This weekend Tab had the BYU/Mizzou game in Kansas City. We decided it’d be the perfect weekend for the kids and I to tag along to see family. We arrived in Kansas City on Thursday night and met up with my cousin, Kody, and his girlfriend for a delicious meal! The BEST fried chicken EVER!!
Friday morning we met Kody for breakfast and then hit up Science City. It’s a cool science museum for kids inside Union Station. Can you tell from the picture above that my people were pumped? ha!
We took turns on this aluminum slide.
Pretended like we were hamsters on a wheel…way harder than it looks I should add. 🙂
And pretended like we were helicopter pilots.
This was my very favorite exhibit…the “mystery area” was all about optic illusions and other how do they do that kinds of things. Does it look like the bottom half of Nix and Ebby Lee are missing?? They were MESMERIZED by seeing someone else up there.
This kid was PETRIFIED of the fake dinosaur that looked and sounded real, but by the end of our little visit he MIGHT have taken the elevator up to the third floor to sneak a peek all on his own. Don’t worry he was quickly spotted…the elevator and third floor could be seen from where we were. Thankfully!! And Kody has good eyes.
The dinosaur and transportation area where this kid’s favorites!! He even spotted a Thomas.
I just thought this was funny….haha!! Caption this…
This is SO crazy blurry, but this poor mannequin needed a trip to the hair salon STAT!! I couldn’t stop looking at her hair.
Later that day, these ladies arrived WEARING THEIR WHITE PUFFERS!! Can you believe that? It was perfect timing, because Tab headed to meetings while I hung out with my parents and aunt and uncle. We went to a local barbecue restaurant…delicious food but I had a moment. This restaurant was the kind where you walk through, order your food, get your own drinks, and they call your number to pick up your food. Not the best place to have three small children alone, know what I mean? I told the kids to follow me and I passed them their drinks. While they were carrying them to the table, one child (not naming any names) dropped his/her drink ALL over the floor. Then this same child knocked a sibling’s entire plate of food on the floor when he/she sit down at the table. AAAHHH!!! All accidents of course, but I for sure had a moment!
I should also note that my family was helping with the children and plates, but those kinds of eating establishments are tough with lots of littles.
We did a little furniture shopping after dinner and then ended our night at the hotel.
Saturday morning, my mom, Aunt, and my family (minus Tab) set out for Kaleidoscope. It’s a Hallmark sponsored cool place where you kids can do nothing but be creative for about forty minute sessions. While we waited to go in, we hit up the Hallmark Museum next door.
I see Three Maxines…what do you see?? haha!! Kidding!!
We laughed and laughed about Maxine and then we found this area where the camera showed you on television. Ebby Lee walked onto the screen and they put a cute cartoon birthday hat on her head. Aunt Rene’ walked into the screen and guess who appeared on her head? MAXINE! We about died we were laughing so hard.
Everyone got in on the action.
Kaleidoscope was SO cool. If you’re close to KC, you should check it out!!
Ebby Lee was hard at work. Each session is forty minutes so you have forty minutes to be crazy creative before they clear the place out and let another group in. I have zero doubts Ebby Lee could have stayed in for three sessions.
We had the BEST time!
The boys headed to the game while the girls got our shop on! We had a great little weekend getaway!
Happy Thursday!
Looks like y'all had the best time!
What a fun family trip!! I love that all three of you ladies had on your white puffer vests. I mean…you're all so cute! And listen, Bowen looks like 5 in all of these pictures. When did he get so big boy?!?! Make it stoooooop!
Oh, you speak truth. Whenever we go to restaurants I chose them based on whether they have table service or not if I have the kiddos. Waiting in line, balancing drinks, numbers, and trying to keep them from running like loons – no thank you!
Aww!! What a fun trip!! Also, love seeing pics of your sweet family! So fun!!
What a fun weekend getaway!
What a fun trip!!!
We visited KC a few years ago, such a fun city:) And I totally remember basing the restaurant upon how many kids/helpers I had with me. Sit down all the way, baby;)
How fun!! Pete was in KC this past weekend for the game, too! 🙂
Looks so fun!! And I agree, with just two kiddos – those restaurants are tough! Something is bound to get spilled!!
KC has so many fun things to do! I live about a hour away and have been to so many place but we have never been to Kaleidoscope. My daughter would love it! She is 4 and is all about crafting and being creative lately. Glad to see you had so much fun in KC!
Kaleidoscope is the best!! I have fond memories of going there when I was little. Science city too!! KC is a great town.
Y'all are all so cute in your white puffer vests… I actually wore mine on Saturday, too! So funny!
I absolutely LOVE KC!!
So much fun!! And how cute are you all in your puffer vests!?!?
Seems like y'all had such a great time! I love taking my nieces to Kaleidoscope. They absolutely love it. So fun to see their creative minds get to work 🙂
