Happy Thursday, Friends! Today, I’m getting up on my soapbox and dishing about the things that drive me batty. The things that really get me fired up. Pet peeves so to speak. I should definitely add these are all very “Mom” things that drive me nuts. The Mama Bear in me is coming out today, friends. haha!
These are the top three things that really drive me crazy….
#1 Commercials
We all love ABC Family’s (Now Freeform) 25 Days of Christmas, right? We’re DVRing shows and movies all December long to watch whenever we have a second. Our entire family enjoys it, right? Three-year-old all the way up to my husband, but let me tell you what I noticed. My children were watching a recorded Toy Story from this past 25 Days of Christmas and during one of the commercial breaks there’s a new show with two people in bed naked wrapped up in sheets. WHY, oh WHY would ABC Family choose to advertise this clearly adult television show in the middle of a Disney cartoon movie? That kind of thing drives me CRAZY! This kind of thing often happens with a commercial-in the middle of a very appropriate show for kids-using ugly language. WHY, oh WHY do they do that?? Do the people making these decisions not have children? Have they not thought these same thoughts before? UGH! We think we’re making a good choice by a very “G” rated movie only to discover that during a commercial break-the commercial was practically rated, “R”. Makes a lot of sense, right? AGH!! I don’t get it.
#2 Lyrics
Let the record show that if I ever make it as a big pop artist ALL of my songs will be appropriate for people of all ages. 🙂 We love listening to music-in the car, at home, wherever. We listen to lots of Christian music because it’s SAFE! I never have to worry about what new word they might hear. With that being said, sometimes an evening dance party needs some music with a real beat, right? It drives me crazy that almost every new “hit” song that’s out now has bad language or is at least insinuating something really nasty. Even Taylor Swift songs have naughty words that I don’t want my six-year-old repeating. We listen to a lot of Kidz Bop (on Pandora) because all naughty things they change to a new word. But…while I’m listening it drives me crazy that Kidz Bop even has to do that!! Can you guys promise me if you ever become a famous music artist your songs will be very “G” as well? 🙂
#3 Lane Closed Ahead
This one really does it for me. You guys know exactly what we’re talking about, right? If everyone would just politely move over to the open lane as soon as they see the sign, then traffic could keep going at a slow pace. BUT…when you drive all the way to the end of the lane and THEN get over it makes the entire side of the road have to stop to let you in. I’m one of those crazy people who will drive in the middle of the lanes so that no one can go around me. You know those people? ha! In my opinion if there’s not a baby coming out of your lady parts type of emergency, then you can wait like everyone else to get through this little bit of construction. Isn’t that fair? 🙂
