We’re still going strong with “All About Me” week.
After this week you’re going to be requesting lots of OTHER topics. 🙂
Today, we’re talking NAMES.
My Name:
I was born Erika Nicole Campbell. My mom said the plan was to name me Kacie/Kacy/Casey {I don’t know how they were gonna spell it} but a family down the street had a baby a few weeks before and named their baby Kacie! So my parents brainstormed a new name. In a small town, you don’t want to name your baby the same as another family. I’d have been Kacie #2 my whole life! ha! I quickly went from Kacie to an Erika. 🙂
Kids’ Names:
I’ve shared before how we chose Ebby Lee’s name, Nixon’s, and Bowen’s. {By the way, if you’re needing to think of a baby name you should check out those posts. You guys left tons of comments with great baby name options.} I’ve also shared how we chose Britt’s name.
Blog Name:
Several years ago, when I changed the blog over from a family blog with just lots of pictures of the kids to a more eclectic mix, I changed the name to “A Little Bit of Everything”. I wanted to be able to come here and talk about anything and everything under the sun….faith, friends, fashion, family, share embarrassing stories, and the list goes on and on. A name like “A Little Bit of Everything” totally encompasses what goes on around here.
Last year I shared a post about my personal style, {you can read it here} I explained then that my style is a little all over the place. I like all looks when decorating my house…traditional, farmhouse, modern…I like to throw it all in. When I’m buying clothes, I like a little preppy, with classic, sporty, and more. I think this blog also represents that as well we chit chat about “A Little Bit of Everything”.
That explains all the names we have going on around here. 🙂
What about YOU? How’d you get your name? How’d you decide on a name for your kiddos’ or your blog? Please share!
Hope you have a great Wednesday! XO

I mean…Sherry + Jay = Shay. That's enough to make you gag, right?! Ha!
I am cracking up!!!
Well I was originally supposed to be Jennifer, but my dad didn't like that name. It took them a few days, but ended up naming me Julie annnnnd of course there was another Julie in my class 😉. My daughter's name we randomly found in a baby book & my son's name is my mom's maiden name.
My mom was a school teacher, and she didn't want to name any of her kids after her students, so they had to get creative!
How have I known you so long and never known that you were almost Kacie!??! I feel like my whole world was just rocked. Hahaha!! I love reading about people's names! Such a fun topic today!
Loving these posts this week! I was supposed to be named Ashley – thank goodness they changed their mind because there were 7 (yes, 7!!!) Ashley's in my grade 8 year!
These comments are cracking me up! My name is so random and it doesn't fit at all with what you think my parents would name me. Angelique. I'm still confused but apparently my grandmother knew someone … lol. We spent hours upon hours trying to find a name for my son in baby books. Finally when I was about 7 months pregnant we went to our family's cabin and hunkered down until we decided. Foster topped the list. We like the meaning, to encourage and assist (and, you guys, isn't it weird how meanings of names line up with the person??!!??). Parker was in the top 5 of those names but we liked it better for a girl. Two years later we got to use it for our baby girl! 🙂

My mom wanted to name me LaSandra. Oh yes….not kidding! Thank goodness for my dad!
Love these posts and getting to know you better. My blog handle is Perfectly Port Family, we are not perfect by any means but we are perfectly made in Gods image and exactly who He made us to be! My kids names are old-fashioned – Lucille Violet, Vera Ann and Solon Robert (who is named after my dad). I have always had an old soul so those names just make me happy. I will meet someone and they will say I know a Vera, she is 95! HA! xoxo ERIN
I was supposed to be Rachel but when they brought me home from the airport (I was adopted from Korea), they decided that I didn't look like a Rachel and named me Amy Kathryn (my middle name is after my maternal Grandma). The name on my blog is my Korean name. I mainly just share photos and scripture on my blog. I do the cover photos and scripture for our church bulletins now.
Amy
After reading about your blog name and style..We have so much in common!!! Exact same for me!!! Hope you have an awesome day!!!
My name is Ariadna, which to me is unique because of the d in the middle, otherwise Arianna is now more commonly known. Anyway, my dad wanted to name me Odette but thankfully my mom convinced him to name me Ariadna. I have an even more unique middle name and I have only ever met one other Ariadna in my whole life! We decided to name our daughter Zoe because we loved the sound of it, short and cute and it fit the "we need to use a unique letter" category. Bonus, her name has a greek origin (like Ariadna) and it means life (like my middle name) :). Oh yeah, her middle name is Adele. My husband picked it for no particular reason (he claims it's NOT because of that famous Adele) and I simply couldn't convince him otherwise, so I gave in, lol.
SAME happened to my Mom, I was going to be (and she had always wanted) Kelly Kay, and the neighbor had a daughter just before me and named her Kelly Kay, so she changed it up!

I can totally see you as a Kacie! I was almost a Heather. From Heather to Amanda. 80s baby for sure! hahaha. Instead of being 1 of 20 Heathers, I was just 1 of 20 Amandas. 😉
That Inspired Chick
My name is Kelly Avery … both of my grandmother's maiden names! Our daughter's name is Parker Elizabeth, Parker is my husband's grandmother's maiden name and Elizabeth is my grandmother's middle name. Our son is named Grant Avery, we couldn't agree on a first name for the longest time but we wanted to use Avery. Avery seems like a girls name even though I know it's a unisex name, maybe because it's my name. We finally agreed on Grant Avery about 2 weeks before he was born. Fun fact: my husband's name is Brandon Todd, his parents couldn't agree on his name so they used them both. He goes by Brandon. 🙂
What? Your maiden name is Campbell and you didn't consider using it for one of your kids?? I LOVE that name!! lol I've always hated the fact that I had a maiden name that couldn't be used for a first name, however I did have a cousin who used it for their daughter's middle name anyway! It's Arms!! 😉 UGH
I love reading about everyone's names!! Yes, my maiden name is Campbell. Super cute for a first name. For personal reasons, I chose not to use it for my own. 🙂
I have loved your posts so far this week because I'm a bit of a nosy-nelly myself! I just wanted to tell you that you look beautiful in that green top. That is definitely your color. My favorite "name" story is from my mother-in-law, who was born in 1950. Her name is Rita and her father named her that after Rita Hayworth (his favorite actress at the time) while her mother was knocked out from just giving birth to her. No input or discussion about names from the mother. Ha!! Have a great week!
I love different times! My 4 year old's name is Millie Jo. I mean, how many Millie Jo's do you know?!? 😉 My grandmother's name was Mildred which is where I got Millie & my mom's middle name is Jo. As for my blog, The Perfectly Imperfect Mama, when I came up with it I thought it was a perfect name for a mama who loves her kiddos & tries to be the very best for them but am far from perfect. A lot of God's grace over here!
When are you going to update your bio info on the right side of your blog to include Britt? I check it every time I read your blog (which is every day to see if you have a new post :)) and I keep waiting to see Britt added and a little picture of her and her info like the other 3 cuties. Just wondering – I have no idea if that's a huge ordeal to update that stuff b/c I do not do a blog. I love reading about your sweet family and I love the pictures and your clothes!!
Hi Terri! Thanks for checking! To be honest-maybe people would say it's super easy to add to the side bar but I'm not super techy! Andrea is my blog design girl and she's entering her busy season with cards and such. After Christmas card season, we should get it all changed. We're gonna do a new blog design overall, because Britt needs to be on the header as well. We decided it's the perfect time to change it all up. 🙂
My dad's name is Eric and my mom wanted to name me Erica, but he vetoed it, ha! So, I became Kelly instead. Along with most other baby girls born in the late 70's…seriously, there were a whole slew of us Kelly's in school together! My son is a fourth, so his name was picked out 100 years ago. I love that he has his dad, grandfather and great-grandfather's names. Their middle name is quite unique, Stauber. It was the great-great-grandmother's maiden name. My daughter is Peyton Virginia. My husband and I have been Peyton Manning fans since his college days at Tennessee and Virginia is my grandmother's name. I love reading the stories behind people's names!
My dad came up with my name. But really thank the good Lord I wasn't a boy because my mom had the WORST name ever picked out! Tucker and Tate came from baby books and have no specific meaning. I picked them because it they weren't popular and as far as I know there are no other kids in our school with the names Tucker or Tate.
My mom was reading a trashy novel, "Shanna", when she was pregnant with me, so she named me Shanna!
I'm Casey. And I have an older brother named Erik. 😊
I love finding out the meanings behind people's names. Great post. I am Stephanie after my dad Steve. Our daughter is Finley which I had never heard and thought was super unique. Wrong, so wrong now it's the number 8 trending girls name. Oops. Our son is Wilson which is my mother in laws maiden name!
My first and middle name is Tamra Mashea. My mom says she has no idea where they came up with it… haha! 🙂 One thing is for sure…. there were no other Tamra's anywhere I went! 🙂
My mom’s name is Molly and she loved the movie ghost and Demi Moore in it, so she named me Demi. My last name is Mua (pronnounced like Mwah). So, Demi Moore/Demi Mua, get it? Lol.
Ok…so I totally missed how you chose Britt's name and just went back to read. Girl…how in the world have I been following along so closely for almost 5 years and never even knew that Marla was Tab's step mom…not that it even matters at all but I would have never guessed she was not his biological mom. She's so precious!
That's so funny! My name is Casey Nichole! My mom named me after two sisters on a soap opera. Ha!
My parents named me Karah Marshall and I pretty much hated my middle name growing up because it was a boy name. My mom wanted to name me Gabrielle, but thank goodness my dad vetoed it because I'm no Gabrielle. Lol. My mom came up with Karah because it has the same meaning as her name Kathryn. My middle name is a family name which is my moms middle name as well. My daughters names are Mary Kathryn and Bankston Claire. I had a great Aunt named Mary Marshall so that's where the Mary comes from and then Kathryn is after my mom and grandmother. I've always loved double names. When we were pregnant with our second girl we had the hardest time coming up with a name. Finally one night my husband mentioned the name Bankston for a boy (we didn't know what we were having yet) and I was stuck on it. Bankston is his grandmothers maiden name and I just liked the name Claire. No family history with Claire, it just sounded good. I wanted to use Marshall for a boy if we had one. We are done having babies unless God surprises with a boy then his name would be Marshall Todd after me and my husband (Todd)
I was supposed to be Taryn, but then my dad really wanted to name me Kari.
For my son, Colin, I just really liked the name. I don't know why. haha
For Mae, Colin kept saying he was going to get a baby sister. My husband grew up in China, and he told Colin that "little sister" in Chinese was "mei mei." So from then on, Colin would always talk about his "mei mei." It just grew on us, and when we had a girl, she just HAD to be Mae Mae. 🙂
Both my kids were adopted, and they have two middle names. Colin's middles are for my husband's grandpa and his birthmom's grandpa. Mae's are after her birthmom and then a variation of my great grandma's name – Elisabeth changed to Elise, because Elisabeth was just too long paired with her other middle.
