Third Annual Halloween Dinner

This little tradition started three years ago and it’s one I hope continues many, many more!

I host a little Halloween dinner for a group of my friends who’ve been meeting for years.  Instead of getting together for dinner, I send invites {this year an e-vite}, make the plans, have some kind of theme costume, and we all bring our best attitudes for a fun little evening together.

Tab had all the dad duties for this one while he coached Bowen’s baseball game.  Don’t worry, lots of my mom friends had her covered in the stands.

This year we all sported our favorite witch costume!  It’s hard to see but my skirt wasn’t a full skirt there were black leather pants as well.  My hat was MIA when it was dress-up time so I improvised.

These girls brought their “A” game!  We had Hermione herself, a 2020 witch-you know in sweats and totally unexpected because THAT is 2020, and so much more.  Some of THE cutest witches around!

Please take note of Nixon’s first attempt of a group picture…
Hahahahahaha!

My whole plan this year for hosting at home was a nice night on the patio but when the date finally rolled around the weather was HOT!  I was hot flashing just thinking about sitting out back in my black leather pants.  I improvised by moving the dinner indoors, cranking that AC way down and just set the dining room table.

I had food delivered which made everything so easy!  Salad, crab cakes, spinach artichoke egg rolls, steak skewers and more were on the menu.

Mini pumpkins and little candles were the decorations for the evening.

We ate and ate and just had a great night.

Thankful for these girls!

To see our past Halloween Dinners,

As you’re reading this my parents are driving down from Missouri, I’ve decided to take a long weekend from this little space.  My kids are off on Monday so I’m signing off today and will be back on Tuesday.  It’ll be so nice to have the weekend with them and not worry about any blog work.  Andrea is holding down the fort on Friday Favorites tomorrow.  I’ll see you Tuesday, Friends.  Have a GREAT weekend!
XO

You talking about hot weather and leather pants reminds me of the Friends episode where Ross wears leather pants hahaha. I’m dying!

I am so jealous of how normal your life looks in Covid. Where I live, schools are virtual and everyone is afraid to get together with other people unless it is outside and at least 6 feet apart. No one is seeing out of town relatives without getting tested. It is so crazy. Kids are playing outside only (not going in anyone else’s house) with friends and wearing masks. I am not saying you are wrong, I am just jealous and feeling like it will be another year where I live before my life looks that normal.

I feel the same way, Renee. We are still being told to only go out for essential items and hang out with our immediate family only. How fun it would be to have people over for a dinner party (inside even)! Or have my family from another province come to visit!!

Hi Renee! I totally get it! If our schools were still virtual, we wouldn't be seeing each other in person either. So far our numbers in schools have been really good. Our elementary school has only had two cases. Many things are still weird around here but we are able to get out.

wow you're so lucky that you can not only get out but hang out with friends Inside, super close, without masks. Well done Texas for ending the epidemics.

Agree. The craft fairs have been cancelled here and if we go "out" we can only go out with family. People from a different "bubble" are not allowed. Even so, we cannot go out in groups over 5. I haven't seen some family members since March and the last time I got together with friends was in January/February. Life around the states are so different.

Lucky you are all getting together. I haven't seen friends since February. Missing my halloween festivities. Bye Bye 2020.

I am so so glad you are with your people!! I am sure you and yours are doing your best amongst Covid and taking every precaution that is necessary! I live in Dallas and have been so thankful to be with my friends and watch my son be with his friends. There is nothing irresponsible about doing what’s best for your mental health!!

I love that you have this tradition with your friends! You are so blessed to have one another:-) I have a bunco group that has met once a month for 16 years, and it has been so life giving to have that tradition! We started when most of us were kindergarten Mommas and we needed a night out for fun… and now have been through graduations and sending kiddos to college / military together !

Thanks for sharing this fun night with everyone. Looks wonderful!! There is nothing like an evening with cherished friends and laughter to recharge me.
