they asked if we were celebrating our 11th anniversary I said "No, 15th." LOL! It was a joke and their faces were priceless!!!
On another note, I didn't enjoy Luckiest Girl Alive and I actually don't mind dark books- I loved Gone Girl, In a Dark, Dark Wood, In the Blood and other suspenseful, dark novels. But Luckiest Girl Alive just wasn't really a great book. Dark books need to be real well written IMO to be dark and not depressing. Have you read Girl on the Train? Not as dark, but definitely suspenseful and very well written!
For some reason, your post today reminded me that I need to get a new lunchbox for Carter! He would have been less than pleased if his lunch had to be packed in his dino lunchbox now that he's now a big 2nd grader. Now it's all Under Armour ALL THE TIME. 😉 You look SO CUTE in your new boots.
Those boots are so cute!! And I cannot wait to see your guest bath with the new chandelier!
Hand washing dishes is NOT ever on my favorites list! You look adorbs in that top….I purchased in the mustard and I'm still not sure it's right for me. Going to try with jeans and boots for a second look. 🙂
I'm with you on hand washing dishes…BOO! Happy anniversary !!!
That wine top looks darling on you!!! Also, so glad you shared about that book–It was on my list!
I haven't read Luckiest Girl Alive, and will now just skip it. I liked Gone Girl, Girl on a Train, and Defending Jacob (and recommend them all), but I just read Pretty Girl by Karen Slaughter and felt the same way as you– it is SO disturbing. Glad I finished it in the daytime ;). If you want a totally different genre, I recommend Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay– it's YA romance :).
I had the same thoughts for Luckiest Girl…hoping it got better, but it didn't really 🙁
I'm curious on your take of the "Luckiest Girl." To me, it really wasn't comparable to "Gone Girl" (even though that's what reviews claimed) and like you, I found it very disturbing. Plus, I felt like the author wanted us to empathize with the main character – but she wrote her to be such a vile, mean spirited person, that I just couldn't. It's hard for me to truly love a book when I really loathe all the characters!
Haha, 8 or 11 years of bliss – it's debatable!! We celebrate 12 years on Sunday – Happy Anniversary!!
I'm looking forward to routines too as much as I love the relaxing in the summer. Let's plan another get together during football/basketball season!
I'm 28, have been married for for 7 years, have 2 beautiful girls and one on the way, and have never owned a dishwasher in my life ::sigh:: hand washing dishes is my entire life. So it could be worse, ha!
Omg I HATED The Luckiest Girl Alive! I heard it was so good and yes, similar to Gone Girl, but I also thought it was so disturbing and too dark for me! And if I recall, it does not end happily, boo!
Ahh happy anniversary!! Enjoy your date night! And I blogged about a book I didn't like too!!! Maze runner series. I just can't get on board.
Lots of fun is what's up for y'all! Happy Anniversary!!
…..maybe Tab know some great single ref in his circle that lives somewhere around Houston and is maybe near 40ish?!? 🙂
