Can I just say that I think I have the most creative and intelligent friends? Not only are they super fun, but they’re pretty genius. Andrea is definitely one of those girls! I’m SO thankful she started these “Show And Tell Tuesdays”. I love getting to share with you, hearing about you, and reading all those other posts in our link-up! Thank you for this, Andrea!!
Today we’re all sharing how we got our names, kid names, pet names, or anything else you might name at your house.
My name is Erika Nicole and this is the story behind my name….
My parents lived in a small town of around 1,000 people, so pretty much everyone kind of knew everyone. I’m not sure how it was decided, but somehow they came up with the name, “Kacy”. But a lady who lived a couple blocks away in town had a baby a month before I was due and named her “Kacy”. In a city, we wouldn’t think twice about it really. In a small town though, it was totally different. They assumed we’d live there forever and didn’t want me to be referred to as “Kacy C” all my life. Back to the drawing board! Keep in mind, they went to lamaze classes and had an instructor named, “Erika”. After a couple weeks of discussions about names, they finally agreed on “Erika” after the lamaze teacher. hahahaha!! I’m not even making that up. 🙂
I blogged about how my boys got their names HERE. If you’re in need of a good boy name, you should go check out the post and read the comments! There are TONS of good suggestions for a little boy.
I blogged all about how Ebby Lee got her name HERE. Again…there are SO many good girl names in the post. If you’re on the hunt or you know someone who is, send them to this post. Don’t forget to read all the comments! You ladies had some GREAT suggestions!
You should join us in May for the link when we share our Favorite Party!!

Such a good story! So funny!
🙂
You are soooooooooo not a Kacy! Erika fits you perfectly!
I know!! I think it's a cute name but it doesn't sound like me!
Love how your parents came up with your name
Crazy story! Huh? 🙂
I've enjoyed following your blog over the past year. Your family is beautiful and I have to say these pictures are STUNNING! And the story of your name is great!
Thank you so much for your sweet sweet words!!
I have my kids names picked out. In birth order. I'm nowhere near having children. Southern Girl through and through.
Grant Rigby (Rigby)
Elizabeth Caroline (Libby)
John Henry (Henry)
Ruby Jane
Why won't they be called by their first name? Because that's how it goes. Ha.
I love a good nickname!
These are some good names!!!
Oh my gosh I spit my drink out. That is just too funny! She must have been a really great lamaze instructor!
-Erin (No Bohns About It)
Haha! I've never even asked that question before. I'll ask my mom and let you know. 🙂
I love that story! Isn't it funny how small towns can dictate what you are named!
Yes!! So true!
Your husband has an unusual name. How did his parents pick it?
I'm going to do some research and I'll add it to my Friday post. Thanks for asking!
Erika is a perfect name for you!!
I was "Rachel M." in elementary school, and wasn't crazy about that 🙂
Thank you!! 😉
I also would love to know the story behind your husbands name/nickname. You have a sweet family, I enjoy reading your blogs every day!
Thank you so much. Check back on Friday for Tab's story.
Your name story is kind of like mine. My mom wanted to name me after one of her former teachers back in Ghana, Maureen. But, at the time my dad had a coworker named Maureen so he suggested Doreen instead! I'm soo thankful for that coworker because I like the name Doreen a whole lot better haha. When I was younger I was under the impression I was going to be named Beverly but when I had to find out where my name was from for a 9th grade project, I found its true origin!
Love this story!! Thanks for sharing!!
What a funny story. I live in a small town and we think the same things. Some people get upset because so and so stole their baby's name. ha!
I totally get it! I would have changed my baby's name too. 🙂
LOVE this!!! And thank you for your sweet, sweet words!!! I'm blushing 🙂
I meant every word. 🙂
Ok, I'm on board too, how did Tab get his name? LOL
Friday…I promise. 🙂
Loved reading how you chose your kids' names – picking out baby names has got to be one of the most fun things ever 🙂 We aren't even trying for our next child yet, and I spend way too much time already thinking about his/her name!
I completely agree!!!
Sooo funny about your name! And I LOVE your kiddies names! They fit each of them to a T! Have a great week!
Thanks girl! You too!
