Let’s Look-How We Pumpkin

Shay and I are excited to be back with Let’s Look!  Every month, we share a little peek at how our families do something and we invite you to share yours with us as well!  This month we’re sharing how we pumpkin!

Of course, of course our 2020 pumpkin festivities are going to look way different than every other year.  Womp, womp.  But we do still have some fun things planned to get into the fall spirit.  I’m not even gonna share what a typical year looks like because I’m over thinking about the fun we’re missing out on.  I’m only looking ahead, friends.  Hope you are too!  These are a few ways we’ll be pumpkining in 2020…

First up is trick-or-treating!  I know this is a hot topic and kind of varies depending on where you live but our neighborhood is still participating in door to door trick-or-treating.  My kids have costumes and we’ll make it a super fun night even if the available houses are limited.

My slow cooker works all year long but during pumpkin season it really puts in overtime.  Most weeknights other than the occasional crazy late night ball game night, I make dinner at home and my trusty slow cooker is the star of the show many of those nights.  Right now I’m making lots of soups, chilis, and other fall faves.

I fill the pantry with fall favorites you can only find in the stores during pumpkin season!

We always watch a lot of football in the fall and this year is no exception.  I spy the cutie in the stripes!

Our Saturday afternoons and evenings are pretty uneventful so the kids and I have been spending lots of time on the patio watching college football.  Sometimes we watch it with eyes wide open and other times we prefer to watch like this.  🙂

Lots of time is spent on our back patio during pumpkin season!

We always pumpkin by decorating the front porch.

We add lots of pumpkins anywhere we can find the space.

And if you’ll still let mom choose your clothes, then you are sporting lots of pumpkin attire as well.

We have lots of family movie nights with our Halloween favorites…Hocus Pocus, The Addams Family, Goosebumps, Ghostbusters, and many more.

During the fall if we have the television on for a game or movie, then a little snack try makes it all the more festive.

Last year we cranked up the heaters on the patio, put on a movie, and had a little friendly competition for the best jack-o-lantern.

It was a family favorite kind of night!

And there you have it…a little look at how we’ll be pumpkining in 2020.  One thing I’ve learned about the holidays is in order to make it fun or special it doesn’t have to be that big or over the top…a little can go a long way.  Just making it different often makes it festive!

OOOH!!  And I’m already looking forward to talking Thanksgiving menu next month.  I’m hosting my family this year so I’ll be excited to get some new ideas as I plan for their visit.

Thanks for reading today!

Did your husband move to the NFL for his referee job? Did I miss a post on that at some point?

What a lovely back patio area! It has gotten too cold here for us to enjoy our patio (and now it's covered in stacks of wood for the woodstove) but we still have plenty of fall fun planned.
