If you’re still tuning in for my NYC posts, thank you! Last one, I promise!
We woke up on January 1st with reserved tickets for Top of the Rock. {We’d taken the kids to the Empire State Building before so wanted to check something new off our list. The Summit was completely booked during our visit so we decided on Top of the Rock.}. I was expecting crowds to be out of control so when I booked I decided to snag the VIP tickets. They were amazing! We met in a lounge where they gave our big group of about fifteen people coffee/water. They showed us a little video and then we had a guide take us up.

We got a peek at the Rockefeller Tree from the other side.

Our guide walked us through a few areas,

We posed for pics {included in our tickets}.

Then she took us to the top! Where it was FREEZING!!

We recreated the iconic 1932 picture where workers ate their lunch on a beam. We were only about thirty feet up WITH seat belts though so WAY safer. And please note, we’re still holding onto each other.

ABSOLUTELY FREEZING!
We stopped in the cafe and had a little snack before making our way back down. At this point, the boys were ready to watch Bowl Games so we split. The girls did some shopping while the boys chilled at the hotel watching football.

GIRL time is always fun!

We hit the subway and hit some stores! Before meeting the boys at a delicious Italian spot for a late lunch/early dinner at Carmine’s. {The only time I could snag that reservation.}

We did just a bit more shopping before we went back to the hotel to end the night watching football with the boys at the hotel restaurant. WHAT A WAY to ring in 2026!
The next day our flight left in the late afternoon so we all slept in. Some went to the gym, some went to breakfast, etc. We were all in the hotel doing our own thing. I couldn’t get my card to work to get back in our room so I waited for Tab to return. He couldn’t get in either. We’ve never had this happen. It was like our card reader was jammed. It took five security guards. FIVE! Many extra tools and over an hour for the crew to get our room open. At that point, Tab and I had about fifteen minutes to get ready and pack our bags. I skipped the shower, threw on random workout clothes, added makeup and threw my stuff in the suitcases. The guys held elevators for us and were so kind. It was just a fluke thing. Our driver waited patiently as we arrived just a few minutes late.

This was me. Sweaty and stressed about not getting into my room. There was a moment where I thought, should we just remove the door?! haha! But we made it to the airport and got back to Texas smoothly. That was the only little hiccup the entire time! {Which is shocking, right?!}
Thanks so much for reading and following along with our NYC getaway!
