Memorial Day Weekend

We started the weekend vibes early by a special dinner at Marla’s Thursday night.  I thought the theme was red, white, and blue so I dressed us a bit over the top in preparation.  😉

Only to realize…the theme was kickoff to summer!   #ha

Marla had it looking SO CUTE!  And she served sliders, baked beans, and french fries.  Let me tell you…it was delicious!  And Marla is the best at thinking of every little detail.

Marla ALWAYS has an appetizer and every time I think to myself why’d I just eat SO much of that {insert here…ANY appetizer.}.  Because it’s always so good.  That’s why.  😉

Friday night we had dinner with the Shull crew in downtown McKinney and then we walked over to check out the Bike the Bricks event.  These barriers were set up around the square and every few minutes a group of bikers would blur past us.

We bumped into lots of friends!

To be honest, the Bike the Brick event just happened to be where we were having dinner, but it was a fun way to spend our Friday night.  And another reason I love our little town.

Saturday was the Wall Party in our neighborhood.  We had dinner with the Shulls at one of our favorite local spots right before the party started.

Some of the ladies who Wall Partied. 🙂

Sunday evening, Adriatica {a little spot in McKinney} hosts the Smiles Charity event.  It’s a big, charitable concert that happens super close to our house with all the proceeds of the night going to help deserving families.

We met up with some friends for the concert and Ebby Lee was in HEAVEN getting to hold this sweet baby.

This one right here ruined my baby holding experience.  She was NOT a fan of her mama holding someone else.  AT.  ALL.

Lots of snuggles with this cutie.  Just for fun, last year at this event….

We’d been home from China for all of four days.  We were all suffering from MAJOR jet lag and this sweet, tiny baby didn’t want to be put down.  Ever.  Needless to say, my mama self was a bit of a mess last year.  I was in a much better place in 2018.

Joe Nichols was headlining at the concert.  He began playing just as the sun had gone down.  As you can see…camping chairs and blankets make it a cozy-super family friendly event.

This guy was playing football all night and so very sweaty, but he took a break and a quick pic with me.

We all took a Lemon Chill break.  Do you guys remember those?  They take me right back to Six Flags circa 1998.
We ended the night with fireworks before baths and super late bedtimes.

On Memorial Day, I didn’t snap one picture, but we did manage to spend nine hours at the pool.  Yes, nine hours.  We might not be the best at laundry but we can HANG at the pool.  🙂  We met the Shulls for lunch and what we all thought was an afternoon of swimming that turned into dinner and closing the pool down.

Once again, honoring all those who serve or have served our country.  From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Hope you had a GREAT weekend!
XO

Just what they began calling this party years ago. It’s an outdoor party but just a random name. 🙂

I had someone ask me what a wall party was too on my post on Monday! My best guess is that it's named after those retaining walls that back up to those backyards? Such a fun weekend!!

Such fun times! I totally think that quote needs to be on a canvas somewhere…"we may not be the best at laundry but we can hang at the poo" hahaha…I love it!
