Oh My Goodness! How I wish I was headed out on Road Trip #3 this morning!
Instead of a road trip, Shay and I are here teaming up for our Let’s Look monthly series. When we started this series in January of 2020, we had no idea how things would look in May when we decided we would talk about our weekends.
Our spring weekends usually consist of lots of baseball,
maybe a Rangers’ game,
more baseball,
volleyball tournaments,
little sisters getting creative during even more baseball,
and friends who become like family during those busy sports’ seasons.
Can you sense a theme? With two boys, MANY of our spring days are spent at the ballfield. While we miss those days, my hope is our family takes some of this slower paced life with us even when things begin to look more “normal”.
This past weekend on Friday I grabbed barbecue from a local spot and we had dinner on the back patio.
Saturday morning I enjoyed moments in a quiet house with my Bible Study and coffee. 🙂
Tab has mostly been working from home so during the week he’s using my office to Zoom, talk to people, and work which means I’m basically Tinkerbell-fluttering around from place to place to get a little quiet when I need to work. But, Saturday mornings the office is MINE! The last couple Saturdays I’ve been quarantining myself in the office for a couple hours to get as much work done as I can when I have all the quiet and all the space.
Meanwhile, the kiddos are making their own breakfast so it often times looks like a waffle topped with Nutella and sprinkles.
I got a workout in as well. On this Saturday, it was a quick tabata ride and an arm workout.
Then I went back to the office for a little more work time. It’s not convenient to spend a big portion of my day working on Saturday but it makes my week run so much smoother.
Tab’s been working in our backyard so Saturday afternoon I joined him poolside with a book.
I accidentally put together a new dresser for Bowen’s room and you’d think that one thing earned me the title of, “Furniture Assembler”, in our home. These new barstools came in for the patio and Britty was the only kid trusting me enough to give one a try. Spoiler alert-I put this one together quickly but the second one proved to be more of a challenge. The holes weren’t lining up correctly so I stopped after lots of attempts and am waiting on reinforcements.
Our original plan was date night on the patio with sushi but when I say Tab was tackling the backyard-I mean he was REALLY tackling. Like the kind where you’re in your groove and you just need to keep going, so we grilled burgers and ate outside again on the patio. This weather is WAY TOO NICE to pass up!
Then everyone showered, got cozy, and hung out in the living room. I was almost finished with The Simple Wild and was trying to finish before bed. A girlfriend recommended it and it’s really good. A chick-lit read but rated R!
Our Saturdays are looking much different in 2020!
Sunday morning the kiddos spoiled me with gifts {see those presents}, we watched church online, and then they made me breakfast. {Please note my crooked cabinet. It comes off the hinge and I’m patiently waiting for Boo to come visit to fix it.}
Then we spent the afternoon poolside celebrating Mother’s Day!
Hope you had a great weekend too! You should join us next month!
Have a GREAT Wednesday!
XO
I miss regular weekends but I'm trying to truly embrace the weekends at home. Just put the bible study book in my cart! Thanks!!

We have really gotten into the groove of these super slower paced weekends over here! It's weird that it's going to take some adjusting once things go back to normal.
It looks like you guys are still making the most of your weekends! I would love to see a close-up of your backyard/patio area. It's beautiful! 🙂
Enjoy your day!!
Hi Erika, can you please do a post on your patio renovation? It looks lovely but we can't see all that you did in these pics. Can you walk us through it w/before and afters if you have them? Maybe I missed the post. If so, when did you post so I can marvel? Looks cool from what I can see.
I miss our normal…but I'm trying to enjoy this too 🙂 .
I can't wait for more weekends outside and relaxing. Summer hurry up!!!

I’m so glad my kids aren’t the only people making crazy breakfast. One morning, my youngest (8) made toast with Nutella topped with Lucky Charms 🤪
